Chapter Text

Jolyne Kujo gazed at the TV in boredom as she helplessly flicked through the channels hoping to find something interesting to watch with F.F and Hermes.

They had all agreed to have a movie night, or more accurately a movie afternoon, sitting back and watching random movies (mostly B movies that they bought for cheap) but rather unfortunately the DVD player that they had bought second hand last week turned out to be uber cheap for a reason, that being it was broken, and none of them had the knowledge on how to fix it.

Now of course, the cheapest model of DVD player that would actually be decent was almost 70 bucks or more and considering that none of them had the funds to buy one. They had been relegated to watching public access television.

Of course most of the movies they managed to flip to were typically in the middle of their plots so that made it impossible to understand what was going on most of the time. Not helped by the fact that when they did sort of began to understand it. Either one or more of them weren't really interested in it at all.

That alone added with the movie needing to not have too much swearing due to Emporio doing his homework in the other room, made trying to find a movie they all could enjoy a bit of a nightmare.

As Jolyne flicked through yet another infomercial on some random channel she didn't really know anything about, a simple thought crossed her mind if only something interesting happened. Seeing as Hermes and F.F also didn't look all that into it. It was safe to say movie night (afternoon) was a bust. While she debated just asking the others if they wanted to just watch random tv shows for the rest of the night.

The sudden ringing of the doorbell suddenly took her out of her thoughts.

“Who could that be?” Hermes asked as she glanced back over to the door.

Jolyne began to get up, “I'm not sure..” she replied nervously. Beginning to walk over to the door. Brushing off some non existent crumbs off her sage green sweat pants as she got closer to it.

F.F blinked as a small grin began to appear on their face “maybe it's pizza?”

Jolyne's hand went over the door knob “but we didn't order any pizza F.F…”

F.F blinked as they stayed silent for a few moments, letting out a small ‘hmmm’ sound in the process before they perked up again. A smile beaming across their lips. “Maybe someone ordered it for us?”

Jolyne let out a light chuckle. She doubted it was gonna happen but oh well. It was a nice thought.

As she opened the door, she looked up. While she (unfortunately) didn't see a pizza delivery person. She instead had come face to face with a person in a rather familiar looking hat and outfit. Complete with a symbol of what appeared to be a golden old fashioned wheel.

The person who stood in front of her was, undoubtedly. A Speedwagon Foundation agent.

Jolyne blinked, as she began to wonder why they were here, there hadn't been much ‘bizarre’ activity nearby that would warrant a visit. After a brief moment she finally spoke “may I help you?”

The agent’s lips turned into a small smile as they pulled what appeared to be an envelope out of their pocket and handed it over to her, as she grabbed it the agent looked up at her.

“Here you go.”

She glanced down at the envelope before looking back at the agent, “...thank you?” She said as the agent nodded and did a small bow.

As she closed the door and began to walk toward the couch, envelope in hand. She looked up and Hermes and F.F who had turned over to see what was happening.

“What’s that?” Hermes asked. Pointing down to the envelope as Jolyne sat down. Jolyne glanced back at her before focusing back to what she held in her hands.

“I don’t know…” she gripped it in her hands. F.F leaned over her.

“Maybe it's a letter?” they turned their head to the side. Jolyne looked back at them as she began to tear the envelope open.

“From who?”

F.F simply shrugged their shoulders, “maybe it’s from a friend from jail?”

Jolyne thought for a second before she felt a slight shiver go down her back. She looked back down to the partially open envelope, “I swear if this is a creepy letter from Guess I'm burning this.” she mumbled out loud as she began to continue to open it. Now with a bit more haste.

Hermes looked at her in confusion and concern. “Gwess has been sending you letters?” she asked in a quiet voice. Jolyne looked back to her and simply let out a slightly annoyed breath.

“Thankfully no, but it wouldn't surprise me if she tried anything…” while thankfully Gwess never shrunk her again in her short stay after they defeated Pucci. She never really shook the feeling that if Gwess wanted to she would force her to be her ‘pet’ again. This feeling was only slightly lessened by the fact Gwess was still serving her 12 year prison sentence at Green Dolphin.

