Chapter Text
The firehouse was quiet when Trevor entered, and he didn’t like it.
Walking up the stairs, he was greeted to the sight of his family sitting on the couch. They all looked emotionally defeated, and even his mom had red eyes, indicating that she had been crying for a bit. A part of his heart arched for her, but another part harden a bit as well, as cruel as that sounded.
Yes, she and everyone else should be feeling bad.
Trevor dropped his bag onto the floor, creating a loud thump, which got the attention of the other three residents. Callie made a small noise before speaking up.
“Trevor! Um, hi.”
“Hi.” Her son replied in a monotone voice.
“You sleep well?”
“Yep.”
Again, there was a silence in the room. How was Trevor supposed to start this?? How were any of them supposed to start this??
“I guess you saw the video?” By talking, he supposed.
“We did.” Phoebe said quietly.
“Trevor, we-”
Callie was cut off by Trevor raising a hand, silencing her. “No mom. For once, please let me speak what I want to say.”
Any argument that the mother had was done when he said that.
Taking a deep breath, Trevor began to finally explain his emotions to his family. “I love you guys. I really do. You’re the best family I could ask for. But… god, will it kill you people to care about me for five minutes at least?!” He snapped, making the other three jump in surprise.
“I know I’m not that smart! That I’m not into science like some of you! And yeah, compared to that, my interest with cars and doing research on places that we go on missions to isn’t as glamorous or important looking. But I would like for you guys to at least attempt to try and understand them!! I try for you guys, so it would be nice if you to try to do the same for me!! Cause how is what we’re doing fair?!
“And I love you, Pheebs.” Trevor looked at his sister. “I really do. I mean, I practically helped raise you into the amazing young woman you’re becoming. But… I don’t even care about how bitchy this sounds, but I wish I would’ve gotten a thank you for that! I help you people all the time, take time out of my day to help you, but no “thank you, Trevor”, and whenever I need help, you don’t give it to me!
“And not only that, but I also feel like nothing compared to you guys! You make me feel like the black sheep, like I couldn’t come to anyone! Remember that bust last week, where I had to take the wheel of the Ecto?? You guys were all smiles and cheers while I was told “I love you honey, but try to keep the car still next time”. Do you know how sad that was to hear from you, my own mother?! I made me feel terrible about myself!!”
Trevor was fully aware of the tears that were rolling down his cheeks, but he didn’t care. As evil as it sounded, he wanted them to see just how much they hurt him.
“It came to the point where I legit didn’t want to come out to you guys about my bisexuality!! Not because I thought that you wouldn’t be okay with it or accept it, I knew you wouldn’t be like that. But with how you guys have become so dismissive of me, I didn’t say anything, because I knew that all that I was going to get was a “cool, can you pass me the remote”, which… fuck!!! I don’t want that for myself!! I want the hugs and the assurances that you guys gave to Phoebe when she told us about her being gay! I…” a small sob escaped from him. “I want the love to, damnit, adult or not.”
For the third time, silence filled the firehouse.
Trevor couldn’t bare to look at his parents or sister, as shame and embarrassment filled him. God, did he just seriously breakdown like that?? But… it also felt… relieving to finally let all that out.
He heard footsteps getting closer before they stopped. “Trevor.” His mom said his name gently as she took his face into her hands and gently lifted his face to look at her.
“Oh, baby. We’re so sorry that we made you feel this way.” She began, tearing up. “It was never our intention to make you feel under appreciated, unloved, and not important. God, Trevor, you are important to us. We all love you so much.”
“Your mom’s right.” Gary added in as he also came over. “You may not be into science like Phoebe and I, but you don’t need to be. Kid, you’re not just a member of this team. You’re the heart of it. Without your optimism, your knowledge in cars and research, and your warmth, we’d honestly be lost. We’d all be down in the dumps. And we’re really sorry for being terrible at showing it.”
“I’ve been pretty shitty to you to.” Phoebe joined in as well, lifting her glasses up to wipe away her tears. “You took care of me for eight years of your life. You put away your childhood so you could guarantee that I had one. And I never once thanked you for that. You did everything you could for me, and none of us thanked you for that. And I’m also sorry for all the snide remarks. I’ll… try to tone them down. But, I love you to, and as weird as it sounds, I do always kind of see you as a second dad.”
Trevor chuckled lightly at that. “It does sound weird.” He said, making his sister laugh as well.
“And we’re so sorry that we made you think that that we wouldn’t care about you coming out to us.” Callie said as she used her thumbs to wipe away the tears in her son’s face. “We are so happy that you did. And we will always love you for who you are. Always.”
Trevor gave all three of his family members a wobbly smile. That’s all he needed to hear.
And as Trevor was held in a warm and comforting hug by his parents and sister, he had the warm feeling that for once in his life in these past three years, that everything is finally going to be okay.

