The Sea Calls Her Name

Chapter 2

Notes:

I wrote this just before heading to class for the day. Forgive any errors.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Rebecca had chosen their daughter’s first name. If there was one thing Maxim could say to his wife’s credit, Lydia did sound very well. Even so, he thought it only right that he be the one to choose her middle name.

As a boy, he had developed a fascination for the Habsburgs after being made to learn German by his parents. He had heard of a fascinating legend surrounding the empress Elisabeth, who died exactly a decade ago, and her attraction to death.

He hoped that naming Lydia after that enigmatic empress wouldn’t turn out to be a terrible omen.

Notes:

Yet another headcanon I had yet to write down until now. I thought it would be fun to add in a Kunze/Levay Easter egg, hence Lydia’s middle name.

Notes:

This headcanon’s been floating around in my brain for 2 years now, and after telling anyone who would listen about it, I’ve finally officially written it down as part of this series 😂