The Envelope was at this point fully opened, all that was needed was to flip the top open and read the contents within. So, with a small bit of hesitation. Jolyne did just that. Grabbing the card that had been held within. It didn't look like a letter or anything that may raise an alarm. She glanced back to Hermes and F.F.

Hermes held a look of interest but also concern. Clearly concerned with how this may turn out. F.F meanwhile held a look of curiosity. Clearly eyeing the card with pure interest.

Shakily, Jolyne took out the card and, after glancing at Hermes and F.F, flipped it open.

The card itself was vaguely fancy looking, with some shades of green and gray with the occasional false gold detailing around the tops and bottom, highlighting the words within.

However while these were things they noticed, they weren't what stuck out. Instead the aforementioned words had caught all of their attention as each of them stared at the black colored letter before them.

You are invited to the wedding of:

Jotaro Kujo and Noriaki Kakyoin.

Holy. Fuck.

Jolyne stared at the words that met her eyes. She stared at them for a bit longer than might be necessary, though she was sure the others were doing the exact same thing.

She couldn't even bring herself to turn to look at Hermes and F.F, her head and eyes seeming to refuse to remove its gaze from what she was seeing due to the simple fact that it told her that her father was getting remarried.

Obviously part of her expected this. She always knew that her father had begun dating Noriaki sometime in 2004, it's just she had never paid much attention to it. Mostly due to dealing with her own problems that sure, may have been Slightly related to her father, they just didn't concern Noriaki.

It still didn't erase the pure shock of what she was seeing right now.

“....holy shit dude,” Hermes rather audibly mumbled. Voice clear with shock and awe. The two of them clearly shared the same sentiment.

So, clear silence filled the room. One that was sparked by confusion and shock…

One that was broken up when F.F let out a small high pitched noise.

Jolyne immediately turned to F.F “you ok?” she began to ask them, about to put her hand on her shoulder. But before she could. F.F grabbed Jolyne's hand and gazed into her eyes. Pure happiness and fascination were clear in their (technically Atroes) cyan colored ones.

F.F opened their mouth, “I've never been to a wedding before!” they happily said. All the while holding Jolynes hands in theirs. A warm, happy smile clear on their lips.

Jolyne glanced back at Hermes as the two remembered something, ‘oh yeah, F.F doesn't have a lot of life experience, especially of life outside of Green Dolphin’ Jolyne looked back at F.F, ignoring the warmness that was now present on her cheeks.

F.F looked at her and blinked. Clearly thinking about something. “Hey Jolyne?” They asked her.

Jolyne blinked before she answered, “..yeah?” she continued to ignore the growing sensation of warmth on her cheeks, F.F slightly rocked in place.

“What do you even do at a wedding?”

F.F turned their head as they glanced into Jolyne’s green eyes for a second. Their own Cyan eyes showing their clear confusion and interest.

Jolyne took a breath as she thought of how to explain, but before she even try and even why certain things are done at a wedding to someone who never really needed to understand it before. Hermes did the job for her.

“A wedding is basically a fancy party where people go to have fun and celebrate people’s love for eachother” she explained in a casual manner. All the while she was practically laying fully prone over the couch in the large deep lime tank top and dark gray shorts she had been currently wearing. Hermes glanced at Jolyne with her gray-yellow eyes, a small smirk on her lips before she quickly looked back at F.F, who now had a look of awe in theirs.

She heard Hermes let out a breath “but that's just what I remember, I've only ever been to a wedding myself when I was like 14. But I'm pretty sure it's a universal experience if I were to guess” she explained. Jolyne glanced back at her, her cheeks were definitely, unmistakably warm now.

F.F let out an audible ‘hmmm’ and then, after a few seconds of silence.

“Hey Jolyne? Hermes?” They began, speaking with a wistful tone, Hermes and Jolyne turned to meet their eyes. “Will the three of us get married one day?”

Jolyne and Hermes blinked. Both processing what F.F had just said and-

Oh.

Oh.

Immediately the two of them turned 2 different shades of red. Hermes jumped up from her original lying position on the couch while Jolyne shot up to her feet, a sharp change from the relaxed sitting position she had just been in. She could tell that both of their hearts felt like they were about to burst out of their chest.

