Chapter Text

So this was awkward. Rubbing his hands together he kept his gaze low, hearing the tapping of Lance’s foot. It’d been a couple of days since what happened and they’d both decided to sit down and talk about it, but now that they were neither of them seemed to know what to say. At least Keith didn’t.

“So..” he perked up, looking up at Lance through his bangs. He was glad that Lance was starting the conversation, otherwise they might have been here for a while. “Stuff.. happened. And as we are both adults I think it’s a good idea for us to talk about it.” He nodded, keeping quiet. “First order of business,” Lance shifted in his chair, clearing his throat before speaking. “We made out.” Keith was a little caught off guard with how point blank Lance spoke, but that was probably for the best, no need to beat around the bush. “And things got really heated, but in a good way.” He nodded again, “Though I am a little confused on why you ran away the morning after, care to explain?

Lance’s voice was calm and steady, though the look in his eyes told Keith that he was just trying his best not to freak out. It was a bit of a heavy conversation for the two of them to have. Letting out a sigh, he leaned back in his chair, playing with his hands. “Yeah.. I guess when I woke up everything kind of caught up with me really fast and I freaked out.” He turned his head to the side, unable to keep looking at Lance. “Though it was childish of me to run away like that, it probably made you feel like shit.” His throat felt like it was gonna close, but he pushed through it. They needed to have this conversation.

“Though I doubt it’s very surprising to hear, it was my first time doing anything remotely intimate with anyone. It was pretty jarring to wake up and realize what had happened.” He saw the panic growing in Lance’s eyes and he was rushed forward to continue speaking. “I’m not saying it was a bad thing, or that I regret doing it! I’m just saying it surprised me.” He hid his face in his hands, his voice being muffled. “It might be pretty forward to say it, but I liked it. And I think that’s what freaked me out even more.”

Pulling his hands from his face he leaned back in his chair, lightly knocking at Lance’s leg with feet in a small attempt to ease his mind. He didn’t ignore the way that Lance’s face seemed to flush at the contact, but he decided not to comment on it. Now wasn’t the time. “I know I kind of just rambled, but I hope that explains it well enough.”

Lance nodded, his face still flushed as his eyes focused on the table. “Yeah, it does. And it makes sense. I should’ve thought about how you were processing it as well, it’s a pretty awkward situation for us to be in.” He felt leg move away and took that as a sign to pull his away as well, it must have been too much for him. But before he could pull it all the way away he felt Lance’s foot on top of his own, stopping him. “Sorry for getting upset at you, man.”

“No need to apologize, I’d be pretty upset too if someone ran out on me after making out with me.” He lifted his foot slightly, swaying him and Lance’s foot together. “I’m just glad we got to talk about it, these last couple of days of dancing around each other wasn’t really working for me.”

“You and me both,” Lance let out a laugh, “I almost wished we’d bickered the entire time like how we used to in the castle.” He felt relieved at how relaxed Lance became, the marks on his cheeks starting to glow slightly. Keith let out a laugh of his own, shaking his head.

Lance leaned forward on the table, “Well, now that we’re past one heavy chunk of the topic, why don’t we move on to another.”

“Alright, what’s next?”

“So,” Lance moved his chair closer to the table so he was able to lean further on it, “I know we both had alcohol in our systems, but I’m assuming neither of us consumed enough to blame our actions on it.” Keith nodded, “So0000..” he pursed his lips as he looked at Keith, “What made you wanna kiss me?”

Keith choked on air, staring at Lance in disbelief. He really wasn’t beating on the bush, was he? Well, two could play at this game. “What made you snuggle up against me?” He leaned against the table as well, their hands inches away from each other. “And you can’t say that you were scared of the movie, that movie wasn't nearly scary enough.” Lance’s face flushed more, frowning as he pointed a finger at Keith.

“I asked you a question first!”

“Yeah, but, wasn’t it my turn to ask a question?”

