“It’s the least I can do for my favorite hedgehog,” Shadow said, moving in closer to Sonic. “Hey, mi cielo azul, what say we hang out at my place tonight?”
There was a surprised look that formed on Sonic’s face, his whole expression softening as if someone had gently tilted his world off its axis. His ears flicked a few times like he was afraid he’d misheard something so impossibly good. For a moment he just stood there, blinking at Shadow with wide eyes, his stomach doing an embarrassing little flip. Shadow wanted to hang out with him? And at his house, no less? The thought hit him all at once, warm and dizzying, curling around his ribs like a spark turning into a flame.
“A-ah? I’d love that! Thank you, Shadow.” Sonic finally said, letting out an awkward laugh.

It began, as so many of their mismatched outings did, with Amy’s boundless enthusiasm and Jet’s visible annoyance.
"Come on, Jet! The new season is finally here!" she chirped, pulling him toward the entrance of the bustling shopping mall.
Jet dug his talons in, his boots scraping on the pristine tile. "New season? It's the same old stuff every time. Besides, the 'Legendary Wind Master' doesn't do shopping," he scoffed, crossing his arms over his fluffy white chest fluff.
"Relax," Amy said, her tone softening as she took his arm, ignoring his huffy posturing. "It’s a brand-new adventure! You can’t win a race if you’re not looking your best, right?" This, she knew, would get his attention.
His eyes narrowed, considering her words. "Hmph. I suppose a champion does need to have a proper wardrobe," he conceded, still trying to cling to his tough-guy image. "But no more than ten minutes. Got it?"

A quiet peace had fallen over Amy's house, which Jet had came to visit earlier today.
Jet was sprawled out on the couch, his legs propped up on a cushion. His usual cocky sneer was softened in sleep, his beak slightly parted. He was a whirlwind of energy on his Extreme Gear, but at rest, he was simply a green hawk, his ivory chest feathers rising and falling with each gentle breath.
Amy had always wanted to snuggle into Jet's fluffy puff of feathers on his chest, so while he's sleeping, she does just that.

But lately, a new feeling was taking hold of him, one that had nothing to do with Extreme Gear or ancient relics. It was all because of the pink hedgehog, Amy Rose.
He'd first written her off as an annoyance, another one of Sonic's "goody-goodie" friends. But their run-ins were more frequent lately, and Jet had noticed things. How her emerald green eyes would flash with both kindness and a surprising fierceness. How she could swing her massive Piko Piko Hammer with incredible strength, yet show such compassion to a lost little Flicky. She was a walking contradiction, and it was driving him crazy.
