Chapter Text

It was the last day of Yuzu and Mei’s stay in the Tokyo area and they were about to get on a train to where they would be staying for the next week. They had eaten their breakfast and their parents had made sure they got them to eat lunch as well since it wasn’t exactly a quick trip to where they were going. They had planned on leaving Toyosu Station at 4:00 and arriving at 5-6 which now it was 3:55 and their train should show up any minute now.

“We’ll miss you girls! Please call us when you get there.” Ume hugged Yuzu and Mei in a group hug.

“We will Mama. Don’t worry. We’ll call you as soon as we reach our room.” Yuzu smiled and returned the hug.

“Huh. That’s strange.” Shou observed the station.

“What is?” Mei released herself from the hug and looked where her father was looking, but couldn’t see anything.

“They still haven’t announced that your train is close by. It should be here any minute now.” Shou looked at his watch and observed the tunnel the train was supposed to come through

“Hm. It’s probably late by a few minutes, I can't remember the last time a train was late anywhere in Tokyo.”

She had a point, late trains were extremely rare and almost never happened anywhere in Japan. However, that's not to say late trains never happened…

20 minutes later

The train still wasn’t here, and Mei especially was starting to get more tense. She got so anxious, she started to walk back and forth from the board back to where they were waiting. Then Shou or Ume would go check, and then Yuzu would, just so they wouldn’t be sitting down too much, the young married couple would be sitting in a train for 2 hours anyway.

This cycle would continue for about 5 rounds until it was Yuzu’s turn to check and a new row had popped up on the board

“2 hour delay?!” Ume exclaimed, their train’s row had been filled in red, which none of the family had seen before.

“Yup.” Yuzu sighed, yesterday was so perfect and romantic to her, and she knew it was rare to have a day on that level two times in a row. She was just hoping she would have enough time to complete her plans before the day ended. “And they don’t even tell us why.”

Meanwhile, Mei had been quietly sitting and staring at the ground intensely, greatly annoyed and irritated that this had to happen now and she couldn’t even blame anyone besides herself. It wasn’t her fault, she knew that, but she couldn’t blame the station or the driver since they wouldn’t delay just because they wanted to.

But Mei knew that problems were inevitable and they would just go through them and move on, just like every other problem they had faced, they still had each other at the end of the day after all.

“Mei, are you okay?” Yuzu noticed Mei wasn’t saying anything and sat beside her.

Mei looked up at her wife and sighed. “It's very disappointing, but it's not like we can go through an entire trip without a few problems.”

“Yea, you're right.” Yuzu leaned her head against Mei’s shoulder. “We have each other, that’s the most important thing right now.”

Mei nodded and leaned herself against Yuzu too, their parents weren’t the type to leave them just because of some delay and made sure they would get on the train safely and watch them leave, so that wasn’t a problem.

All they had to do was wait a while for the train and they could enjoy the rest of their day, and after that long wait, it finally did…

~-~-~-~

“We have arrived at Kyoto Station, all passengers for Kyoto may exit now.” The speaker played.

“Mei…” Yuzu whispered

“Hmphh..” Mei fluttered open her eyes a bit

“Mei, we’re here.” Yuzu responded

“Oh… sorry.” Mei removed her head from Yuzu’s shoulder and yawned.

“It’s alright.” Yuzu smiled, “Let’s go.” Yuzu stood up and offered her hand, which Mei accepted without hesitation. They walked out of the train and scanned their passes. Yuzu stretched her arms out and let out a yawn.

“Ahhh, we’re finally here. I didn’t feel that long the first time we came here!”

“Mhm. But we’re going to take that long to go back too, so we’ll probably get used to it. Anyway, we have just a few hours left, before the sun sets, we should probably find and check-in to our hotel." Mei said as she switched focus. They had woken up early to catch the train, they had hoped to be there by the afternoon, but due to a delay they ended up getting on at noon and it was now evening.

