Chapter Text
Lucanis was in the middle of cleaning his gear, looking over for any damage, when he heard the sound of clattering bones and mumbled hisses. Despite everything, he couldn’t help the need to see what exactly brought Manfred to the kitchen, so he carefully laid his equipment on the table and pressed his ear against the door, listening.
The clattering grew faster, more erratic and before he knew it there was a quick knock on his door. Lucanis had just enough time to jump away before the skeleton barged into his room. Manfred’s focused gaze should’ve been concerning, but there was something charming about the huge, gem-like eyes. Something that made even the stupid, baseless jealousy quiet.
“Hide!” Lucanis looked around in confusion.
“Why?”
“Found book!” Upgrading from hissing to full words was an accomplishment, but Lucanis really wished Manfred could move to full sentences.
“What book?”
“Emmrich! Hide, hide!” Lucanis moved out of the skeleton’s way and watched as he quickly hid underneath Lucanis’ bed. A few seconds later, a flurry of robes and gold came running into the kitchen as well.
“Manfred, this is not a game! I require this book to leave for the conference in Nevarra!” Emmrich looked mildly annoyed about the whole ordeal.
“Dearest! Have you seen Manfred? He stole a tome concerning the connections between necromancy and astrology and I simply need it to leave.”
“Why would he steal something like that?”
“I haven’t got the slightest clue! To cause mischief?”
Somehow, that seemed highly unlikely in Lucanis’ opinion.
“Maybe Manfred wants to go with you?” At the words, Manfred jumped out from underneath the bed.
“Manfred goes too!”
