Chapter Text

“Your sister has gotta be a sadist.”

“Mary!”

“What? She knew but didn’t tell Sayaka for years. That’s torturing both of them. For years.”

“She’s not a sadist! Rari was just nervous, that’s all.”

“Pshh. Nervous about what? Sayaka was and still is head over heels for her. She could’ve taken a shit on her and that girl would’ve thanked ‘her president’ for honoring her.”

Ririka turned red all the way to the tips of her ears. “That’s going too far!”

“What? They can’t hear us.”

“They could! Sayaka has crazy good hearing.”

“She has headphones on.”

Ririka leaned out of her seat slightly to see her sister and her soulmate cuddled together, using only one blanket, watching some documentary on outer space. A smile crept onto her face when she saw Rari silently refill Sayaka’s drink. It was only white grape juice. Sayaka wouldn't accept any alcohol, and despite her sister’s best efforts to convince her fiancé, the girl continued to decline due to the reason she had not yet turned the appropriate age.

“See Riri? I’m right. We could be murdered and our screams wouldn’t be heard by those two.”

“They’re so cute together!”

“Hmph.”

“They are!”

“We’re cuter.”

“Oh!” Ririka blushed. “We’re equally cute.”

“No way, we’re much cuter.”

“Don’t let Rari hear you say that.” She paused and snuck a peek back toward where the other two were. “Or Sayaka.”

“I’ll tell them myself.”

“Don’t! Please?”

“Ugh, fine.” Mary acquiesced. Only because she couldn’t say no to those puppy dog eyes Ririka was currently doing. She sighed. Itsuki was right. She was whipped for Ririka.

“I see you have finally come to your senses Saotome,” Kirari stated having just taken-off her headphones as the credits rolled.

Amber eyes burned brighter. “What does that mean? Huh?”

“One should know their place.”

“Rari!” Ririka glared at her twin and then glanced at Sayaka for help but the girl missed the signal for aid as she was turning off the film. She turned back to face her sister. “Mary’s equal with me. We’re partners.”

“Yeah—” the blonde puffed out her chest a little, “—eat that.”

“I will not be consuming anything that you offer.”

“Who said I was offering?”

“Please stop,” the oldest girl begged the bickering two. She looked at the time on the right-hand corner of one of the TVs. “We still have five hours left on this flight.”

“I would be glad to stop Riri if this savage also agrees.”

“Savage! I’m the savage?” Mary shrieked taking another step toward the newly graduated student.

“Don’t Mary! Sayaka still has her taser.”

The girl stopped in her tracks. “You’re kidding! Someone from security should’ve taken it from her!”

“This is a private flight."

"So? It's a safety concern! It has to be!"

"And maybe Rari bribed security.”

“Of course she did.”

“I have more than enough funds to make my fiancé comfortable while we shoot through the sky in a metal box."

”Who says I don’t?”

Kirari simply raised her eyebrows in challenge.

“Fuck off,” Mary murmured blushing. “You’ll regret that one day.”

”I’ll be dead before then.”

Mary roared to life again, “That’ll be because I’m the one who buried your ass!”

Kirari laughed. “Do try your best.”

Ririka pulled Sayaka into the conversation as soon as the folded blanket was put back into its proper place. She quickly whispered into her ear, “Please make them stop fighting!”

Sayaka groaned internally then gently laid her hand on her soulmate’s forearm. “Darling, do stop riling Mary up.” "You," turning on her heel she addressed Mary next, “please don’t make me break your arm.” She paused in thought. “Or leg.” Violet eyes landed on Ririka. “And we both know that you can stop this easier than I can.”

The plane went dead quiet.

“Fine,” Mary broke the silence first. “Whatever. It wouldn’t even be worth the effort to kill Kirari.”

Ririka silently pinched Mary hard and nodded shyly to Sayaka confirming she understood.

Kirari giggled then grabbed and pulled Sayaka by her hips backward to whisper seductively into the young girls ear, "I believe it’s time for some extracurricular activities, what do you think my lily?”

"Yeah no," Mary said, disgust filling her eyes and turned around to face Ririka instead of those two. "You said we have another five hours?"

Ririka nodded.

“Then I’m gonna nap. Try to get rid of this headache someone gave me.”

“I’ll get you some Advil! That will help.”

She nodded as Ririka scrambled away to the back of the plane and started heading back to her seat.

“Oh and Mary?” Kirari’s smug tone made the blonde whip her head around. “We are definitely the cuter couple.”

Notes:

Whew. This was fun to write even though I did lose quite a bit of sleep. For some reason this popped into my head and I had to get it down. Hopefully no one’s too out of character…it’s been a while since I’ve seen the show. Or read the manga. Anyway I hope you enjoyed it!

I may have a slightly longer story that doesn’t involve soulmates but still focusing on these characters. Rather more of the classical setting of gambling. I’m not sure if I’ll ever post or finish it but leave a note if you’re interested or not.
