Tomate is a situation he cannot read. That is exactly his problem.
Tomate's existence is meant, by design, to be unreadable. A pawn of the federation; his purpose doesn't extend much beyond spying on the islanders. Or so he's heard. Truly, Ewron doesn't much care why there seems to be such a sudden influx of federation rats trying to record their entire existence. At most, it's something he might have found mildly interesting—might have tried to get closer to them, extract what meager information they could offer— had the bane of his existence not been involved at the nucleus of it all.
