Love is like a plant. One has to nurture it to grow strong and healthy, true. But, like love, some plants can grow in inhospitable places without any attention or willing desire; it’s just that resilient, refuses to die a quiet death and sprouts, blooms, grows until it’s impossible to ignore it.
Some loves— some plants are so persistent that they grow in people’s lungs.
Kaoru isn’t really surprised when he starts to experience the first signs, a sore throat and sporadic cough are easy enough to hide and downplay as some unsavory but harmless cold. The first petals are disgusting though. He can’t say he’s ready; however, he’s expecting it. Is this how he hurts Hikaru irreparably, by letting the flowers of unrequited love bloom and kill him?

"Though it doesn't make any sense. If we really died, then why are we back here?" Bucciarati asked, fully aware that none of them would have an answer.
"Do you think we got a second chance?" Narancia said, tears still present in his now wide open eyes holding barely contained excitement. "Like- real time travel shit?"
"Maybe we're still dead." Abbacchio said, just as gloomy as before.
"I doubt it. The afterlife was nothing like this." Bucciarati sighed while rubbing his forehead, recounting his headache from a few moments before. "I'm able to feel physical pain again, that has to mean something."
Abbacchio huffed in exasperation. "Assuming we have gone back in time, what do we do?"
"We change our fate and with a little luck on our side we might all survive this time."
