His breathing was low and shallow. When Aki ran a hand over his head in a feather-light touch, his breathing hitched and a vicious growl sounded from his stomach.
That doctor had been full of bullshit. Something was wrong with Denji, and Aki would be damned if he was going to let it take him away.
"I'll find a way to fix this," he whispered.

Denji took a step toward the mirror.
The ghoul stepped with him.
Three more steps brought him up to the sink. He grabbed its edges, allowed his head to drop down, and let out a hoarse laugh that was nearly a sob. His head was an aching mess, but one clear thought managed to break through the haze. Aki was going to kill him.