“Yea, good idea…” Yuzu said. “How’d you wake yourself up so fast anyway? You slept for 2 hours…”

“I have my ways.” Mei responded in the same tone

The two scanned their passes and reviewed their bags just in case. Soon, they passed around the oval shaped lane and were about to head out when-

“Oof!” Yuzu tripped on one of the cracks in the floor and fell, much to Mei’s surprise.

~-~-~-~

“Whoa! Calm down Nina!”

“If you're gonna break your promise, I won’t let you go to Mei!”

“I have to tell Sara what’s up or it just won’t do.”

“But I can’t let it end without baring my feelings. If I don’t, I’ll definitely regret it later.”

~-~-~-~

“But that never happened…” Yuzu thought

“Yuzu? Are you okay?” Mei reached out her hand, and Yuzu came back to Earth and realized what was happening. She flipped over and saw Mei, and gave a relieved smile

“Oh! Yea, just zoned out for a bit…” Yuzu said

“That’s the second time you’ve fallen on this trip, please be more careful. I don’t want you getting hurt.” Mei said in a blunt and serious tone.

“Sorry… it won’t happen again!” Yuzu apologized and increased her smile as she moved her head towards the main doors as Mei followed

The two exited the station and immediately saw Kyoto Tower, but they both knew it was better if they checked into their hotel first, then they could see whatever they wanted.

~-~-~-~-~-~

Unfortunately they couldn’t get the same hotel as the one they went to on their school trip, but it was fine since their vacation had already gone really well so far. A few inconveniences wouldn’t ruin the entire thing.

After they got to the hotel, they checked in to the front desk and got to their room. The room itself was pretty nice, there was a balcony and two beds, but they knew they were going to use one. The bathroom had a shower and bath, and the entirety of the room was lit with a fluorescent bulb. In a way it kinda reminded Yuzu of the hotel they had during their school trip.

“It’s already getting late and we just got here, so I think we should eat dinner somewhere close by or we can have the hotel’s dinner.” Mei proposed. Mei had some things she wanted to see, but with the inconveniences earlier in the day, she decided it was best they postpone they for tomorrow

Yuzu was a bit disappointed, but knew Mei was right. Both of them had a tiring day and it was best if they planned to do whatever they wanted tomorrow. “Yea.. I don’t mind just eating here, iit is pretty late.” she said as she unpacked some of her luggage.

Mei could sense that Yuzu wasn’t as happy with the compromise, but Mei was still grateful Yuzu understood Mei’s logic. “Hey.” Mei said and tapped Yuzu’s shoulder. As soon as Yuzu turned around, she felt something on her lips, but it wasn’t Mei’s own. “I know you had plans to do today, but it’s not in neither of ours control, so please don’t be upset. I promise whatever you wanted to do today, we’ll do it all tomorrow.”

Yuzu blushed and pushed away the small bear Mei had placed off her mouth, revealing her smile. “Mei… thank you, you read me so well…”

Mei returned the blush and looked away. “I mean… I love you, so it would make sense.”

Yuzu giggled at her response. “I love you too.” Yuzu turned her focus back to bear Mei was still holding. “I didn’t know you were going to bring Anthoniko.” Mei smiled

“I thought she deserved to come with us.” Mei said oddly without a problem, considering she was blushing a few seconds ago.

“She definitely does!” Yuzu then remembered their original conversation and finished unpacking her luggage, not to keep Mei waiting.

The two soon headed downstairs and decided to eat their dinner in the hotel room since they had more privacy and their balcony had a table and chairs on it. The food was actually pretty good, but they did plan on eating at the hotel again since they knew they couldn’t dine out every night.

While they sat on the balcony, Mei thought back on this vacation and felt happy with what she had accomplished. Almost everything she and Yuzu tried to do had a problem occur, but they had moved past it. And she hadn’t forgotten her original motive, to make Yuzu never feel sad and never forget where their story started and was determined to continue that happiness.

After they finished their food, they got one last look at the city and view on the balcony and took their baths and got ready for bed. Although things hadn’t gone Yuzu’s way today, her mood was more cheerful thanks to Mei’s assurance.

