Chapter Text

Yeonjun and Soobin stared at each other, the silence stretching unbearably long. The apartment was silent for a good thirty seconds.

Soobin’s heart pounded. His mind scrambled to make sense of what he was seeing. Yeonjun, the man he had been dating, sitting on his couch like he belonged there. Except he didn’t.

“I… I can explain,” Yeonjun said, slowly sitting up.

Soobin instinctively took a step back, his fingers tightening around the strap of his bag. He reached inside, pulling out the pepper spray he kept for emergencies, and aimed it at Yeonjun.

Yeonjun groaned, rubbing his face. “You can put that down. I’m not here to hurt you.”

“Oh, really?” Soobin scoffed. “You broke into my apartment. How the hell do you even know where I live? Also, why did you disappear on me for a week?” His grip on the spray didn’t loosen. He kept himself near the unlocked door, ready to bolt if things got worse.

Yeonjun exhaled through his nose. “You’re not gonna believe me.”

“Oh, yeah? Try me.”

“But first, you have to sit down. It’s… a lot.”

“No, thank you. I’ll be maintaining my distance from you, thank you very much.” Soobin’s wary, wide-eyed stare made Yeonjun’s stomach twist.

He hated this. Soobin looking at him like he was a threat.

There was no way out of this.

Yeonjun sighed. He scratched the back of his head, looking increasingly guilty. “I am… Juni.”

Soobin blinked.

“Huh?”

“I am Juni.” Yeonjun repeated, slower and quieter this time. “Your cat.”

Soobin stared at him like he had just spoken in an alien language.

“No, you’re not.”

“I am.”

“You’re not.”

“I am.”

“You're not serious.”

“Except, I am.”

“There is no way.”

“You want me to prove it?” Yeonjun asked, tired.

Soobin hesitated, then gave a slow, wary nod.

Yeonjun took a deep breath, closed his eyes. POOF! In the blink of an eye, the man sitting on Soobin’s couch was gone.

In his place sat a familiar tiny, fluffy grey kitten. Juni. His Juni.

Soobin dropped his pepper spray with a clatter.

“HOLY SHIT!” His hands flew to his mouth.

Juni—no, Yeonjun, he wasn't sure anymore—winced. Soobin’s brain short-circuited. Has Juni always had facial expressions like that? Because right now, the tiny cat was looking at him with way too much human guilt. And those eyes… Yeonjun’s eyes.

No. No, this wasn’t happening. This was impossible.

But the proof was sitting right there on his couch, small and fluffy and looking so guilty.

Then, right before his eyes, POOF!, the grey kitten transformed back into Yeonjun.

Soobin collapsed onto the far end of the couch, too stunned to move. His mind raced, trying to process what he had just witnessed.

Yeonjun—Juni—whatever he was, sat with his hands in his lap, looking like a child waiting to be scolded. He shifted uncomfortably under Soobin’s wide-eyed stare.

"I told you you needed to sit down," Yeonjun mumbled, barely above a whisper.

Soobin’s mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. “Wh-wh… wh… what is going on? You… You are the same? You’re… J-Juni?”

Yeonjun nodded, guilt written all over his face.

Soobin blinked at him, still frozen. "You—" His voice cracked. "You're my cat."

Yeonjun winced. "I mean… yeah. But also, no? It’s complicated."

“You can transform into a cat?” Soobin said, voice still trembling. “Wait, no, you’re a cat that can transform into a human? This is—this is insane—”

Yeonjun clenched his eyes shut and blurted out in one breath, “Please don’t be mad at me I was planning to escape but you were so nice and loving to me that I kept wanting your affection and warmth cat form or not so I wanted to know you as a human too and I loved our dates so much and one thing led to another and here we are.”

Soobin blinked.

For someone who had just received life-changing news, his brain short-circuited at a completely different thought.

Yeonjun, despite everything, still looked like Juni when he was getting scolded for eating too many treats.

