Chapter Text
"I mean it. There better not be any messes when I come home." Ginny looked between her husband and son, knowing full well in the back of her mind that they weren't going to listen to her.
"We've got it, honey, don't worry! Besides," Charlie took James shoulder and pulled him close, "Its about time me and James got some father-son bonding time."
Ginny looked at him and crouched down slightly to look at James. He had brown hair, like both her and Charlie, but James's hair was on the curly, mousier side like Ginny's. He had Charlie's eyes though.
"Are you gonna behave, James?" Ginny knew how James would answer. He always answered the same way.
James nodded, "Mhm! I'll be good, mommy!"
Ginny smiled, "Good," She kissed his forehead and pulled him into a hug, "I love you."
James returned the hug, "I love you too, mommy."
Charlie smiled at the sight before him and Ginny stood up to kiss her husband, Charlie rested his forehead against hers and smiled, "I love you."
Ginny returned the smile, "I love you too," She patted him on the cheek and turned to go to the door, "Don't set anything on fire while I'm gone."
James and Charlie bid Ginny goodbye as she went out the door. Once it clicked behind her, Charlie went into the kitchen. James cocked his head at where his father had disappeared into the kitchen, curious as to what he was doing.
He followed him and he saw Charlie assembling some items on the kitchen table. They were a can of whipped cream, a jar of cherries, a bottle of chocolate syrup, a tub of vanilla ice cream, and two bowls. Charlie looked up at him and smiled, "Well don't just stand there, lets make some sundaes!"
James's face lit up and he nodded, "Okay!"
James ran over to the kitchen table and crawled into a seat, "I want whipped cream and chocolate syrup! LOTS of syrup!"
Charlie chuckles, "Just like your mom... Alright," Charlie went to open the tub of ice cream, "one scoop or two?"

Charlie and James were sitting on the couch, a popcorn bowl between them and other snack wrappers surrounding them (Ginny would be pissed but they'd clean up before she got home), and they were watching a movie. Specifically they were watching 'Top Gun'. Charlie took a swig of his beer and Charlie took a sip of his soda. They somehow burped simultaneously, then they looked at each other. After a moment, they burst out laughing.
"YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE, DAD!" James managed out through his giggles
"I DID NOT!"
"You did!"
"Did not!"
James giggles again and takes another sip of his soda, "Dad, can I have more whipped cream?"
"Sure, Jimbo," Charlie grabs the can of whipped cream and shakes it. James opens his mouth and leans his head back on the back of the couch. Charlie holds the nozzle of the can over his mouth and squeezes the nozzle and after a while James does a thumbs-up and Charlie stops. As James swallows the whipped cream, smile on his face, Charlie squeezes the nozzle into his own mouth. He also swallows his own whipped cream.
"Man, that stuff's good," James said, then turned his attention back to the movie.
"You said it, Jimbo." Charlie pops a piece of popcorn into his mouth (James went for the handful), and also turned his attention back to the movie, taking another swig of his beer.

"I'm home!" Ginny walked through the front door, shrugging off her coat and hanging it up on the hook near the door. When she didn't get a response (usually Charlie would walk into the hallway and give her a kiss, then ask her about her day as he helped her with her coat, and James would run into the hall and greet her with a hug, also asking her about her day), she cocked an eyebrow
"Charlie? James?" She called, walking through the hallway. When she went by the kitchen she saw that a mess was left on the kitchen table. Charlie and James probably. They had clearly tried to clean it up, but Charlie was never as thorough as Ginny when it came to cleaning.
Then she heard the TV. It was almost midnight, why was Charlie watching TV this late? With the volume that loud? He could wake up James.
She went into the living room and stopped at the sight before her.
Charlie and James were conked out on the couch, a few snack wrappers surrounding them (they had cleaned up most of it before Ginny got home). A whipped cream can was on the table next to the couch on a coaster, and a bowl with a few popcorn kernels was between them on the couch. Charlie was wearing a white tshirt and grey sweatpants, and James was wearing a pair of red Power Rangers pajama bottoms and a raggedy Tshirt with a t-rex on it that he refused to let Ginny throw out, leaning against Charlie, who had his arm around him. The TV was playing the credits of a movie. Ginny couldn't help but smile at the sight. She picked up the remote from the coffee table and turned the TV off. Then she went over to her two boys and gently lifted Charlie's arm off of James. She then gently lifted James off of the couch, who began to stir.
"Mm... Mom..?" James looked up through barely open eyes to his mother.
"Hi James," She said softly, smiling down at him, "Did you and daddy have fun?"
James nodded sleepy and rested his head on her shoulder.
Ginny chuckled as she went to the stairs to tuck him into bed. Once she did that and gave him a kiss on the forehead, she headed back downstairs and looked down at her sleeping husband. Even in sleep, he was so handsome..
Ginny knew she wasn't going to be able to carry him upstairs to their room. They were around the same height, but she knew her limits. So he would just have to sleep on the couch tonight. She laid him down on his side and grabbed a pillow, setting it under his head. She then grabbed a blanket, throwing it over him. She brushed some of his hair out of his face and smiled, kissing him on the forehead. She stood up and went out of the living room, to her own bedroom upstairs