As they got into the bed, they realized that the bed was a bit smaller than they thought it was going to be. To be fair, the beds they slept in their home and their parents' apartment were giant, so in truth it wasn’t really that small. The last time the two remembered when they had a bed like this was before they even met each other.

But it wasn’t really a problem, since they cuddled every single night. “Just make sure you don’t push me over in the middle of the night.” Mei said, trying to light up the mood

“H-hey! I never even did that!” Yuzu let out her own laugh. “And I don’t plan on starting tonight.”

After Mei turned the light off, she lied down beside Yuzu who was waiting for her. As soon as Yuzu wrapped her arms around Mei’s waist, Mei’s worry started to decrease and focused more on Yuzu than anything else.

“Goodnight Mei. I love you.” Yuzu kissed her neck

~-~-~-~-~-~

Creak

“Oh?”

“Hm. You must have been tired.”

“Goodnight MeiMei.”

“Listen. As soon as Himeko falls asleep, you return to your room.”

“Y-yeah.”

~-~-~-~-~-~

“N-no… don’t… go” Mei said she wrapped her arms around Yuzu’s shoulders

“H-huh?!” Yuzu wasn’t sure what Mei was actually thinking, nor could she see Mei’s face that clearly. “Did she react like that because of my kiss?” Yuzu panicked.  They had been intimate lots of times on this trip, especially when they had the apartment to themselves. But she didn’t expect such a reaction from a goodnight kiss.

She then realized the she never actually responded to what Mei said,

“M-maybe one more won’t hurt…” Yuzu thought hesitantly, she moved up a bit closer to Mei’s neck, but before she could act she felt something touch the front dome of her head, she at first thought it was Mei’s chin, but was slightly wrong.

“I love you too.” Mei said as she removed her lips from Yuzu’s head and fell asleep. Meanwhile Yuzu was left feeling confused and teased, still blushing at what just happened. She wanted to kiss Mei again, but knew better than to kiss someone who just fell asleep. Maybe she could get what she wanted in the morning, but right now she was going to enjoy Mei’s warmth.

When she fell asleep, she had several strange dreams, one of which she remembered on her knees in a hallway in a hotel… and she remembered for the most part where she was.

Meanwhile Mei would say she had some good dreams, and with Yuzu in her arms it only just helped it. But she definitely enjoyed Yuzu more than the dream

The next morning the rays of sun started to come through the window, Mei was the first one to wake up. She slowly unwrapped her arms around Yuzu, hoping she didn’t ruin her sleep. She wanted to wake her up with a kiss like Yuzu would on other days, but her lips were currently being blocked by her pillow. She decided to just kiss her cheek instead and hoped she felt it.

She got off the bed and opened the blinds, smiled back at her wife and walked onto the balcony. As soon as Yuzu stopped hearing Mei’s footsteps, she opened her eyes and started silently freaking out. Even though it was just a kiss on the cheek, she still loved it and now really wanted to get Mei back.

She then looked up and noticed her wife standing on the balcony, looking at the view, almost feeling as if she was missing out. Of course, she made sure her deep blush died down a little.

Mei felt something soft on her cheek and instantly knew what it was. She had a suspicion her wife wasn’t actually asleep, but playing along with Yuzu’s game was more fun.

“Good morning to you too Yuzu.” She said as she felt the lips leave her cheek. Turning around to see the blonde

“Good morning!” Yuzu smiled and hugged Mei. Mei could definitely sense Yuzu’s excitement for today, but was a bit confused when Yuzu looked at her as seriously as she could. “But first…” Yuzu pointed to Mei’s cheek “That was for this morning, and…” She stood on her tippy toes as tall as they could reach and reached Mei’s forehead barely. “...That was for last night.”

Meanwhile, Mei found the whole thing amusing and cute. She would’ve gotten down to Yuzu’s height if she asked, but she let Yuzu have this.

“Speaking of which…” Yuzu continued as she remembered last night. “Why did you… um, say… that last night. And why so… I think you know by now.”

