Chapter Text
You wake up the next morning from a rough sleep, thoughts mixed with Tenya, fathers drunken rage, what your mother said, and God's approval. You shut off your alarm clock. 5:45 am. You sighed, not knowing how to communicate with Tenya about your feelings, maybe it was Adam who bit the apple and not Eve.
Your reflection looks back almost mockingly in the mirror. Who is she? You take your hair out of the preferred sleeping style to start your morning routine before school. First a shower, 6:05.
Sitting back at your vanity you put on your makeup, maybe more than usual today, you still felt gross after last night. A lot of guilt, you didn’t think what you did was sinful, but you can’t ignore how Tenya makes you feel. Free.
6:30, time to get dressed, thankfully your outfit was already laid out. Today was an off-white blouse, almost a tainted white. A pale pink skirt that stopped above the knees, white stockings with pink ballet flats, and a pink bow in the back of your head.
Accessories to top it off, the silver cross necklace, it burns your skin, do you even deserve to wear this, some pink earrings and your purity ring. What was sex like? Does it hurt? What does Tenya look like shirtless? You blink. Expecting a wave of guilt and shame, but it’s a shockingly neutral feeling. But the cross above your vanity definitely saw that.
By the time the swirling thoughts in your head calmed down, it was 6:50, the bus should be here in a few minutes. You grab your backpack and head outside, stepping on the dead grass as you wait.
By the time you got to school it was 7:20, class started in 20 minutes, to stick to routine, you meet Ochaco, at the back table in the library, sometimes Deku would be there with her. On the walk there you scanned for Tenya, he could be anywhere, the gym setting up bleachers, the music room organizing music or even the parking lot making sure people were parked in their correct spaces. That’s just how it was with him being class president, at this point a mini principle. But sadly, expected you didn’t see him on the walk there.
Thank the lord Deku wasn’t there, probably at morning cross country practice. This wasn’t a conversation for him. She looked perfect as always, you never felt ugly and gross next to her, people just always saw her as better, not jealousy, but a different feeling. Almost resentment maybe?
She noticed you and pulled your arm in the seat next to her.
“So…how’d the ‘hangout’ go…are you guys going steady...?” She grinned, it made you nauseous.
“Well…Tenya asked my father if he could court me…but he said no, for the dumbest reason too. He’d rather have me date his brother oh gosh…” You tried to hide back your tears, remembering how your father yelled at you for crying and basically calling you a whore.
“Oh, my goodness (y/n) I’m so so sorry, he’s so mean to you. Such a shame too, Tenya is such a nice guy...” She held your hands and looked into your eyes.
“You’ll definitely be in my prayers tonight.”
Why did she have to bring up God? Is this a cruel joke on you, were you cursed a birth to have everything revolve on him.
“But then after my father passed out drunk…you’ll never guess…my mother came in and told me ‘Your father wasn’t my first choice, if it’s meant to be then it will be’..so I fell asleep on that...” You tried to read the emotion in her eyes.
“What…! That’s so cryptic, what are you gonna do now...?” You didn’t even fully know yourself; your heart and brain told you two different things.
“I think I’m gonna talk to Tenya…I'm not sure what I'll say. But maybe my mother is right...”
“Are y-you not gonna respect your dad’s wishes…(y/n), you’re being irrational, just pray on it, remember. Honor thy father and mother...” God, you knew she’d say something like that, she’s just so sickeningly perfect.
“I know. But what do I do when I hear two different things and isn’t getting drunk also against the Bible. But I don’t see anyone telling him off for that...” You glance at her after you made your point. It was an uncomfortable silence. The five-minute bell saves the awkwardness of this conversation.
“You can do what you want. But I'll pray for you. And God loves you still.” She smiled and went to her first class. You watched her leave the library and sighed.
2:20...class ends in twenty minutes. Twenty more minutes of pre-Calc, hell on earth. It was also hell because Tenya barely acknowledged you all day besides a hello and hallway glances.
Your mental contemplation was interpreted by your teacher asking you a question. Awesome, perfect timing.
“Umm. Sorry can you repeat that.” He just sighed and shook his head. Just strike me down God.
The lord must have been testing you with how slow these twenty minutes were, but the bell finally rang. You quickly got out of your seat and bolted to the parking lot. You had a task you needed to do.
You sped walked to the parking lot looking for his car. It wasn’t too hard to spot as it was one of the nicest cars in the lot. Once you locked eyes with it you almost went into a mini run.
Once you got there you saw him sitting while cleaning his glasses, perfect. You tapped on the window which caused him to look at you. When he did his cheeks got pink and he kinda froze. You pointed down signaling him to roll down his windows. He lowered down a bit to crank the handle to lower them.
“Tenya… why have you been avoiding me…” You grabbed onto the window, your purity ring getting caught and falling off. You step on it gently to prevent it from rolling away.
“Well…I just didn’t know what to say, I can’t ignore my feelings for you, but I also respect your father's wishes, I’m sorry I made you upset.” It was a pathetically cute sight to see, a 6-foot kicked puppy dog.
“Tenya…listen…my mom told me that if it’s meant to be then it will be…and I saw the look she gave you…” His eyes widened, wow. They were really pretty.
“Oh..I was just assuming it was a look of reassurance to help me feel better…and while that’s a hopeful message, what do we do with it.”
“I’m not sure Tenya…but I wanna figure it out…” You leaned a bit into the car. You could start to smell his cologne; you wanted to sleep in a bed of that temping scent.
“But I don’t want to go against your father's wishes…” His body went against his words as he leaned a bit closer. Your scent of cheap paint and old furniture makes him see a halo around your head.
“The commandment didn’t specify which parent right...” You bent down to pick up your ring. When you straightened back up, he had a small smile.
“I guess you’re right...wanna go for a drive…?”
If this would send you to hell. Then so be it. The sin was too tempting and sweet.