/ᐠ_ ꞈ _ᐟ\

Soobin had to get out of there.

Now, he sat on a bench on a nearby park, the one he always visited when he needed silence during study breaks, when he wanted peace, or when his thoughts were too loud. Right now, his mind was anything but peaceful.

He felt bad for Yeonjun—Juni—both. He’d run out so fast, leaving Yeonjun alone without even looking back. He couldn’t look back. He knew if he did, he’d see the hurt on Yeonjun’s face, and that would have broken him.

But how was he supposed to process this?

Yeonjun, the guy he was dating, and Juni, the cat he’d picked up off the streets one day, were the same person.

Any normal person would freak out, right? Finding out their boyfriend and their cat were the same being?

Soobin was so deep in thought that he didn’t notice someone sitting near him on the same bench.

“You’ve found out about it?”

Soobin jumped, hand flying to his chest. “Oh, it’s you, Kai! Don’t scare me like that!”

Kai chuckled. “Sorry, you looked lost in thought.”

Soobin frowned, now even more confused. “Wait… you knew about it?”

Kai tilted his head back, gazing at the moon. “I do. I tried my best to act normal when Yeonjun hyung was struggling to escape your hold.”

Yeonjun hyung? They’re close?

“Look, Soobin," Kai continued. "Yeonjun hyung is… He's a good guy. I get that this is a shock. It was for me too, at first. But this is just one of the secrets the world holds. The fact that he wants you, both in human and cat form, says a lot.”

Soobin latched onto that last part. Kai had the same reaction?

What exactly did he mean by that?

A million questions swirled in Soobin’s mind. He took a deep breath. “May I ask a question?”

Kai nodded.

“Why did you let me adopt Juni… Yeonjun in the first place?”

Kai smiled a little before speaking. “Soobin, I'm about to tell you a story.”

A story? Soobin does not have time for stories, he needs answers! But he held back, knowing Kai had a point to make.

“Before I became a vet, I was just a veterinary assistant, shadowing a senior vet. One day, a student came rushing in, carrying an injured kitten in their arms. I could tell right away that this person was a good guy, just by the way they held the kitty—so careful, so desperate to help. They handed the kitten over to me, and I thanked them, because if they hadn’t brought it in, it would have suffered even more.”

Soobin listened, something about this story feeling strangely familiar. He recalled his similar experience with Juni.

“I treated the kitty, healed its wounds, fed it, and helped it recover until it could walk again. I grew attached, so I decided to take it home with me. That’s when I found out it could transform into a human.”

Soobin’s breath hitched. Kai went through the same thing I did… He had even more questions now, but he swallowed them down and let Kai continue.

“At first, I was shocked. Afraid, even. What if I had accidentally hurt him while treating him? What if he wasn’t safe? But instead of anger, he thanked me for saving him. That’s when he explained it. How some cats like him need human companionship. Cats may be independent creatures, but in the society we live in now, they’ve become domesticated, cared for, and… in some cases, they want that. A human companion. I didn’t know how to feel at first, but since I technically adopted him, he had no choice but to stay with me.”

“Days passed, and we became friends. He was cute, cat form or not. I was his caretaker, but also his human friend. And then… well, long story short, I fell in love with him. In his human form. And it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Taehyun, my boyfriend.”

Kai turned to Soobin expectantly, as if he should recognize the name. Taehyun. It sounded familiar, but Soobin couldn’t quite place it.

“So I’ll always be grateful to that student,” Kai continued, smiling at the memory. “The one who brought Taehyun to me when he was at his weakest, when he could barely fight. That student unknowingly gave me the best thing that ever happened to my life.”

Kai looked at Soobin now, eyes gleaming with something almost amused. “You brought Taehyun into my life.”

Soobin froze.

“…Me?” He pointed to himself, utterly baffled.

Kai chuckled. “Soobin… do you really not remember?”

Confused, Soobin frowned… until suddenly, a memory surfaced.