Mei blushed a bit as she recalled last night and what she said before she fell asleep. “I just… remembered something and it was related to you.” She herself was a bit embarrassed by her words, she wasn’t the type of person to get carried away in anything, well unless if Yuzu was there, then she wouldn’t mind.

Yuzu was a bit confused by Mei, but then remembered what happened at the station and what she remembered there. Now she 100% knew what Mei had felt about her kiss. “It’s fine, it was pretty cute anyway.” Yuzu said casually, leaving Mei even more embarrassed. “So… ready to enjoy the day?”

Next thing they knew, they had finished their breakfast and were walking on their way. The clear sky, cool breeze, busy streets, and leaves that were starting to fall. It gave a nice and warm feeling. In a way, it did feel like love was in the air.

Mei had no idea where they were going, all that she knew was that Yuzu predicted that they would be going to Kyoto and had made plans for the both of them. She decided that Yuzu deserved to get no complaints or questions from her, since Yuzu had planned this part.

Mei noticed that Yuzu was staring at the ground while they were walking. Mei knew either her wife was thinking about something or something was wrong. “Yuzu are you alright?”

“Huh? Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking about my plans.” Yuzu gave Mei a smile and held her arm closer, not caring if they were in public. “Thank you for worrying about me.”

“Of course.” Mei smiled and blushed a bit, but she still felt something was off.

Her first location was pretty simple, shopping at Kyoto station. She didn’t know of any big malls in Kyoto, but did see some stores at the station.

“What store do you want to see first Mei?” Yuzu said cheerfully as they reached their destination “I’m okay with anything you want to see.” Yuzu smiled and looked at Mei, who was looking down the hallway

Mei looked at the options that were closer to her. “Hmm. Maybe… this one?” Mei walked over to a clothing store. She herself wasn’t interested in clothes, but knew she always had fun when she went clothes shopping with Yuzu.

“Sounds good to me!” Yuzu took Mei’s hand and walked in, knowing Mei picked this for her, but still appreciated it.

Yuzu had planned to go to a few places, so she didn’t want to carry a bag around or interrupt their date by going back to their hotel, so she decided that maybe she could find something special for them but also something that wasn’t too big.

She was starting to give up hope in a clothing item, but then something caught her eye…

“Mei! Look!” Yuzu gasped and pulled Mei over to what she was so interested in.

“A hair bow?” Mei asked, it was just a rack with a bunch of bows in different colors and designs.

Yuzu overdramatically gasped at Mei’s calm attitude “Not just any bow!” She picked up a specific bow off the rack. “You had a purple bow like this when you were young!” Yuzu exclaimed.

Mei couldn’t help but chuckle at her wife’s reaction. It was such a small thing, but she cared about it so much, that itself was cute to Mei.

“W-well? I-It is right?” Yuzu seemed a bit nervous, she kept looking at the bow and back at Mei.

Mei looked at the bow and smiled, she felt a bit warm thinking of how Yuzu remembered that. “Yes, it is indeed.” When they had picked their photos for their wedding invitation, they had seen a gallery of each side's photos. Of course, Yuzu loved every single one of Mei’s and Mei feeling the same about Yuzu’s, remembering a purple-indigoish bow in some of her school photos.

Thinking of her past, she knew Yuzu wanted her to feel special, but didn’t want Yuzu to feel left out. Especially since she was the one who was giving her this date.

“Yuzu… is it okay if I buy one?” Mei asked timidly

“I wouldn’t mind, wearing one color might get a bit boring.”

“I-I mean buying you one…” Mei blamed herself for not saying her question properly the first time

If anything Yuzu should’ve expected this, but for some reason she didn’t. To her, she must’ve thought Mei wanted to match with her, which was partly true.

Yuzu couldn’t help herself, although they were in public, she kissed Mei’s cheek for a good few seconds, much to Mei’s embarrassment, but not displeasure. “I…I would love that Mei!”

Yuzu turned back to look at the variety of colors a bit closer. “Well… which one do you think I look best in?” she couldn’t help but blush at her phrasing

Mei viewed all the colors, she knew they all would look great on Yuzu, but there was one she thought looked the best.

