He got up, faltering on his bad leg. Neji grabbed him to avoid him to fall.
“Thank you.”
Without another word, Neji joined him in the walk back.
When they were almost there, Neji finally spoke: “I’m sorry for what happened to you. And I’m sorry for not acknowledging your worth. You would really have become a splendid ninja.”
Lee smiled, suddenly excited: “Why ’would have’? That is still my goal, my ninja way! I am not giving up!”
To his surprise, instead of denying his hopes or making fun of him, Neji smiled, nodding: “I’m glad to hear that.”
