Chapter Text
Sailor walked through the markets, people selling fruits and fish, some bargaining and some realising they were scammed, the wonderful cult life. He'd been with the eyes of Unix since he was nine, taken away from a broken family and a burning home, they say they saved him but the cult is the furthest thing from salvation. Being forced to murder innocents in the name of a god who abandoned them, what would sacrificing his descendants even do?! Bring Unix back? highly doubted.
As sailor contemplated a shout came from the other side of the street, a familiar figure walked towards him, Sturgeon and old friend. "Yo, how ya doin!! Watcha contemplating." Sturgeon as always, was way too happy for his own sake.
"Nothing, just having some doubts about this place," Sailor was in no way a devout to Unix, the entity worshiped by the eyes of Unix, but to survive out with these demented cultists some lying has to be done. Sturgeon was the complete opposite of Sailor, he was a devout follower of Unix, how did they even manage to become friends??
Sturgeon froze, turning to Sailor, "Don't be silly Sailor, theres nothing to doubt about the Eyes of Unix, don't you remember how they saved you?" he gave a eerily warm smile to Sailor, "Look how happy you are now!" Sailor stared at him deadpanned, eventually realizing they were blocking the natural flow of the busy street he started walking in a random direction.
"Sturgeon seriously, why are we even killing Unix's descendants! Has it worked yet? No!" Sailor continued his rant his hand movements getting more exaggerated by the second, "Is Unix back from his mystical vacation to another realm? How many people have we killed in pursuit of this hypothetical deity!" Sturgeon grabbed a hold of Sailor's shoulders, halting his movement. Sailor continued his rant, "Have you even thou-."
"Sailor, I don't think you're fine," The grip on Sailors shoulder did not ease, "You should clear your mind a little, do some worship, take a chill pill." Coincidentally where they had both stopped was in front of the house of worship, a building of grand stature and high importance. Sailors little rant attracted some unwanted attention, devotees pretending to continue conversations while sending hateful glares in Sailors direction, he crumbled under the pressure of Sturgeon and the other cultists watchful eyes and walked into the house of worship.
The interior of the house of worship was a sight to behold, banners of tales told across the realm adorned the walls, filled with vibrant colours. One banner stood out to him, it always did, the image of a descendant being decapitated. He stood in front of it, admiring the image, it displayed the descendant as the centre of the image, long hair being cut off along with the rest of the head, golden blood spewing from the wound and Unix appearing from above to the crowd of devotees. Two reasons Sailor was ever drawn to this particular banner is firstly because it was infact his job to bring descendants of Unix to the Cult and second is because of his growing hatred for the scene displayed. The descendants never did anything but exist, *most* (lookin at you azreal) of them leading peaceful lives and helping the people around them and the Eyes of Unix massacred them for a deadbeat god.
He thought to the most recent descendant he condemned to certain death, Null. Though Sailor knew him for meerly a few hours (for most of which Null was peacefully 'sleeping') Null was a good person, Sailor may have been breaking into his house with intention of harm but he noticed the way Null fought almost as if he was holding himself back as to not hurt Sailor too much. Null is a good person (and admittedly kinda hot but Sailor is not going to expand on that thought for now) its a shame his fate is sealed... or maybe he doesn't have to die.Sailor has an idea.
-
Null layed on the dusty floor of his prison cell and stares at its ceiling, its around 3 pm according to the voices of the people outside, they seem so cheerful 'wonder if they'll be cheering at my execution'. He had succesfully avoided The Eyes of Unix 3 times, this being the fourth, it was bound to happen since Null was unfortunately too nice and refused to ever kill the cultists that attacked him, he should probably work on getting his hands unrestrained. He sat up, gnawing on the ropes like a rabid dog very much ignoring the fact that the guard outside his cell had been knocked out cold by someone.
"You look like an idiot by the way," Null now realises a grown man sitting criss-cross-applesauce on the floor biting at ropes is a fucking idiotic image, he immediately shoots up as if nothing ever happened.
"I - w(insert more babbling)hat- why?" he stammers out the question, shocked to see the scene in front of him, Sailor standing in front of an unconscious guard whom should be his coworker and keys in hand heading towards Nulls' cell lock. "I'm really confused, am I getting released?? Is my prison sentence over?"
Then, Sailor starts to explain, "Yeah um sorry about all the kidnapping and stuff, I had a little epiphany and now I'm busting you out." that did not clear nulls mind at all. staring at sailor dropping the keys twice, picking the wrong keys Null had an idea (this will lead to committing crimes).
"You can stop fumbling with the lock, its painful to see you fail to use keys," Sailor stops to put the keys away muttering a small sorry, Null starts his point again, "do you have a plan? like how am i getting busted out, theres about 2 guards at every door and 2 more that patrol the hallways by what I can hear." Sailor pauses and thinks, trying to remember anything that could potentially help them both in this situation. His mind drifts to their fight, the way Null had moved during it, almost hypnotic its a wonder he wasn't utterly distracte- anyway lets get back to the original thought here! Sailor thought harder then he remembered Null had used a weapon(s).
"Oh i know! Your weapon- your chains, i can get them from the armory," Null beamed at the mention of his beloved chains (each respectively named rebbecca and Janey), the one true weapon he could always rely on (not really always). After thinking for a little while Null noticed a little hole in the plan.
"We need a distraction," Sailor, too caught up in his own thoughts jolts into awareness.
"Huh?- Repeat that?"
"We need a distraction," Null repeated, pacing around his cell "Even if I manage to fight off the executioner there'll still be a fuck ton of guards." His pacing stops as he stops to look at Sailor in case he has some answer. Sailor has a pensive expression before his face lights up with an idea.
"Lets burn down the church."
"Fine by me."
And as sailor walks away, carefully stepping over the hopefully not dead body of the guard he hears Null say something in a tone he could not recognise but made Sailors heart skip a beat.
(AN: maybe i'll tell you what Null said, maybe not. Tee hee <3)
