Chapter Text

Roman woke up the next morning knowing two things; One, he had an aching headache, and two, he wasn’t alone. He’d let out a groan, and tried to move, but found himself stopped by a pair of arms wrapped around him. Roman glanced back to see the purple hair of Virgil against his shoulder, and could feel their legs tangled together. They were both fully dressed, which Roman was very thankful for, and were in a darkly lit room, the only light being the faint streams of sunlight that made their ways through the top and sides of the curtains on the windows. He could feel Virgil shift against him, his hold on Roman tightening slightly. Roman was blushing, half aroused, and half embarrassed by the way Virgil held him so close. Virgil’s hands had somehow found their way under Roman’s shirt, and were gripping onto his chest and torso, places Roman very much liked to be touched. With a breath, Roman tried his best to recall what had gotten him to this circumstance. He remembered being at the bar with Virgil, but also being tangled up with Virgil in the back of one of Remus’ friend’s cars, most likely on their way to Virgil’s apartment. The faint memory of kicking off shoes and crawling into bed with Virgil explained how he’d got here, and he definitely wasn’t mad at it. “Virgil?” Roman asked, his voice just below a normal volume. Virgil gave an annoyed groan back, showing that Roman wasn’t the only one with a headache. Roman scoffed playfully. “Where was that attitude last night, hm?” He questioned, louder this time. Virgil shifted, his head moving from the crook of Roman’s neck to look over at the man. His bangs fell in front of his eyes, but that didn’t stop Roman from noticing the way they went wide as Virgil let go and scrambled back. Roman sat up as Virgil very unceremoniously fell off the side of the bed. “Fuck!” Virgil’s deep voice rumbled from out of view. “Are you quite alright?” Roman asked, climbing across the bed to look worriedly at Virgil. “Yeah, I- Fuck, what are you doing in my bed?” Virgil’s face was a deep shade of red, and Roman couldn’t help but be endeared to it. “I think I asked?” Roman rubbed at his temples as his headache became more apparent. “My mind’s a bit frazzled currently.” He said, giving his best apologetic smile. Virgil sat up, nodding slightly. “Yeah, same.” He let out another groan. “What time is it?” Virgil looked around, patting his pockets before spotting his phone on the nightstand and tapping it to check the time. Roman peered over. 9:12 am. “You hungry?” Virgil asked as he let out a yawn. His face was still a bit pink as he glanced over to Roman. Roman smiled. “I am.”

Virgil turned out to be fairly decent at cooking.

Roman tried to eat the eggs and hashbrowns Virgil had made with at least a bit of grace, but considering he was starving he doubted he pulled it off as well as he could’ve otherwise. But, Virgil didn’t seem to mind. He just sat quietly across from Roman, eating rather casually. Roman could tell he wasn’t as aloof as he was playing himself to be from the small glances the man had been giving him as they ate, that and the fact that his leg was shaking under the table. He couldn’t help but smile. “So,” Roman started, resting his face in his hand as he watched Virgil. “Tell me more about yourself.” Virgil’s brow arched slightly as he finished his mouthful. He was nervous, Roman could tell, but he was hiding it pretty well now that Roman’s attention was fully on him. Virgil shrugged. “What do you wanna know?” Roman grinned. “I wanna know what’s going on behind those eyes of yours.” He looked into Virgil’s face as his cheeks tinged pink. Virgil watched him back, before glancing down at the space between them somewhat shyly. “Well, I’m kinda wondering how I got someone like you to be into me, if I’m being honest…” He mumbled the last bit, his blush deepening to a red. “Why’s that?” Roman asked, genuinely curious as to why Virgil thought Roman was better than him. Virgil looked back up into Roman’s now curious gaze. “I don’t think you wanna hear me ramble about you for like 5 minutes.” He said at last. Roman’s face went warm, and he smiled softly. “I wouldn’t mind it. I do like compliments.” Virgil chuckled at that. “You do seem like the kind of guy who knows how beautiful he is.” He commented, before apparently realizing what he said and tensing up slightly. It was Roman’s turn to laugh. “It’s hard not to notice everytime I look in the mirror.” He teased, smiling his signature charming smile. Virgil relaxed, and Roman found himself leaning closer. “I think we’re gonna get along.”

After they’d finished eating, Roman offered to help with the dishes, which Virgil considered, then agreed to. Virgil’s apartment didn’t have a dishwasher, so Virgil washed the dishes and Roman dried them. They worked in relative silence, keeping in the steady rhythm they’d fallen into, only touching when it came to handing the dishes to each other. Each time their hands brushed Roman felt a bit of warmth flow through him. He knew for certain he liked Virgil, and he knew he wanted more. As the last dish was handed over, Roman broke the silence at last. “Wanna go out sometime?” He asked, setting the dish on the stove with the rest of the clean dishes. Virgil opened his mouth, and Roman raised a finger to stop him. “Let me rephrase that;” He cleared his throat and turned to face Virgil better. “Virgil, I barely know you, but I know that I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I never gave this a chance. So,” Roman took Virgil’s still wet hands in his, and looked up into those beautiful brown eyes. “Will you do me the honor of going on a date with m-” “Yes.” Virgil said, a little too quickly, having cut Roman off. “I mean, I’d like that.” He corrected, smiling nervously. Roman grinned, squeezing Virgil’s hands, then looking down as he realized they were still dripping wet. He pulled back, grabbing the dish towel and, after drying his own hands off, handed it to Virgil. “Thank you, so so much.” Roman said with a soft smile. Virgil’s face went a bright scarlet, and he smiled. “It’s my pleasure.”
