Chapter Text
Sam and I stood next to the Impala, holding our bags, we waited for Dean to come back since he had gone inside to check us into the motel. We had planned to check in, clean up any wounds, and then head over to my house to check for anything that could help us find who killed my parents, and who tried to attack me.
“How'd you guys get into doing this kind of stuff?” I asked Sam, he scoffed.
“Born into it. A demon killed our Mom when I was six months old, it left Dad in a dark spiral and well, he just pushed it onto Dean and me,” he paused, “About three years ago, I had gone off for college but after only a year, Dean sucked me back into the life.” Sam looked down at the concrete, his face had a sad soft look on it, his eyebrows scrunched together.
“Oh. I'm sorry about that,” the silence lingered, “Where’d you go to college? Or at least where you wanted to go.”
“I was at Stanford, but Dean needed my help a few days before my interview for Harvard Law, and when I got back home…” he paused again, “my girlfriend was killed by a demon. And well, Dean and I have been doing a lot since then.” I looked at him, and he looked back at me longingly.
“Stop giving each other the goo-goo eyes and let's go inside,” Dean said, walking up to us. I looked over at him, he was jingling the hotel room keys in his hand. Sam and I picked up the bags, following Dean to where we would be staying.
Dean unlocked the room with the keycard, two king-sized beds sat pressed up against the wall. The wallpaper was a deep maroon, with a bunch of accented oak. I set my bags next to the door, the brothers placing their bags on separate beds.
“Do you have anywhere to stay, Victoria?” Dean asked.
“Yeah, uh, I've been staying at my friend Sarah’s house. I had too many bad dreams after the… murder and just couldn't stay at home.” I walked further into the room, sitting on a chair beside the table. Sam pulled a first-aid kit out of his bag, and walked over to me, setting the kit on the table. I positioned myself so he could inspect the wound on the back of my head.
“Let me know if it hurts at any point, okay?” Sam confirmed, and I nodded. He grabbed a flashlight that was on the table next to us, clicking it on and inspecting my skull.
“I'm gonna clean the blood off, right now it doesn't seem too bad but we’ll keep an eye on it.” He rustled around in his bag some more. Whatever he grabbed and applied, it stung the wound like a bitch. I winced lightly, squeezing my thigh to try and distract myself from the pain. When he finished cleaning up my wound, he dabbed at the area with a towel.
“Sorry, but it should be all good now,” I turned to face him, “You mentioned something about marks on your chest, do you want me to check those out?”
“Might as well,” I sighed, lifting my hoodie. Sam looked at the marks with a perplexed look on his face. I was suddenly aware that they both were able to see my boobs, even if I did have a bra on, so I pulled it back down.
“Hand marks?” Dean questioned, I looked at him, he too wore a confused look on his face.
“Yeah, I assume it was from when the demon pushed me, but I don't see how she could push me so hard that it left hand marks.” I reasoned. Sam squinted, he seemed deep in thought.
“Should probably ice it, looked pretty bruised to me,” Sam said, I nodded in response.
Suddenly, I had an ear-splitting headache. I clutched at the sides of my head, folding over myself and onto the dingy motel room carpet.
————————————————————————
I held a gun out in front of me, gripping the handle with both hands. My eyes scanned the dining room, looking for any sign of- a loud thump from upstairs interrupted my search. Suddenly, another noise echoed down the steps, sending an electrocution of fear throughout my body.
“VICTORIA!” Sam shouted, my heart raced as I ran upstairs. As I took the final step, I turned down the hallway on the left, my bedroom door ajar. I crept over to the door, pausing when I saw the scene inside of the room.
A demon held a blade to Sam’s throat while flashing a devilish grin at me.
“Victoria, please.” Sam pleaded, tears welling in his eyes. The demon suddenly slit his throat, his body dropping to the ground.
————————————————————————
I opened my eyes, staring at the floor of the motel. My heart raced, my breath rising and falling rapidly, and my chest ached. I looked up, panicked, to Sam and Dean.
“Victoria? Is everything okay?” Sam's voice was laced with concern. I looked into his eyes, the image of him dying kept playing over and over in my head.
“We can't. We can NOT go back to my house. Please, please for the love of god,” Before I knew it, I was nestled in Sam’s chest, sobbing heavily.
I sat in his arms for a while, but when I finally finished crying, I looked up at Sam and Dean.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” Sam hesitantly asked.
“I don't even know what the hell just happened. One moment I was here talking to you guys, and the next I saw you dying Sam.” Sam looked back at Dean, nodding.
“What year were you born?” Dean asked. I squinted at him, why the hell was he asking about that now?
