Chapter Text
The Tulpar still stands. The power is off, all besides the dim red glow of the emergency lights. Anya is lying on the floor of the lounge, down by the screen. There's a ringing in her ears. She pulls her hands to her head and feels for any injury's. She has a bloody nose and a small gash on her forehead, nothing she cant fix. She feels the rest of her body, a few scrapes and bruises on her legs and back. She'll be fine. She plants her hands on either side of her body and pushes herself up to a sitting position. Her head hurts as she does so, but the pain goes away after a few minutes. She looks around, there's cards scattered across the floor, the screen is still working, and the repair foam seeps out of cracks in the walls.
"ughh..."
"Daisuke?" Anya looks around for him but he's no where to be seen.
"ugh ehhh, I'm here..." His voice is weak, Anya turns to the sound and finds him trapped under a flipped over couch. She stands up slowly and walks toward him. She kneels by his side.
"I'm going to move the couch, okay?"
"euh okay..."
She grabs one end of the couch and lifts it up, it takes all of her streangth to fully move it off Daisuke. Once its off him, she helps him to sit up.
"Where does it hurt, Daisuke?"
"ugh, my back and my left arm and everywhere else haha..." He laughs weakly.
"hmm. Let me see your arm."
He holds it up to her as she feels the bones. "Nothing feels broken... I think its just bruised. There's some scraps too but they look manageable. Let me see your back." He turns around and lifts up his shirt, "oh, you've got a large bruise on your back, Daisuke." She lightly touches the skin, already a dark purple. Daisuke yelps and pulls himself away from her, his head on his knees, curled into a ball like a small child does when scared.
"oh Daisuke, I'm so sorry. are you okay?"
"uhggg.." he whines.
She puts a hand on his shoulder, he leans into the touch, mumbling something as he does so. "wheres everyone else?" he says weakly, his eyes starting to water.
"I don't know... Curly ran off when the lights turned on and Swansea-"
"Over here."
Anya gets up, "where are you?"
"In the corner."
She walks over to him and sure enough, he's sitting in the corner propped up by a flipped chair. He's holding the side of his face.
"Are you alright?" She asks kneeling down by his side.
"Yup, except for this gash on my cheek, I'm perfictly fine."
Anya leans closer, moves Swansea's hand away, and looks at the gash. It's deeper than hers and bleeding. "Keep putting pressure on it. Ill go to the med bay and get bandages." He gives her a thumbs up and puts his other hand back on his cheek.
She stands back up and walks out of the lounge. In the kitchen and dinning areas, theres a lot more repair foam on the walls. She leaves the room. The hallway is dark and foam litters the walls. The ship creaks and groans as she walks down the hallway. She gets to the med bay and opens the door.
The room is mostly still intact. Aside from the foam on the back wall and a few shattered glasses across the floor, it’s fine. She opens a cupboard on the left side of the room, the contents of the cupboard are trashed, but atleast they're still mostly in one piece. She takes out a roll of bandages and a bottle of Tylenol. With the supplies in her arms, she walks quickly back to Daisuke and Swansea.
She kneels back beside Swansea and takes the roll of bandages to his face, wrapping the gash up. “Are you feeling okay?” He nods as she finishes tying the bandage.
"Yeah, is Daisuke going to be fine?"
"We'll see." She hands him three tablets of Tylenol. Anya stands up and goes back to Daisuke, who's now attempting to stand.
"Daisuke! Sit back down!" She orders.
"i'll be fine, I wanna help." He says weakly, his legs wobbling.
Anya walks over to him and puts a hand on his shoulder. "Daisuke. Your hurt, please just sit back down and let me treat you."
He sighs and nods. The two of them sit down side by side. She gives him two tablets of Tylenol and starts bandegeding the cuts of his arm.
"thanks, Anya."
"Anytime, Daisuke."
She stands back up, still holding the medical supplies. "Im going to look for Curly." She breaths slowly, "...and Jimmy." Swansea nods and Daisuke gives her two thumbs up. "Daisuke don't move while I'm gone."
She walks back into the dark hallway. The red emergency lights cast an errie glow on the pipes. Her boots clang on the metal ground as she walks. The pipes have always looked messy, with the way they were overlapped on to each other, but it looked even worse with the repair foam seeping out from in between them. I wonder how the ship looks from outside... Anya thinks.
She gets to the cock pit. The door is covered in foam, but it looks like she can get through it.
She kicks and scratches at the foam, tearing it away from the door, just enough for her to get in. The door gives way, she squeezes through.
The cock pit is filled with foam, bits and pieces of the control panel are strung across the floor. And in the center,
“Oh my God, Curly?” She chokes out.
Captain Curly doesn’t look human anymore. His skin is gone. His legs are mangled below the knee, his arms too, below the elbow. The cartilage on his face is gone too, so is his hair. Blood is seeping out from everywhere. It pours out of his left eye socket, his eye missing. She can see all of his muscles, torn and bleeding. Bits of his flesh cling to the steering wheel, which is now shattered and lying around the room. He was right here when the Tulpar crashed.
She quickly begins bandaging his wounds, trying to stop the bleeding. “stay with me, Curly.” She whispers. “God don’t do this, Curly. Please.” The red glow of the emergency lights illuminates them as she works.
“Shit. Swansea!” She screams down the hall.
He comes in, Daisuke trailing behind. Swansea kneels down beside her, she hands him bandages and starts wrapping Curly’s arm. Daisuke also kneels down, Anya tells him to bandage the captains eye socket, which he does diligently.
"Help me carry him." Anya says. She gathers the medical supplies in her arms as Daisuke and Swansea lift Curlys body off the floor. They carry him down the dark hallways into the med bay, where they set him down on a bed by the wall.
"...is he going to be okay?" Daisuke asks tentatively.
Anya stares down at the captain, a bloody mass stares back.
"I don't know."