“How about this one?” Mei grabbed a reddish-pink bow off the shelf, pretty much identical to her school top.

“I-it looks good on- to me! Good to me!.” She was still processing the fact that Mei didn’t have a problem with matching in public… well casually. The only time they would match was on special occasions.

“So um… are we going wear them now or-”

“Now!” Yuzu didn’t mean to cut her off, but it only showed that she was way more eager than how she was acting. “I- I mean…”

“Alright then it's settled.” Mei smiled and a few minutes later, the accessories were bought and they had tied them to their hair.

“Well? How does it look?” Mei turned her head horizontally so she could still she Yuzu a little

Yuzu’s mouth was open, but she wasn’t saying anything. Mei couldn’t see her clear enough to see her eyes though.

“Yuzu…?” Mei asked a bit more nervously and turned her head back, but caught a glimpse of Yuzu’s eyes wide and face pink

“Oh! Yes Mei?- Oh! It looks really cute… really really cute.” Yuzu smiled, pretending to act casual but failing in the process. “W-what about me? Do I look good too?”

While Mei’s hair was fundamentally left untouched, Yuzu had to take out some bands so she would have some more space to tie it.

“You always look good, Yuzu.” She gave Yuzu a sincere smile, ending up one-upping Yuzu’s response while at it. “But you look cute… as well.”

They looked around some other stores, but didn’t find anything unordinary. But they did find a souvenir shop, but agreed that they’d go on another day since it was already a little past noon at this point.

Lunch was next on Yuzu’s plan, there were dozens of them, but to her surprise one of the stores caught Mei’s eye.

“Yuzu, can we eat here?” Mei was already practically standing inside the shop. Yuzu would read the sign, but was far too under it to make out anything but did see pictures of ramen beside her. Then again… Mei was the one asking, so why would she ever say no?

“Sure! I’m up for anything!” Yuzu followed Mei inside and found a table to sit at. The atmosphere felt pretty decent and all the food smelled delicious.

“I’m sorry.” Mei said out of nowhere, a sense of guilt in her voice

“Huh?” Yuzu perked up her head from the menu

“You probably had somewhere in mind you wanted us to eat, and I made you change it.”

“Mei.” Yuzu reached her hand across the table and onto wife’s. “You know that I have no problem with it. If anything, since you chose it, it’s probably going to be really good. And if I have to change my plans for you, I’d do that in a second.”

Mei thought it was a bit funny Yuzu was acting like this over a restaurant, but honestly did feel like tearing up over how kind she was being.

“Thank you, Yuzu… I-”

“But why did you choose this restaurant though?”

“O-oh… it's.. It's because of the name.” Mei looked away, this was the part that she thought was kind’ve embarrassing for her.

“Name?” Yuzu looked around, she just realized that she never actually knew where exactly they were. Until she did see the name of it on the wall.

“Ramen… yea yea- Kumagorou?”

“Ohhh” Yuzu said aloud, making Mei more embarrassed. Although lots of people know who Mei is and how her attitude is, Yuzu is one of the only people to see when actually Mei has a light-hearted motive behind what she does.

“It's not that embarrassing.” Yuzu smiled at her wife. “I think it's kinda adorable about you.”

Maybe if Yuzu wasn’t across the table, Mei would’ve tried to give her a kiss, but decided that there’s always later.

Their food arrived soon after and started enjoying their meal. Mei was eating her noodles just fine, however Yuzu noticed they tasted sour. When she asked Mei, she said it was how it was supposed to taste. Yuzu felt like she knew what it was, but could not figure out what. It felt so obvious, it almost felt like she was forgetting her name…

Once lunch was over with, they left the mall and were on their way again. But they weren’t walking for long since Yuzu’s next stop was Kyoto tower and it was a few minutes away.

By this point, it was transitioning into evening and the sun was starting to set. They climbed up the stairs and onto the main lookout area. They both remembered the last time they were on this tower, both with different reasons, Mei especially.