“1983. Why?” I looked back and forth between the brothers, confused beyond belief.
“Have you ever had anything like that happen before?” Sam questions.
“Well, like I mentioned I started to have more nightmares after my parents were killed, but that's all they were. Bad, really realistic nightmares. I-I’ve never seen anything while awake.”
“Have you noticed if you can do anything else? Something that seemed like a coincidence but still freaked you out?” Dean asked, something came to mind but I pushed it down.
“Why are you guys interrogating me? Do you know what's going on?” I demanded. Sam took a deep breath, looking up at me with puppy eyes.
“This is going to sound crazy, but you have psychic powers. I-I have them too, I'll get bad headaches, then I’ll have horrible visions.” I looked at him, shocked. Psychic powers?
“What does that mean?” I asked.
“That means that you're a part of our problem now, and you're going to stick with us and help.” Dean sternly said. I stared at him. Part of their problem?
“All I know is that we can't stay here, those demons are going to be coming after us one way or another.” Sam nodded, helping me stand up. My chest ached, it felt like it was on fire now. I groaned, leaning against Sam for support.
“Your chest hurts?” He asked, I nodded.
“Like a motherfucker,” I sighed, “let's just get the hell out of here.” Sam started to put the first-aid stuff back into his bag, and Dean picked up his bag. I walked over to the door and grabbed my bag that sat beside it.
I sat down in the back of the Impala, sighing and looking at the tan dingy roof of the car, rock music hummed in the background.
“I don't know about you guys, but I'm starving. Know any places nearby with some good pie or burgers?” Dean asked, shooting a glance back at me.
“Yeah, there's this good place a couple of miles out of town, just off a backroad.” Dean nodded, starting the engine and driving out of the motel lot.
“What's the deal with this psychic thing? Like how did you guys find out about it?” I questioned, Sam heaved a sigh.
“Well, like I told you earlier, my girlfriend died. The same demon that killed her, killed our Mom. It started happening over a year ago now, and it started as weird visions but sometimes…” Sam trailed off, “Anyways, we connected it back to the yellow-eyed demon, who is trying to build an army of us… ‘special children’.” I stared forward to the road, thinking about this new information.
“Do you know what he’s planning on doing with us?” I questioned.
“To bring on the apocalypse.” I looked over at Sam, he seemed upset, almost as if he just wanted to gag this son of a bitch demon. We didn’t talk about it for a while, I mainly just gave Dean directions, however, he cleared his throat after some time.
“So, Victoria, can you do anything else?” I shuffled in the car seat, glancing at the back of Sam and Dean’s heads.
“If I focus hard enough on something, it kind of just moves. I first noticed it about 6 months ago back at college,” I took a breath, “I was doing some school work on my bed, but I needed the overhead light on. As any college student, I was lazy, and I just thought while looking at the light switch, ‘I wish I didn’t have to get up to turn on the light’, and it just, flipped on,” I paused again, “My roommate was also in the room, she thought somebody had broken in and turned it on, I somehow convinced her it was the wind.” I chuckled at the memory, but I also remembered about Sarah. I had just left her behind for some tall crazy men and we were going to a diner for some pie.
“Have you done anything like that since then?” Sam asked.
“Yeah, a couple of other instances afterward, but that whole weird lightswitch thing was the first time I’d notice something like that happen.” Once again, silence fell over the car. A song started to play on the radio, making Dean perk up and turn the knob to play louder.
After some more directions and driving, we pulled into the small dirt-ridden lot of Sunnyside Diner, Dean’s rock music blasting on the stereo. The car came to a stop, parking next to a truck.
“Hey, don't forget the extra onions this time, huh?” Dean bothered his younger brother, holding up a wad of cash.
“Dude,” Sam snatched the cash out of Dean’s hand, “I'm the one who’s gonna have to ride in the car with your extra onions.”
“He's got a point,” I mentioned. Sam looked back at me, silently thanking me for backing him up. I slid out of my seat, opened the car door, and stepped out, Dean grinning stupidly at Sam as he got out of the car.
“Hey, make sure to get the pie!” Sam rolled his eyes, slamming the car door shut, I followed suit, walking next to Sam.
“Bring me some pie!” Dean whined like a child from the car. Sam and I walked up to the diner, he scoffed at the interaction with his brother, smirking slightly.
“He's so whiny about his pie,” I said, chuckling.
“Tell me about it,” Sam sighed as he opened the door, holding it open for me, the door shutting behind us. We walked in, and a server stood at the counter and picked up a tray. We stood at the counter, waiting to be asked for our orders, when suddenly, everything went black.