Yes… that's right. He was a senior back then. Rain. Heavy, pouring rain. A small, shivering kitten curled up on the sidewalk, barely moving. He’d felt so bad, he couldn’t just walk past it. He’d taken off his handkerchief, carefully wrapped the frail kitten in it, and hurried to the nearest pet clinic he could find. He hadn’t even stayed long. Just made sure the kitten was safe before running home.

The details had blurred over time, but he vaguely remembered a black-haired student in a coat—probably Kai. He had buried that memory so deep, he hadn’t thought about it in years.

“So that's why I knew you were a good person. Yeonjun hyung… he's too stubborn and claims he doesn't need a human companion. But I can see it in his eyes whenever me and Taehyun cuddle, he yearns for a companion. His dating life as a human is pretty hopeless too, until you came along. He trusts you, as a cat and a human, and that means a lot.”

Kai kept talking, rambling on about how pregnant cats had a similar instinct for choosing humans they trusted, but Soobin was barely listening anymore.

Soobin sat there, too stunned to process anything. His mind, once tangled with endless questions, was now utterly blank. And yet, for the first time since this all began, he was certain of what he felt.

“…I don’t really mind it, actually.”

Kai, who had been mid-ramble about feline instincts, abruptly stopped and turned to him.

Soobin took a shaky breath. “I like Juni. When he sleeps on my bed or cuddles up to me when I come home exhausted from work. I’d do anything for my cat.” His voice wavered, but not with doubt, just the weight of realization.

“And I… I love Yeonjun. I’ve never been this in love before. The kind where I constantly yearn for his presence. The way he treats me with such care, the way he loves me… My life has revolved around them both.”

A small, breathless laugh escaped him. His chest felt lighter, his heart swelling with warmth. Looking back, his happiest days had always been with his cat and his boyfriend. And now that he knew they were the same, it only made sense that his love for them felt so infinite.

“It felt weird at first,” Soobin admitted. “But if he trusts me this much… that must mean he loves me in both forms, right?”

Kai’s knowing smile widened as he nodded. “Of course he does.”

Soobin exhaled, steadying himself. Then Kai nudged him with an expectant grin. “Well? What are you waiting for? Go tell him that!”

Soobin didn’t need to be told twice. With a bright, giddy smile, he bolted from the bench and sprinted back to his apartment. He’d have to thank Kai later. For now, all that mattered was Yeonjun.

I can finally tell him what I feel. That I accept him, both as Yeonjun and Juni.

That I’ll be his human companion.

The thought sent warmth surging through him as he reached his door, breathless but buzzing with anticipation.

But the moment he stepped inside, the apartment felt… empty.

No kitty curled up on the couch. No Yeonjun waiting for him.

The silence hit him like a brick. His heart pounded as he hurried through the rooms. “Juni?” No answer. “Yeonjun?” Nothing.

Panic rising, he pulled out his phone and dialed Yeonjun’s number. It went straight to voicemail.

Again.

And again.

And again.

By the tenth call, Soobin gave up.

His apartment, once full of life, now felt hollow. But this time, Soobin knew what to do.

He would wait.

Just like before, when he’d waited for Juni to come out of hiding after bringing him home. Just like before, when he’d waited for Yeonjun to text him first.

He would wait—however long it took.

Because now, he knew.

Juni always came back home.

And Yeonjun would, too.

ദ്ദി(• ˕ •マ.ᐟ

Cats are so complicated, Taehyun thinks. The irony isn’t lost on him—he is a cat, after all. One moment, they’re affectionate and purring in your lap. The next, they’re causing chaos and stress.

He wonders if cat shifters are the same.

Taehyun glances at Yeonjun, who is currently giving orders, his voice sharp and commanding as he directs his subordinates to track their enemies and secure their supply routes. A perfect image of a ruthless boss.

