Chapter Text

Easy. Does it.

Dodge the spikes.

Dont let the door. Know. What you are doing.

Purple ran at it screaming.

A spike popped up right as she ran a centimeter shy of escape.

This happened SO MUCH yet Purple couldnt make it. Everything was easy. There's a door-gate-thing that gives the first stick to reach it points. There's spikes to avoid. There's portals you have to figure out. Simple right?

WRONG! VERY WRONG!

This whole game was a TROLL!

The spikes kept moving and appearing out of nowhere. The floor kept crumbling. Sometimes she WAS the spikes. Sometimes she was the door . Then the door was the floor. And then there was no floor. Or door.

Not to mention the annoying buttons and reversed-control levels.

Green was doubling over somewhere near the door, voice crackling over their Headlinks. “HAH! You shouldve seen that! You were THIS CLOSE- ”

“I know!” Purple hollered back, running for it again. Green was doing his best to avoid the dancing spikes as well. “SOME LEVEL HUH?‘

Purple was the closest on escaping that round, having made it right on top of the door, but it shook them both into the abyss.

Green was laughing, inching along in anticipation of a spike. “Easy.. easy… NOPE!” He yelled at the spike that tried to fall on him. “Sucker! AGH-” he missed the second falling spike, leaving them both to regenerate and a clear path for Purple.

“Bulls-eye!” Purple snuck up behind the door and jumped in, the door instantly grabbing her and sealing her shut.

Green screamed in agony of losing. “Cmon! That was MY round!”

“You snooze you lose, Green!”

They met at the Entrypoint, where they see the ‘Continue?’ screen.

“Hey, we’re even.” Green smirked. “Not bad, considering how much of a troll this place is. Wanna keep going to the last level or call it a tie for another day?”

Purple shrugged. She didnt mind whatever they played, it was indifferent to her. Sure, her competitive streak may show up at some point, but Green’s assured her it was fine and made the games more fun.

“Hey, what's up?”

“...nothing, sorry. Just thinking.”

“About your brothers?”

“... Yeah…”

“..Y’know, I miss him. Even if he was rather… harsh. I think it's okay to miss them. Even if it is just a little.”

“... I dunno…. I’d rather chill right now. Not think of all that bad stuff.”

“hmm..Oh! How about you play a game with me? I dont think you’ve played anything besides League and Minecraft. Let's turn that frown upside down.”

“Heh. Sure. I bet I’ll win everything.”

“Nah, I’d win.”

So Purple let it rip loose, creating a heated competition against Green. Level Devil was supposed to be the tiebreaker, but they were both feeling roughed out from all the tumbling around.

Purple could feel the tunic replace itself with her usual bishop sleeves, any dirt turn to nothing. The shift in clothing attire while jumping through games was something she could never get used to. Adjusting the shirt, she turned to Green. “Where to next?”

He shugged. “How about we go back to the town and find Mauve? I’d like a corndog.”

Purple shared the sentiment.

“Here you go. Nice to see you both again.” Mauve handed two piping hot sticks to the sticklets. “Enjoy you two!”

“Thanks Mauve!” Purple waved as Green stuffed his mouth, mumbling his own thanks.

The wind flapped Purples loose hairs around, flapping them in her mouth as the leaves fell around them. While walking through the gatte, she internally celebrated on finding a nice, crunchy leaf.

The two sat on a fence, watching a lone kid on the swingset, not another adult besides Mauve in sight. Purple gently took bites, chewing contently as Green scarfed down his, finishing in seconds. He was now having a staring contest with a lizard near the jungle gym until it skittered near the balancing bars.

“..Hey Purple? Why don't we go lizard hunting?”

“...We what?” Purple asked as Green crept up on the unsuspecting lizard. He managed to get in good range of it before it turned to notice him.

Purple didn’t get it, but she sneaked up from the other side.

The lizard noticed her, too.

Nobody moved, but Purple could see the kid on the swings watch them with wide eyes.

Green took one step-

And soon the two of them were chasing after it, hot on its tail. Purple managed to chase it to a net protecting the growing grass patches, which it was falling from when attempting to climb. “Green! HURRY!”

Green skidded to the other side, the two of them crowding the critter on the net. It made an attempt to dash off, Green's hand barely missing it. The Lizard ran them around the park again, Purple losing her shoes somewhere, until she finally fell into the roundabout. The lizard dashed under the pipes quite easily, while Purple nearly bashed her head.

She propped herself up as Green gave chase, having jumped over the roundabout while Purple went through, and pounced on the Lizard. However, it was too fast yet again, making its dramatic escape up a tree. “...Flash-dang it.”

“We almost had that one! And I didn’t see another! Come on, let's go find one.” Green panted out, picking up Purple’s shoes.

Purple decided she had enough of running about form both the great Lizard chase and the games they played, and laid on the roundabout with a groan, the little momentum from her landing causing a gentle rotation. “Green, come push me.”

“...alright.” Green sighed in defeat, crunching over.

Purple was staring at the trees, drifting off one second, then screeching and holding on for dear life the next. Green jumped on when he reached a good speed, happily getting dizzy alongside her.

“GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!”

“WO HOOOOOOOOO!”

Purple kept screaming and Green laughed in exhilaration. The way his hair was batting at his face was making it hard to see him properly, but Purple can tell he was very genuinely happy, if his contagious hollers were anything to go by.

At some point, she started laughing too.
