Eddie swallowed. There was no distraction of the road to cover up what he was about to say and he rolled his eyes. "I... might've... I was kind of going to say something about making you a mother of three," he breathed hoarsely.
Steve went pink but was suddenly grinning from ear to ear. He was silent as he got out of the car and pivoted to open the back, letting the sun fall onto Eddie's features as he peered down at him. "Not six? I always pictured six."
After registering that response, without another thought, Eddie kissed him.

They’re together in Mike’s basement, dressed as their D&D characters— Mike is his very own Mike the Brave, wearing cardboard paladin armor and Will the Wise, wearing his old purple robes with silver stars on the pointy hat and flowing cloak. The same one he’d always worn because Mike mentioned how nice he looked in it. They’re giggling and turning pages through a brand new D&D guidebook. The same one they use even now.
Mike’s crooked smile. His soft freckles, warm eyes even though they were the colors of darkest voids. His tall, lean body. His black curly hair.
