Chapter Text
The instruments in the cockpit of the Marauder were screaming bloody murder as the proximity alerts were going of, making the loudest of noises.
“Watch out! We’re too close!”
“I can see that, Echo! And I can hear it too! Quite well thank you!”
Tech snapped at Echo for stating the obvious but Echo wasn’t wrong to point it out either as the Marauder was coming down in a very steep angle. Too steep to be able to even make the Tech Manoeuvre at this point to veer off and try the landing again.
“Tech, were going to crash!”
“No time to worry about that now. Brace yourself!”
They did, come in too fast, too steep and crashing onto the newly poured tarmac on the land.
Thankfully though, the ship was still in one piece as were the two of them. Echo and Tech both having fooled death once again.
“You okay?”
“Yeah… I.. am fine.”
Even if they had barely managed to get off unscathed, the pride of the pilot, Tech had not been soo lucky. As this really was a matter of pride.
Tech and Echo having designed the new and compact hangar and the lading strip of it.
Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair among other clones were running towards the crash site. Putting out the odd fires having started due to friction caused by the landing.
“What happened?” Hunter was already inside the ship, checking the two out.
“You broke the bloody ship, didn’t ya!” Crosshair berated the duo.
“Well, not really.”
“Yeah we did, Tech.”
“At least the two of you are okay.” Gregor had joined the rest of them inside the Marauder, the other clones outside and in checking the damage.
“We can fixit.”
“Sure, Tech, but first things first.” Hunter turned to the arrivals just then. "Medic!” Hunter called out, Trip the resident clone medic bursting into the already cramped cockpit with everyone fussing over the duo and the Marauder.
“We’re fine.”
“Ah-ah! Medics orders. You two need to be checked.” Trip was running scans on the two, with a worried Hunter hovering close by.
“They’re fine. Just a couple of bruises. Thankfully.” Trip gave the two pilots the look.
“So what happened?”
“The landing zone is too narrow for a big ship like the Marauder.”
“So, guess it’s back to the drawing board then?”
“Guess so.”
“Well, at least you managed to land.” Wrecker tired to cheer them all up, getting several annoyed glares back. “Fine fine! No cheering you lot today apparently!”
“Well, then, we better get started, fixing the Marauder is first is priority.”
“Indeed…”
“Nope. Not gonna happen.” Hunter made it sound like he meant it too. “You two will take a break. The rest of us will get stated on repairs.” Tech and Echo tried to object. “That, is an order!”
Both of the pilots saluted Hunter as they exited the ship, as the situation was certainly too bad and sad to simply be hilarious.
“So, what next?” Echo asked knowing Tech would not let this slide so easily.
“We start planning for a better and wider landing strip.” Tech simply told Echo.
“Good!” Echo was in full agreement, not wanting to waste the effort already put into the work. “Then let’s go!”
Echo was fully on board, him too feeling anxious to get back to work. As this maiden voyage had certainly not gone as planned, leaving a bad taste in both their mouths.