“F-F.F!” Jolyne stammered out. Rather surprised at the suddenness of it all, “I'm pretty sure it's a bit early for talks about marriage” she explained, letting out a slightly nervous laugh. Hermes let a similar, smaller one.

“Y-yeah…” she began, clear nervousness, shock and slight confusion in her tone of voice “you typically have to be together for a few years till that topic comes up…” she struck a nervous, shaky smirk.

Jolyne took a breath, calming down a small bit she look back to F.F, “but in the future, a few years down the line…” she felt a smile begin to appear across her lips “we could…if you want to of course” she explained, the last part had been directed at Hermes.

Hermes glanced at her, her smirk changing to a small smile in response, she let out a small laugh “I still think its a bit early for that, but we'll see what the future holds” she looked back at F.F. Jolyne glanced at her for a moment more before turning her attention to them as well.

F.F sat on the floor looking up at the both of them. They wore a large oversized t-shirt with the words ‘100% H2HOE’ written across it, (F.F had picked the shirt out themself. On a trip the 5 of them had gone on in order to get new clothing post Green Dolphin, They didn't really get the joke, they just liked it for the water reference) they looked up at the both of them with an expression of realization written over it.

F.F looked down, let out a small ‘hmmm’ noise before they perked and looked back up at them. “Could it be a surprise?”

Jolyne simply just let a warm smile come across her lips, “Proposals are typically surprises.” Hermes explained, herself letting a small warm laugh out as she finished talking.

F.F looked up at the two of them, a smile slowly coming across their face. They began to open their mouth.

“Uh, what's going on?”

Jolyne, Hermes and F.F gazes immediately turned to meet Emporio's, who was standing in the short hallway that connected the living room and dining area. He wore a loose fitting pokemon t-shirt along with some spongebob pajama bottoms, he looked at them with a slightly furrowed brow that did little to hide the entrigue present in his golden eyes. Close by him stood Weather Report, who held a similar but much more clearly curious expression. He was currently a loose white t-shirt….that was currently over his typical clothes.

Jolyne looked at the two of them in the doorway for a few moments before she glanced over to Hermes and F.F before going back to Emporio.

“The three of us were simply discussing weddings because it came…up.” she looked back to the envelope that had at some point been put on the coffee table.

She could tell Weather was looking at her as she slowly went to pick it up, feeling the paper slowly brush against her fingers as she went to look at the contents again.

“..how?” She heard him begin to ask. She slowly reread the contents, quickly finding some parts that she had missed the first time.

You are invited to the wedding of:

Jotaro Kujo and Noriaki Kakyoin.

You are free to invite whoever you see fit.

That was followed by the location, which was in California.

She blinked as the words cemented in her mind, the realization of what they meant and what that would mean for her future became clear.

She casted a glance back at the Hermes and F.F, who seemed to similarly remember/realize what was going on, Hermes shot her a slightly sympathetic look, while F.F gave a slightly similar one there was still a clear sense of them not really ‘getting’ it fully. Even then it was still clear they knew a few details.

She glanced back down at the envelope for what had to have been a minute of two, just…thinking. About her life. About what happened in the past year….about her father.

She closed her eyes for a few seconds. Letting the memories overflow her.

When those few seconds were up, she opened her eyes and glanced back at her friends..her family…and, with a slight small smile, said.

“You know what? Let's go.”

-

Despite it being over a few hours at this point, Josuke still couldn't believe what she saw when he opened that envelope that had arrived in his mailbox earlier that day.

His nephew was getting married! Apparently remarried from what he could tell, but when that had happened he didn't even know he was related to the Joestar’s so he of course didn't/couldn't attend. But there was no way in hell he was missing this!

He looked back up to Koichi and Okuyasu, who had gotten similar letters, the 3 of them had all decided to discuss the future event and their own plans for what they were going to do then. The 3 of them had decided to discuss this at a local cafe.

“I think I may have to bring Stray Cat with me dudes,” Okuyasu began as he picked up a piece of pancake with his fork. Koichi looked up at him.

“Why?” he asked, his hands gripped around the coffee mug he had been drinking from, Okuyasu gave him a slightly lax look.

