Chapter Text
Luffy goes and chases after Ace. I stay and help Dadan and her bandits, it’s best if I make a good first impression!
He comes back sad, I ask him what the matter was.
“Ace doesn’t wanna be my friend” He complains “he keeps trying to make me leave him alone.”
“Oh well…I’ll come with you tomorrow.” I tell him
“Really?” He asks excitedly
“Yup!”
Then it was dinnertime, Luffy just got a bowl of rice, while I got fish and some chicken meat as well as I helped out.
“Here” I say, as I give him the meat
“What…you’re giving it to me?” He asks surprised
“Well, you’re pretty hungry so…you know. Also to say sorry for telling on you” I answer “besides, we live with bandits now, and Shanks isn’t here anymore so we only really have each other, you know?
“Right you are.” Luffy responds “and don’t worry, I forgive you for being a tattletale”
I’m going to be honest here, I gave him that food as an apology for being a snitch, but also so that he will like me. Luffy has freed quite a few countries in the anime because someone gave him food once. Hopefully his love of food and kindness will spread onto protecting his younger sister from all the crazy crap this world will throw on the 2 of them later on. I basically gave him my food as a precaution.
I could feel someone watching us and so I turned around. I saw Ace looking…kind of sad. Huh. Isn’t that interesting.
As I go to sleep in my own room, I think about how Ace was sad and…there was something else too, jealous?
Well, he’s never really had a family, unlike me and Luffy who have always had each other (no matter how much we annoyed one another) so of course he’d be at least sad.
I then remember what Ace was like at this age in the anime, and I realize that befriending him might be quite difficult. Well, we could always befriend Sabo….
The next morning arrives and I suggest something to Luffy.
“Instead of chasing Ace, let’s go see how far this forest goes!”
“We already know how far it goes though, it ends near the village.” Luffy responds
“I meant in the opposite direction” I clarify “besides, Ace doesn’t want to be our friend yet, but I’m sure he’ll come around eventually.”
“Uhh…I guess you might have a point.”
We walk around and try to find the end of the forest. While I do want Luffy to take a break from chasing Ace around, I also have another goal in mind: find Sabo. Where would Sabo be? Either with Ace (who I want to avoid until we befriend Sabo, so him being there would be pointless) or hanging out in gray terminal by himself.
We see the end of the trees and a flat area outside of it. There’s a giant heap of trash, gray terminal.
“Wow! I didn’t know this was here. You think this is where Ace goes everyday and doesn’t want me to follow?” Luffy asks
“Maybe.” I respond, I can’t seem too confident, now can I?
We walk in the terminal and I see exactly who I was looking for, a certain blond haired boy around Ace’s age.