“I wonder what Sara and Nina are up to.” Mei said aloud, it had been a while since they had seen their old friends. Not like they had forgotten about them, just been a few months since they talked.

“I hope they’re doing alright.” Yuzu replied. The two were living their own lives and would visit once in a while, sometimes even stay over. Sara had started dating someone a few months back and was living happily. Meanwhile, Nina was still single and refused to date anyone Sara had tried to set her up with, but strangely enough she still maintained the same positivity and cheerfulness she always had. Not even Sara knew how she was like this… the only one who had some sort of clue was Yuzu.

“Mei? Can I ask you something?” Yuzu asked, but sounded more nervous than anything.

“Of course. Something wrong?” Mei answered, transferring her view of Kyoto to Yuzu.

“No.. nothing like that, it's just… did you enjoy today?” Yuzu asked

“Yuzu, why are you asking this? Please tell me if something’s wrong.” Mei started to worry, her eyes giving a pleading look, she wondered if she did anything wrong.

Yuzu sighed, knowing she couldn’t lie to Mei with those eyes. “I… I didn’t actually have a lot planned for today. My original plan was to do what I’m going to do this evening yesterday, but the train got delayed, and we didn’t have any time to explore and… yea… I’m really sorry, Mei.” Yuzu was expecting Mei to be in a quiet tone or avoid eye contact, but instead heard laughing. At first she thought it was someone else, but then looked over to see Mei holding her hand over her mouth.

“M-Mei?” Yuzu was taken aback, but enjoyed hearing the laugh that was rare from her wife.

“Yuzu, do you remember what I said on the second night of this trip?” Mei finally stopped her laughing, but was smiling from cheek to cheek with dim eyes.

Yuzu recalled what happened that night, it was the same day she and Mei had fallen into the fountain and she was scared what Mei would think of her for ruining their shopping date. After a few seconds, she had her answer. “That what matters is the memory we’ve made?” Yuzu asked Mei

Mei moved a few steps closer to Yuzu. “Mhm, and what did I do after that?”

Yuzu took way less time to answer this time. “You kissed me-”She wasn’t able to finish that sentence since something delicate met her lips and also saw who it was, Yuzu didn’t have any second thoughts in returning the soft embrace. Unfortunately, Mei pulled away before Yuzu could enjoy it any further.

“You know I’m never going to not be happy when I’m with you, Yuzu.” Mei sighed and shook her head “It seems like I have to repeat myself often around you.” Mei tried to sound disappointed but really couldn’t with her smile.

Yuzu giggled “I know, sorry Mei, but I AM your wife, so you’ll probably be repeating yourself for your entire life.” She was a bit impressed how romantic Mei was being right now

Mei blushed and started walking towards the stairs. “Well… if it’s you, then I wouldn’t mind…” leaving Yuzu way more impressed and made her wear the same blush as she did, but soon realized Mei was already gone

“M-Mei! Wait for me!” She walked after her down the stairs. They reached the bottom and Yuzu realized Mei hadn’t actually answered her question. “But… did you have fun today?”

Mei smiled. “I would say so, it seemed fun just walking around and seeing the things around us.” she thought back to Yuzu’s reason why she was nervous in the first place. “Y’know, we can talk and plan things to do for the week while we walk to Yasa- I mean, your next stop.”

Even though it was purely a simple thought, Yuzu hugged Mei without warning. “I would appreciate that Mei! I love you so much!”

Mei blushed and would’ve put a strand of hair behind her ear if she wasn’t captured by Yuzu’s arms. “I love you too…”

As they walked towards the final place for the day, Yuzu looked up on her phone on locations or attractions in Kyoto. Most of them were shrines which weren’t bad, but were definitely not the best choice. They found a movie theater that was near the station and some other places, and soon they arrived at the final destination: Maruyama Park.

They continued planning and talking about how the day went, and Yuzu talked about how excited she was for the week and somehow changed the subject to how much she enjoyed the entire vacation, which soothed Mei’s mind and did boost her ego a bit.

