Chapter Text
Will pov
Getting everything inside was the straightforward part. The difficult part was Jonathan pulling me aside with an odd look. “So you and Gareth seem very….. affectionate.” He chose his words carefully. I looked down the hall, double-checking that Gare and Eddie were still in the kitchen.
“ Well, he is my boyfriend. Has been for over half a year.” I rolled my eyes. 8 almost 9 months, actually, but who’s counting?
“I know, but this is your first relationship. I just want to make sure you are making safe ch-”
“I’m not having sex.” I turned away from him. “Not that it’s any of your business.” I began to put the clothes into drawers.
“Yeah, I Know.”
“How?!” I turned back to him.
“I asked Gareth.” He tried to look nonchalant leaning on the door frame. What the fuck? Why? “ I kinda… You are with him overnight a couple of times a week. And earlier you on the bed. You looked……uncomfortable”
“Well, you were there? you two burst in, before I was……absolutely content .” Jonathan made a face like he just sniffed spoiled milk. I stood up, walking toward the door. “I won't apologize for”
“No, no, I only….. "he interrupted "If it doesn’t work out …will you be…..ok” Jonathan asked.
“ I’ll surive. I always do.” I shrugged and pushed past him. Gareth was watching Eddie demonstrate where different things were. Dishes, cans, silverware, pasta, etc.
I located myself under Gareth’s arm, wrapping my arms around him. He kissed the top of my head, confused by my rare PDA. Jonathan stood awkwardly by the fridge. After a while, Jonathan departed, and I pulled Gareth into his room.
“ Jonathan asked you if we were having sex.” I sat on the bed, crossing my legs.
“Yeah,” He answered, though it wasn’t a question. He slowly sat next to me.
“One. He indicated that I wouldn’t be alright if we broke up and that it would be unintelligent to go too far with you.” I picked at my jeans but looked at him.
“Ok.” He traced my face down to my neck.
“OK?” I pushed him away, but just far enough to make a point. “ Do you think this is a waste-”
“ This. You and Me,” he pointed, “is the best thing I’ve ever been a part of. Will, if we split up, I’d be heartbroken.” I looked down.
“You don’t have to say that just because I’m-” He cut me off by dipping his head, making me focus him.
“None of that. I wouldn’t lie. I love you.” He was firm, an uncompromising force. His conviction mended something he never damaged. And well, I was just me—uncertain but unwilling to question that certainty. I didn't know how to acknowledge all that meant, so I offered the simplest fact.
“I love you too.” It came out fainter than I would have liked; regardless, it was real. With us, what was real was always just that.
"You and Me?" he said like a question.
"You and me" I agreed.