“I don’t know man,” he began, putting the pancake into his mouth and continuing to speak as he chewed. “Every pet sitter I have hired has alway run off on me after seeing them!” he stopped to swallow “I don’t know why, sure Stray Cat looks different from other kitties but when you get to know him he’s a sweetheart!”

Koichi looked at Okuyasu, blinking a few times before he opened his mouth. “Stray Cat tried to bite my hand off.” Josuke let out a small hum, oh yeah, Stray Cat did try to do that. Okuyasu let out a noise.

“Yeah bro but that was a few years ago!” he lightly slammed his fists on the table, “It's not his fault that perfume smelt like fish!” Koichi gained a slightly grossed out expression when the words left Okuyasu’s mouth. Josuke put the spoon he was eating his parfait with down.

“Okuyasu we’re trying to eat,” Josuke slightly began to slightly plead with his best friend of over 10 years “can you please not mention,” he found himself slightly gulping at the memory “ that.

Okuyasu blinked before one of his hands went to the back of his head, “sorry bros! I completely forgot that you guys might not wanna be reminded of….” he paused for a quick moment before he looked Josuke in the eyes, “ that ” it was silently decided by the 3 of them to drop that line of the conversation now.

Josuke turned over to Koichi, who was beginning to drink his coffee, “so, you gonna invite Yukako?” he watched as Koichi paused and glanced over at him, he noted that his eyes seemed to look..unsure.

After a few moments Koichi looked down back to his coffee, “uhh,” he began. “Yeah. im going to bring her” he let out a small, shallow sounding laugh.

Josuke looked at him for a second, a worried expression came onto his face, something didn't really feel right… he began to open his mouth to ask Koichi if he was ok, but before the words could leave it..

“Hey dudes it says we can bring anyone we want!” Okuyasu exclaimed, the invitation in his hand again. He had brought the one he got along with them. This caught Josuke off-guard.

“Really?” He motioned for Okyuasu to hand him the letter, which he did and sure enough. The words ‘you are free to invite anyone you want’ were right in front of him. Josuke stared at the words in front of him for a few moments before he suddenly sprung up from his seat.

He heard Koichi let out a “Josuke?” While Okuyasu looked at him and went “What ya doing bro?”

Josuke looked at Koichi and Okuyasu, the beginnings of excitement and slight mania building in his mind, “sorry guys, but I have to tell someone kinda important this!” He began to sprint off in the opposite direction of the cafe, Koichi and Okuyasu watching as there friend slowly disappeared over the horizon.

Koichi let out a slight sigh, he wasn't surprised that something came into Josuke’s head at that moment that completely derailed their plans for today, he also had no doubts that Josuke would no doubt apologize profusely for this later.

He took a slight sigh as he turned over to Okuyasu who was seemingly currently looking at the invitation to the wedding.

“...Okuyasu? What are you doing?” He asked, watching as Okuyasu turned his attention back to him.

Okuyasu glanced back down at the letter, “do you think they have free food?” He asked as he directed Koichi to look at the contents.

Koichi's eyes went to where the location of the event was happening, lightly grabbed it as Okyuasu gave it to him so he could take a closer look at it.

“To be honest I'm a bit more interested in the location…” he said as he looked at the address of the venue, which seemed to be in California. He'd have to look a bit more into this though.

“Where do you think Josuke ran off to?” Okuyasu asked, Koichi simply just turned to him and gave a slight shrug of his shoulders.

They could only presume what Josuke was thinking as he ran off in the direction of a certain red haired friend of his, determined to give her news she definitely already knew about.

-

Jolyne took a deep sigh as she looked at the light blue house in front of her, this was a stupid idea, why did she decide to do this? Wanting the whole family to the ceremony? That was a bit stupid considering the reason her father was marrying again but oh well she was already at the house.

She let out a breath as she slowly knocked on the door and waited a few moments.

She was about to just cut her loses when the door suddenly opened, revealing a dirty-blonde haired woman in a white blouse and light aqua skirt with lighter blue straps. Her hair having a few streaks of gray in it, her face having aged a bit with the subtle beginnings of what appeared to be crows feet by her aqua blue eyes.

It was then Jolyne realized she really hadn't seen her mother a lot lately, hadn't she?

