Summary
It's 2002 in New York City.
Detective Craig Tucker and his colleague Detective Wendy Testaburger work the Homocide Squad. They've just cracked a major case; and have been asked to investigate a suspicious drug overdose at a coffee shop downtown.
When they link the case to several others which have occurred recently, they unsuspectedly realise they could have a serial killer on their hands.
When motive is lacking and evidence points them in an interesting direction, Craig struggles to profile the suspect.
He's also conflicted when the investigation is compromised by his unreasonable attempts to help and protect the charming and attractive coffee shop owner.
Where will the case lead them? Who is behind all this, and are they just dealing with a bad batch of drugs; or something far greater?

On her way home after school, Sandrone runs into a strange girl wandering beneath the winter rain, dressed in nothing but her nightgown, singing to herself.
It turns out to be the start of a very unlikely relationship.[“Right, I won’t make you go home if you don’t want to,” Sandrone grumbles, shivering. “But you are coming with me before you succumb to hypothermia.”
The girl blinks, bemused.
“Is this… kidnapping?”
“Hah?!” Sandrone exclaims, “Why would anyone want to kidnap you?”
The girl opens her mouth as if to answer, and Sandrone quickly cuts her off.
“Don’t say anything. Come with me, stay out here and freeze, it doesn’t matter to me either way. Do whatever you like.”
With that, she turns on her heel and walks away, stuffing her hands into her skirt pockets in an attempt to keep them warm. The girl stares at her with wide eyes, her mouth open but no words coming out, one small, pale hand clutching the front of Sandrone’s coat.
A few moments later, she is back under Sandrone’s umbrella, humming another song to herself as she links their arms together.
Flinching, she hisses, “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Whatever I like,” the girl replies, nonchalant.] -

Jack didn't even process the question, only leaned in to kiss Dennis more. The only thing in his mind was the man in front of him.
Dennis laughed at him. A sweet, tingling sound that Jack felt low in his stomach. He tried to pull Jack out of the crook of his neck. "Easy there." Dennis scolded him lightly, but Jack couldn't think, couldn't focus on anything except Dennis. He felt a hand in his hair again, pulling his head back, the sting deliciously curling around his scalp, into his brain. "God you're like a fucking puppy, jesus." and if Jack didn't make the prettiest, keening sound in the back of his throat at that. Dennis pulled Jack's face up, put his forehead against his own. Jack already looked so out of it. Face red, hair messed up from the way Dennis tugged on it. His eyes fucking pleading.