Two hours later, Trevor decided to finally address somethings, while also making a change to his Instagram username.
TrevorTheTallBoy🩷💜💙: Hi! Just wanted to take a second to address what’s been happening. First of all, thank you everyone for your support and kind words that helped make my day, especially you Ms. Stevie Nicks. I genuinely didn’t think I would get all of those nice words, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. Second of all, while I am thankful for the lovely comments you guys left, I did not appreciate how the person who posted that video recorded me and posted without my consent. I won’t say their name, but you know who you are. I’ll let it slide just this once, but don’t do it again. Also, yes. This is also me coming out as Bisexual. If you don’t like that, then respectfully, get the fuck out. And so, thank you all for your kindness, love each other for who you are, and remember, consent is always very important when it comes to the internet and social media.

One week later…
Trevor laid down on his bed, bored out of his mind. There weren’t any busts today, which was both weird and a relief since he and his family now had a day off.
Rolling his head to the left, Trevor saw the acoustic guitar that he bought for himself for his 16th birthday. Well, he supposed playing something wouldn’t hurt.
Getting up from the bed, he grabbed the guitar before sitting back down, sitting up completely. His mind went through a catalogue of songs that he knew how to play before deciding on one song. His fingers tuned in the strings of the guitar. After testing it out and was satisfied with the sound, he began to play.
“Oh yeah. Alright.”

Originally, Trevor didn’t want to go to Barnes and Noble to pick up Phoebe’s book for her.
Somebody’s Heine’, is crowing my ice box
But then, she promised free ice cream in exchange, so he relented.
Somebody’s cold one, Is giving me chills. Guess I’ll just close my eyes.
“Hi,” the employee greeted Trevor as he walked over. “How can I help you.”
Oh yeah, alright. Feels good, inside.
Trevor will admit, he couldn’t speak for a hot second. The boy in front of him around his age, but was shorter than him, reaching his shoulders. He had brown hair that looked soft to the touch. His skin was a very pretty tan color that made him look scrumptious. And his hazel-green eyes were drop dead gorgeous.
Flip on the telly, wrestle with Jimmy.
In short, this had to be one of the most beautiful men Trevor’s ever seen. Yes, Trevor also had a preference for women, but there was just something about the guy in front of him that made him re-evaluate which gender he may prefer more.
Something is bubbling behind my back.
Thankfully, he was able to pull himself together and respond. “Um, yeah. I’m picking up an order for my sister, Phoebe Spengler. She’s busy at school, but apparently couldn’t wait anymore and asked me to pick it up for her.”
“Oh! Yeah, I heard about you two.” The guy replied. “Let me get that for you.”
“Thanks.” Trevor replied. He stayed quiet before talking again. “Hey, this might be a weird question, but are you new to town?”
“Um, yeah.” The guy replied. “How did you guess?”
“I’ve never seen you around here before. That and I can hear some midwestern in your voice. I’ll guess… Indiana?”
“Close, Oklahoma.” The guy responded as he stood straight up again, book in hand. “The name’s Ashton Connor. But people call me Ash.”
“Trevor Spengler. Pleasure to meet you.” Trevor replied, shaking his hand. So soft and delicate…
“You go to school here?” He asked him as he took out his wallet to pay for the book.
“Yeah, NYU. You?”
“Taking a gap year. I start next year.” Trevor explained, taking out his credit card and proceeded to pay.
“Cool.” Ashton said, placing the book on the bag. “Well, here you go.” He said, handing the bag to Trevor.
“Thanks. But, before I leave…” Trevor pulled out two things from his pocket: a blue pen and a pack of yellow sticky notes. “Here…” he muttered as he jotted something down on the sticky note before pulling it out of the pack and handing it over to Ash. “That’s my number in case you wanna hang out sometime. You’re… actually pretty cute.”
Holy shit, did he just shoot his shot?? He’s never done that before!!
Ash smiled at him with a small blush. “I… I like that, actually.”
“Cool.” Trevor smiled back. “Have a nice day!” He said before he took the bag and began to walk out the store after hearing Ash wish him a nice day as well. A large smile appeared on his face: he succeeded semi-flirted with a cute boy, and he gets free ice cream?! This is truly a good day.
My love is a life taker.