“Jojo?” Her mother asked, her eyes widening in surprise at the sight at her “I didn't realize you were coming” she made the motions that insinuated Jolyne to come in.

Jolyne took a sigh as she walked into her mothers home, glancing up at the warm yellow walls that had long given her comfort. She had no idea how to say what she needed to say.

“So, why did you come here, Jojo?” her mother asked, snapping Jolyne out of her thoughts, she rather awkwardly fished out the invitation from her pocket and awkwardly handed it to her mother, who proceeded to grab and look at it.

Jolyne let out a slightly nervous chuckle, “so yeah…Dad’s getting remarried and it's happening in a few months..and im going..” she looked at the floor as one of her hands went to scratch her head, “I don’t even know why I'm telling you this cause I know you probably don't want anything to do with dad…”

Jolyne continued to ramble on, at this point regretting doing this at all. Not noticing as her Mother, who's name was Marina, continued to read the letter. Reading the words ‘wedding’ reminded her of her own…and how much of an utter trainwreck it was. A shutter going down her spine in response.

However, as her eyes began to reread it, a thought came to her head, due to the simple fact that there would probably be drinks at the ceremony. Which considering there most likely would be alot of adults would mean some of the drinks would be…

“I'm going” Mariana said suddenly, shocking Joylne who didn't expect her to say that. She stared at her mother for a moment before she replied to her. Her voice filled with concern.

“Mom…don't tell me you plan on crashing the wedding….” Jolyne looked like she was looking at something extremely dangerous at that moment. Marina simply let out a small laugh.

“Oh! No no no, Dear!” she began, walking over to Jolyne “I have no plans of crashing your fathers wedding, after all he found his happiness, it's just I have a plan on having some fun there myself.” she looked into Jolyne’s eyes, a almost mischievous hint present in her own “and by god am i gonna enjoy myself”

She began to walk over towards the kitchen “but that plan has absolutely nothing to do with your father or trying to get back with him.” She opened the refrigerator. “Now, do you want me to make you some lunch?”

Jolyne was silent for a few seconds before she said something, “....uhhh…sure, why not.”

The next half hour was a strange but rather domestic one, something that had happened many times over Jolyne's life, eating lunch with her mother, something she hadn't really done after she turned 15. Though there was the adage of her having a magic punching ghost and also the reason she was there was because her dad was remarrying someone.

Eventually it was time for her to go, she said goodbye to her mother and walked out the door into the late afternoon sky. She walked over to her silver colored car, put the keys in and drove to a gas station that was in the local area.

As she drove into the parking lot, eventually coming to a stop near the store parallel to the station, she found herself taking a long, deep breath. Before letting out a sigh that was partly filled with relief, confusion and slight fear.

She heard a beeping noise come from her pocket, she fished out the source of the noise, her phone. There on the screen was a simple text message from Hermes. Which she could only just stare at.

So, how'd it go?

…despite the overwhelming relief of her mother not planning on crashing her father’s wedding. That did not ease the rising pit of fear of what her mother would or could do there.

She could only hope that things would go well, but at the same time they were Joestars. And sometimes it felt like things never went the Joestars way. Be it visiting family, going to another country or going to prison.

The only thing she could do at that moment was put her head against the wheel and let out an even deeper sigh.

Notes:

Hey! fun fact this chapter, especially the first part with Jolyne, Hermes and F.F was made extremely gay in protest to the worst president America has ever had getting relected despite being a felon.

also despite Jotaro's ex-wife being in this, as mentioned before slightly ad nauseum she wont try and get back with him, there both living there own lives now, happy in there own ways. the reasons she's going is technically connected to him, but he's not the main reason, far from it. but trust me she's going to have a lot of fun at the ceremony, and due to a certain someone's arrival. that fun will be all the more warranted.

feel free to give critique or to guess want's going to happen next! have a nice day/night!...also F.F uses they/them pronouns because yes.

Notes:

thanks for reading! feel free to give critique and sorry if any of the characters are ooc. also i plan on working a bit more on some of my other fics and wips including this one and a few others.

Also incase it isn't obvious I have never made coffee before.

have a great day or night!
