Summary
Mike’s life in Hawkins feels unsteady without Will. Letters, visions, and the haunting presence of Vecna force him to confront feelings he doesn’t yet have the words for.
-
"He's lost his best friend, the one person who has always understood him without asking, the one person he can trust with the things he can’t say to anyone else, the one person who can turn even his darkest days into something lighter.
Will…The thought catches in his chest, sharp and unyielding.
The feeling is foreign, pressing heavier and deeper than anything he’s ever known.
And it terrifies him."

Summary
“Is that Steve fucking Harrington?”
“What’s it to you?” Mike asks snottily. Max turns toward him, already snarling in protection, but Wheeler’s got Steve’s head cradled in his lap, and he’s got his arms raised like he can shield him from this nameless threat.
“What’d you do to his face?” Eddie demands, almost whining, like Steve Harrington having his face bashed in is an affront to him personally.
Or: on the way to the tunnels with Steve Harrington passed out in the back seat, Max crashes into Eddie's van.

Summary
“Absolutely not.”
“We wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t an absolute dire situation!” Wheeler's voice cut in, matching parts pleading as Dustin’s.
“And this is dire… how, exactly?”
Steve pushed through the doors, entering the dimly lit room where the kids were gathered around Eddie, who sat at the head of the table, face buried in his hands, brown curls cascading over them. A poster sat in front of him, laid out on the table, and the kids stood gathered around his chair.
Their eyes all turned to him and Eddie peeked up from his hands, big brown eyes pained with indecision. Steve froze, stopping in front of the doors as they closed behind him.
“Alright, what did you guys do to him?” he sighed, planting a hand on his hip as he levelled the kids with an accusatory look.
-When Dustin's bike breaks, the kids convince both Eddie and Steve to compete against each other in a Mud Obstacle Course to win him a brand new one. Only, when Eddie decides to play dirty, both literally and metaphorically, Steve can't keep his feelings for the metalhead a secret anymore.

Summary
After a narrow escape from the Upside Down, it's hard to find your footing.
Or: Steve Harrington deals with his terrible parents, Robin Buckley refuses to leave her best friend to fend for himself, and Eddie Munson simply will not stop lending Steve his clothes for no reason Steve can see.
(Or: Steve cares too hard and too deeply to not have someone else care the same way about him. Everyone knows this except, apparently, for Steve.)

Summary
Watching her go, he made up his mind to undertake one small act of bravery. Nothing foolhardy, certainly nothing heroic—if anything, it was closer to insurance. But considering that it made his throat feel like it was closing up in a quite different way, he credited it as an act of bravery all the same.
In the preparation for the battle with Cazador, Astarion has some matters to discuss with Karlach and Jaheira.
Or, support can come in many different ways.

Summary
Steve glances around, finally remembering the other kids. Max, Lucas, and Mike are crowded around him and Dustin. They’re all wearing similar expressions of horror or panic or confusion, and they all look like they’ve been crying. Actually, Steve realizes, Max and Lucas still haven’t stopped. A terrible feeling takes root in his stomach.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asks. He tries to look past them for any sign of danger, but they’re gathered so close in front of him that it’s nearly impossible.

AU where Mike disappears around fourth grade and has the Star Tears disease (google it) and has selective mutism (there needs to be a better medical term for that). S1-S3 still happens with slight changes such as Dustin being the one insisting on looking for Will, Eleven doesn't date anyone, they don't move to Lenora, We pretend S4 doesn’t exist (mostly), etc. Byler endgame

Steve should’ve known.
He should’ve known Eddie would never—could never, love someone like Steve.
He should’ve known. He just didn’t understand why nobody seemed to want him. I mean, he had changed, right? Steve wasn’t the same asshole from high school, he’s tried so hard to become better yet nobody…nobody wants him. Yeah, he had Robin and the kids and the adults, but that was all platonic love. Nobody has ever wanted him romantically.
