--------------------------------------------------------------

“We’re finally here! I’m so excited,” Constance said, jumping out of the School Bus that drove them to the fair. The fair was pretty good, like every year. It’s not like there was something better in Uranium. The fair had bumper cars, gravitons and of course, The Cyclone. There weren’t lots of people, most of them were either in school or working. They were pretty happy, they wouldn’t have to wait.

They entered a little house with a fortune telling machine. Ocean didn’t like that, but she entered first. His name was Karnak.

“Your lucky number is 7. You will soar to great heights. Be sure to Ride the Cyclone,” that’s what it told all of them. But Constance. She wasn’t there. She disappeared, but no one noticed. Did someone ever notice her? Would anyone ever notice if she disappeared… completely?

They went to the Bumper Cars, Ocean’s favorite ride. Noel bumped Ocean on purpose, multiple times. It was so funny seeing Ocean so mad. Then, they went to the Ferris wheel. Mischa and Noel went together, Ocean and Penny too and Savannah went alone. She noticed Constance wasn’t there. But she supposed she got overwhelmed and needed to rest, so she didn’t say anything.

Suddenly, just before they rode the cyclone, Constance appeared. She’d never miss her favorite ride. She was putting her hair in her usual buns.

“Where the fuck were you?” Mischa asked.

“Uhm... It doesn’t matter now,” she started fidgeting with her fingers. “Let’s just- uh, go. Please.

They bought the tickets. Ocean was suspicious of the carnie. He seemed drunk, but she didn’t say anything. Savannah and Penny sat in the last cart, Mischa and Noel in the middle one and Ocean and Constance in the front one.

The ride started. They were screaming with joy, having fun and laughing. Ocean was the first to realize the roller coaster broke. She tried to tell the others, but all that came from her mouth were incoherent screams. Constance looked at her laughing, thinking she was having fun. When she looked down, when she realized everything, her expression didn’t change at all. She even looked happier. Mischa and Noel started hugging each other, like it would help. Penny screamed ‘help’ as high as she could, and Savannah looked away, too shocked to react. They were sailing through the space, with no up or down. They felt a little strange from all that spinning round.

Ocean hit the ground first. Then, Savannah, breaking all of her bones. Noel fell on his back and Mischa fell on top of him. They didn’t die immediately. Constance, who was at the top of the world, closed her eyes and smiled. Penny’s head was cut off by the rails, and it went away, completely unrecognizable. Her body hit Constance, and they both collapsed on the ground.

--------------------------------------------------------------

They started hearing a voice.

“I know this dream of life is never ending, it goes around and round and never ends...”