The park was really nice, although it was dark, the lanterns gave the trees light and the colors they produced. It seemed way more enjoyable than chasing after someone through it. Yuzu had the idea that maybe they should also come next spring when all the cherry blossoms had ripened, which Mei said she would take into consideration.

After just walking and talking for about 30 minutes, knowing that it was getting way too dark for them to be out, they decided it was time to leave. They however knew that they had plenty of days to revisit and maybe stay for way more time.

“Wait Mei, I have one more place I want to see, it only takes a few minutes from here. Is that okay?” Yuzu held Mei’s hand in place and stopped her walking

“Very well, as long as we don’t take too long.” Mei actually had a good idea of where Yuzu was going to take her and if she was right, they would be ending today’s date in a perfect way.

After about 5 minutes, they arrived at what was Yuzu’s original plan for today.

“Hmm. This place looks very familiar.” Mei said with a small grin, she already knew where they were.

“You think?” Yuzu said with the same grin, this place was probably the most sentimental place of Kyoto.

“So you're not going to tell me where we are?” Mei said, still wearing the same smile, but now looking at Yuzu.

“I don’t think I need to.” Yuzu said, letting out a small laugh

There was an awkward silence between them, both of them didn’t know who was going to do the next move. But after maybe a minute of no talking, Mei decided to break the silence.

“So… um are you gonna- oof!” Yuzu had basically wrapped an arm around Mei and pushed her down the ground with her, she didn’t want to dropkick her again.

“Did that hurt? Sorry, but I think it would’ve been better if I didn’t give a warning.” Yuzu pulled up some, so she wasn’t talking to Mei’s shoulder.

Mei sighed, but couldn’t wipe the smile off her face. “No, I’m okay.” Mei gazed up at Yuzu “You’ve been waiting to do this since the start of this trip, haven’t you?”

“Maybe~” Yuzu said with a hint of playfulness. “Thank you, Mei. Thank you for everything…” Now it sounded like she was about to cry

“And thank you Yuzu, without you, my life would’ve never been perfect.” Mei reached up to Yuzu’s face to wipe a tear that just formed.

“I love you Mei, and I will for the rest of my life.”

“I love you too, Yuzu. And I won’t ever stop until the day that I die.”

And with that, in the same place, the same time, and the same two lost girls. Who experienced the same feelings all those years ago, continued their story together of love that will always go on and on.

Notes:

And that's the end of Memory Ln.! Thank you everyone who supported this fic on the way. As some of you know, this is my first ever fic, and it was was a completely new experience for me. I'm sorry for taking so long to post some of the final chapters, I had to put equal attention to school. The citrus' locations website on Crunchyroll also went down and it was soon fixed afterwards, a weird thing also happened to the Aqua City street view, but that also got fixed. As a thank you, here's (most of) the Google Maps locations for Citrus and Citrus+ I posted to the CitrusManga reddit. I know some of you are already in that sub, but its really the least I could do.

I'll also be reupdating the notes at the end of every chapter soon because I feel like I didn't actually put enough effort into saying what locations were real and what were from the manga.

At the end, when I say "lost girls", I mean that they didn't know what they're future and were curious on they're journey.

I don't know if anyone can find the hotel they stayed at in the manga or if it even is real, so the hotel in this fic isn't really based on anything, the same thing can be said with the shop they went to here.

Yes, there is a restaurant in Kyoto station that's called Kumagoro. The restaurant is called "Ramen Kanjido Kumagoro" and they serve ramen with some citrus/yuzu in it, which is why Yuzu felt like she was tasting something obvious.

Again, thank you everyone for supporting this fic, I think maybe I'll do some oneshots next? I have some ideas, but I still don't know yet, however it would be better of doing one quick story at a time then doing something long term. But I do have my idea prepared for my next series. Hope you all have a great day!

If you read this, thank you!

This is not over, I just have no idea how to add a ? at the denominator chapter lol. I still have many places I want to do so keep an eye out!

The hardest part about writing this was to come up with who planned the vacation, but I chose Mei because I feel like Yuzu would be the one to start remembering memories.
