Kaku woke up with a groan, his mouth was dry and was accompanied by a painful throbbing headache. Telltale signs of a brutal hangover. He sighed loudly as he stretched his arms above his head. His back and neck made a sick cracking noise, maybe passing out on the couch wasn't the best idea.
This was the last time he was getting hammered with Jabra and Fukurou, ESPECIALLY if Spandam was involved. The chief might be a royal pain in the ass with a bratty attitude that made Kaku want to punt him out the nearest window, but he was unfortunately charismatic (ugh) and great at getting under your skin.
So when he waved the huge bottle of expensive Elbaf aquavit in Kaku's face with a crooked grin, going on about how he 'knew he couldn't handle his liquor and wouldn't even be able to take a sip before passing out' Kaku already knew it was over. Because he isn't stupid, he knew exactly what Spandam was doing, he was provoking him, setting him up.
Gods, he hated that stupid grin of his, and his stupid ugly face.
But Kaku swiftly grabbed the bottle from Spandams hand anyway, ripping the cork off and started chugging.
He makes a grimace as he remembers the taste, bitter and unspeakably unpleasant. It felt like he was downing an entire flask of hand sanitizer.
Once Kaku decides he's had enough of sitting on the couch, regretting his life choices, does he finally get up, making his way slowly towards the kitchen.
He was praying to every god there was that there was something edible he could eat that 1. Wouldn't make him throw up immediately, and 2. He wouldn't need to cook.
What he'd love is Kumadori's baking, he'd started baking bread as a hobby recently and even though no one would admit it, every single member of the team loved it and would sneak any opportunity to get several slices.
Although Kaku wasn't sure Lucci liked it because he hadn't seen him eat it himself, he would bring it to his room, most likely to Hattori. That spoiled little bastard pigeon. Lucci never settled for second rate when it came to caring for that bird. Getting pampered like that all the time must be nice.
Once he was at the kitchen door he opened it up, turning on the lightswitch next to the door, bathing the kitchen in a soft warm light.
Kaku yawns slightly as he looks over to the fridge but freezes in place with his mouth open and eyes wide.
The fridge door was open, and scattered around it lay opened packs of fruit and meat as well as crumbs of bread. This was all fine and good if not a bit inconvenient, no what made his jaw drop was the unknown short figure squatted in front of the fridge, an entire loaf of bread shoved in their mouth.
This all happens in a split second while they lock eyes and he can barely make out some of the figures' features before they slam their hand on the light switch next to the fridge. Reddish pink eyes and messy white hair.
He lets out a garbled confused noise before he quickly turns on the light again and is met with none other than Hattori in place where the figure stood, standing on top of a loaf of bread.
His breath hitches and he looks rapidly back and forth, scanning the room intently for the intruder, before it slowly lands on Hattori again.
Was he still drunk? It didn't feel like it. Whatever he saw made him more alert than he's been since he woke up, but Hattori just stands there, the little shit just tilting its head at him before it suddenly flies towards him. Kaku let's out a shriek in shock but Hattori just flies past him through the door, making sure to hit the side of his face with its wing before he disappears into the dark hallway.
Kaku just stands there, looking into the hallway with a blank expression on his face, the gears turning slowly in his head, his processing still slow from the shock and hangover.
