Chapter Text
Chatter in the precinct was at an all time low. The place felt dull, as though the world had been dyed blue. No amount of light could erase the emotional fog.
“Have you heard anything from Eraser?” Hitome asked Haetori. The venus flytrap quirked officer shook their head.
“Haven’t heard a peep.”
A sigh had them turning their heads to face the receptionist, whose desk they were loitering near. Saiki furrowed his brows. “It’s been a week. I don’t think I’ve ever been more worried in my life.”
Another officer drew into the conversation. “Surely no news is good news, right?” He asked worriedly.
Haetori lifted her arms in a shrug. “With Eraser? There’s no way to tell. For all we know the kid’s dead and he’s wallowing too deep in grief to do anything.”
Hitome gasped. “Haetori, don’t say things like that!”
Saiki shook his head. “I kind of get it though… if one of my daughters ever passed, I’m not sure if I’d be able to drag myself from their side. Ever.”
“Guys, stop.” Hitome sounded slightly desperate. “The kid’s fine, all right? I bet he and Eraser are just busy being a happy family while he fully recovers from his wounds. The kid will grow up to be a full-fledged pro hero, and work a bunch of cases with all of us, and Eraser, and everything will be fine!”
There was silence as Hitome’s chest heaved. Saiki was the first to crack.
“Yeah, the kid’s gonna be fine, right guys?” He sobbed.
Hitome and the other officer’s lips wobbled, while Haetori looked away.
“Right?” Saiki asked again. Haetori just placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, while they all sobbed.
“He was such a nice kid!” The other officer cried.
Hitome nodded jerkily. “Yeah, and- and Eraser loved him so much!”
They both jerked up as they felt a hand grab their shoulders, and they looked into the tearful eyes of Tsukauchi.
Haetori and Saiki watched too.
A tear fell down Tsukauchi’s cheek.
“Eraser called.”
Hitome worked her mouth, but no sound came out.
Haetori finally cracked. “Why… why are you crying?” She asked, shakily.
Saiki was sent off into hysterics.
“Guys, guys, guys. It’s okay.” Tsukauchi said gently.
“What do you mean it’s okay?! Aizawa junior is dead is he not?!” Hitome's voice pierced through the precinct, and everyone stared.
“No way…” another officer muttered.
“It can’t be true…”
Tsukauchi sighed, and they saw another tear fall.
Then, he raised his head to reveal a beaming smile.
Tears of joy.
“The kid’s alive.”
The staff froze.
Tsukauchi laughed hysterically. “Eraser called to tell us the kid’s alive. He woke up ten minutes ago!”
“What?!” Hitome shrieked. “Can- can we see him?”
“Eraser did tell us where to find him.”
“Wait-” Saiki said, “we can’t close the whole precinct, that would be a disaster.”
Haetori ended up surprising them. “Fuck it. We’re all going. We're just going to talk for a bit, after all.” She said with a grin.
Cheers rang throughout the precinct, and they all filed into their cars to see Eraser and his son.
The wide-eyed faces of Eraserhead and Aizawa Izuku as the whole precinct filed into the hospital corridor made the severe punishments they got worth every moment.
Even more so when years later, Pro Heroes Eraserhead and Deku came in to deliver their perps in person near daily, just to hang out with the precinct staff for a little longer.
Smiles were the most common sight for years to come.
That, and Haetori’s face on her desk, when she was told by Eraser and his kid that they ‘just wanted to talk’ to whatever unlucky criminal they caught that day.
No, she wasn't smiling, Deku. All the other officers who said so are lying liars who lie.
