Chapter Text
“So... Mizuki, what do you do on weekends?”
“Watch Anime, Sleep, edit clips”
“What’s your favorite food?”
“French fries and curry rice”
“Favorite color?”
“Pink—You know that one! And what’s with the random questions?”
The air was starting to get a bit stiff and awkward so, Rui did what he does best in social settings, lighten up the mood in hopes that the initial atmosphere dissipates to avoid a question or just get done with social interaction, in hindsight this contributed greatly to his loneliness, he doesn't really mind.
No one can get close to him if he doesn’t let them in the first place. Mizuki was the exception to The ideology that Rui had so tirelessly built up and stuck to all these years.
He finally found a friend, someone who understands him, at least that’s what he would like to believe.
Mizuki was different, they were a loner just like him. No one understood their way of things, some don’t even tolerate being in the same place as them.
Even so, Rui wishes to be by their side no matter what, they seem to appreciate his presence more than they realize, just being with them is enough for him.
The pair had gone back to just sitting around, doing their own things, in Mizuki’s case, lazing around while playing with the buttons of their blazer. They’ve got nothing better to do but would rather not sit in History class for the next hour, so skipping was almost a guaranteed action for them. Mizuki wonders if the teachers and students even notice their absence, probably only when they need to find someone to pick on but then discover that their favorite target has disappeared from the crowd of students in the class or hallways.
Oh well, they’d end up just gossiping about them anyway whether they were in the room or not.
Rui seems to be doing his own thing, writing a play, thinking about the props he’ll use.
Mizuki wishes they had the mind for that, not for thinking about shows and performances but for being able to think of the future that may never come with that much enthusiasm.
No matter what they do they can’t just see themselves a year or two from now. Graduating? What a joke.
Nothing ever goes their way, it’d be a surprise if Mizki even passes this year with how often they’d been skipping these past couple months. With the bullying worsening with each coming day the light at the end of the tunnel.
It’s a miracle, really. They’ve survived this long with barely anyone by their side.
Well, besides from Yuuki and Mizuki’s parents. On the other hand, their school life was horrible. What is so wrong about dressing the way they desire? Mizuki often asks that question to themself, over and over again, each day every moment that question swirls within their head, but the thing Mizuki wishes for isn’t an answer, they just want others to understand, understand their viewpoint, their resolve, their actions, Mizuki wants others to understand and just accept them for who they are, is that so much to ask for?
Yet of all people why is Rui the only one out of the bunch to just hear them out? It’s baffling, even those who knew them before ever learning their secret, before the rumors and gossip started, they never stuck by Mizuki, not a second after they learned of their identity. But Rui, he knew of the rumors, knew what people were saying about them and yet he still shared this rooftop with them. When Mizuki needed company, he was always there. Mizuki personally has heard of the things and gossip thrown around about the weird 3rd year who spends his time alone as well, they never minded nor listened too closely to those passing conversations either.
Observing the surrounding area for something, anything to do besides sitting around and pondering the same thoughts again and again, Mizuki decides to think of something new,
‘All this thinking and so little time has passed huh'
Mizuki’s getting kind of sleepy as well, these past couple days they haven’t been sleeping at times they should, all those nights thinking, crying, tossing and turning.
It wouldn’t hurt to just close their eyes for a moment, right?