“I didn’t realize we were taking turns.”

“I didn’t realize that we weren’t.”

Lance huffed, the marks on his cheeks standing out even more against the flush on his face, “I was getting comfortable!” His voice was quick as he spoke, “I mean, I guess I should’ve asked first, but I’m so used to leaning against my family, or my family leaning against me, that it’s just second nature at this point. Why did you put your arm around me?”

“I was getting comfortable.”

“Okay, then why did you ask me?”

“Ask you what?”

“If I’d hate you if you did something stupid?”

“Well I thought if I just did it then you’d hate me more then if I asked.” Keith pointed at Lance, “Why’d you rush forward to kiss me? Were you that eager?”

Lance stood up, leaning over the table. “No! You were going to slow!”

Keith stood up and leaned over the table as well, “Well I don’t exactly have a history of kissing, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to smash into your face and ruin the moment.”

“Well you didn’t seem to mind going fast with the second kiss! And what were your hands doing, hm? That didn’t seem like something an inexperienced person would do!”

“It felt natural!” Now Keith’s face was flushing as he remembered how he’d grabbed Lance, keeping him in place, the position they’d been in. Matter of fact, he soon realized the kind of position they were in now. They were both stood up, leaned in towards each other, with mere inches between them. His eyes dropped to focus on Lance’s lips for a moment before looking back into his eyes, only to see that they were wide, a grin starting to grow on his face. Well, shit. He’d been caught.

Keith pulled back, crossing his arms against his chest. “I feel like I’m being attacked.” Though the words seemed harsh, he knew from Lance’s scoff that he’d realized he meant it playfully. He watched as Lance walked around the table until he was standing directly in front of Keith. “Let me ask you another question,” he placed his hand on Keith’s chest, which caused Keith’s entire body to feel warm. Oh fuck.

“Do you wanna kiss again?” Oh shit. Keith felt his brain grow muddled as Lance’s hand started to move up and down slightly. Shit. He was sure Lance could feel the way his heart was beating against his chest, the way his breathing had quickened. Even if he declined he knew Lance would see through him in a heartbeat. Swallowing thickly he struggled to think of anything to say, the expression on Lance’s face completely knocking the breath out of him.

Lance’s face was still flushed, the marks on his cheeks beautifully illuminating it. His eyes were drooped as he looked up at Keith. How was Keith supposed to say anything? Well, who said he needed to use his words? Before he could think about what he was doing he rushed forward and connected his lips against Lance’s. The way Lance grabbed on to him told him he’d caught him by surprise. He didn’t give Lance any time to process before he pulled away, huffing and turning his head away. Though he had a feeling the flush on his ears gave away just how he was feeling.

As the silence grew he wondered if he’d messed up. Lance had asked, but maybe he was supposed to banter more? He slowly turned his head to look back at Lance and almost wished he hadn’t because the expression on the younger man's face made his legs grow weak.

He looked dazed, his mouth still slightly pouted in a kiss, the marks on his cheeks glowing brighter than Keith had ever seen before. His hands were still holding onto Keith. “Well, damn, man.” Lance’s words were a whisper as another grin crept up his face, “That’s not exactly what I was expecting for an answer, but I won’t complain.” He pulled Keith down, making their noses press against each other. “But I’m afraid I didn't understand your answer, do you think you could elaborate?” What Lance said didn't really make sense, the action made his answer pretty cut and dry. But was he going to argue that right now? Absolutely fucking not.

Fuck, Lance was gonna be the death of him.

Notes:

I have made so many different versions of this chapter and wasn't satisfied with any of them. It might seem a little fast but honestly I just wanted them to make out again LMAO. But yeah, I apologize for the pacing. I need them to be two dorks in love and since I'm the one making these chapters I realized I don't need to drag it out any longer. The next chapter is gonna be a little more spicy than previous chapters so make sure your phone brightness is down and your angled away from anyone who might be able to see your screen. >:)
