Chapter Text
Alternative Ending, continuation of chapter one.
Armand’s apartment — close to the Heretics Bureau
Armand sat on his bed.
He closed his eyes.
Fuck.
He just— lashed out at Bai Liu, and goddamn he is probably dealing with a lot more right now—winning the league but at the cost of everything else he has.
He’s probably in a worse position than he is in right now.
He wipes his eyes.
[Seeing him like this… It hurts, doesn’t it?]
He blinked.
A voice?
It feels like he is being pulled into some scheme—
[I can offer you a chance.]
A chance?
[A chance to go back in time and see him again. The one you like.]
There isn’t any way for that— He got hit by the soul-shattering gun. Nothing in the world can remend it.
[I’m a god. I can do it.]
He wanted to yell and scold him that he can’t. That he can’t fucking recreate the one he loves and admires. That he can’t revive Mu Sicheng’s soul. The system has explicitly stated that that’s the case. And the system can’t lie.
And yet, against his better judgment in his grief-stricken state—
[I am the system.]
He raised his eyebrows.
[What does it entail, ‘god’?]
[Go back in time— Regress forever. Until you reach your goal.]
[What is the goal set?]
[Up to you. Getting his soul back? Making him fall in love with you?]
He heard the god chuckle, very much amused.
[How about both?]
He agreed.
In retrospect, he shouldn’t have.
He really shouldn’t have done that.