And yet this is the same Yeonjun who, just nights ago, was curled up on his couch, crying into his shoulder, surrounded by an ungodly amount of Cheetos and mint chocolate ice cream. The same Yeonjun who had spent hours crying, endless Why, Taehyun? Why? Why can't I find love? before passing out mid-rant with a Netflix show still playing in the background.

Taehyun sighs. At least Kai reassured him that Soobin was safe and that he had accepted Yeonjun’s secret. It’s only Yeonjun who doesn’t know.

He orders one of the men to shift into their cat form and follow Soobin discreetly, ensuring his safety during his daily routine. Rumors have already spread that Soobin holds importance to their organization, making him a potential target. So far, he’s sticking to his usual routine.

The reports are… interesting. The men note that whenever they observe Soobin from a distance, he keeps checking his phone, over and over. The same report comes in from other guards on different days.

Taehyun sighs again. Yeonjun is distancing himself from Soobin for now. It’s stupid. They’re both so stupid.

But Yeonjun is the most stupid of them all, judging by the nonsense coming out of his mouth right now.

"Unfortunately, chargers don’t taste good," Yeonjun announces casually, reclining in his seat now that his duties are done for the day. His men, gathered around him like kids at a bedtime story, listen with rapt attention. "Believe me, I've tried several. Car charger, phone charger—hell, even a TV cable once."

One of the men gasps in astonishment. "Really, boss? You’ve tasted them?"

"Yup." Yeonjun shrugs. "Wouldn’t recommend it."

"That’s so cool!" another exclaims.

Taehyun, watching the scene unfold, rubs his temples. "Thank you, hyung, for your valuable insight. For letting us know that electronic devices full of wires does not have a taste at all."

"I'm just saying!" Yeonjun raises his hands in mock defense. "Might save your life one day. You'll thank me soon."

Taehyun is just about to fire back when the doors suddenly burst open. A man, one of the shifters assigned to guard Soobin today, rushes in with a panicked expression.

Both Taehyun and Yeonjun recognize him instantly.

Yeonjun immediately sits up, his posture shifting from relaxed to razor-sharp in an instant. The room tenses.

"What is it?" Yeonjun’s voice is no longer playful. It’s cold. Dangerous.

The man swallows. "Soobin… he got taken."

Yeonjun shoots to his feet.

The air in the room shifts drastically. His aura is no longer just sharp—it’s lethal. Anger and urgency ripple through him like a storm about to break. He reaches for his gun, cocks it, and looks up.

With one furious glare, his men spring into action, moving swiftly as if reading their boss’s mind. No words are needed. They know exactly what he wants with just a glance.

Yeonjun stands tall, radiating authority. His usual playful air is gone, replaced by something sharp, commanding, and utterly terrifying.

This is the Yeonjun hyung he knows, and you do not want to upset this Yeonjun.

₍⑅ᐢ..ᐢ₎

Soobin doesn’t know where he is. One moment, he was walking home, and the next, strong hands had grabbed him, dragging him into a white van.

Panic clawed at his throat as he struggled, but it was useless. These men were bigger, stronger, and armed. The van sped off before he could even think about escaping.

Now, he sat tied to a chair in a dimly lit warehouse, ropes biting into his wrists. Across from him stood a man with a snake tattoo curling up his neck. A leader, maybe, of whatever gang had taken him. He had no idea who they were, but judging from the smug grins and the way they casually flashed their weapons, they were bad news.

"You're quite the special one, aren't you?" the snake-tattooed man sneered, circling Soobin like a predator. "Yeonjun’s little lover."

Yeonjun.

Soobin’s heart pounded. Did they take him because of Yeonjun? What did they want from him?

“You look so clueless, so confused. Did you not know how fragile your life is the minute you started dating Yeonjun?”

He forced himself to speak. “I… I haven't talked to Yeonjun yet.”

It's true. It's been days of waiting for his phone call. Soobin felt stupid for saying it out loud. This intimidating man didn't have to know that.

The snake-tattooed man grinned, as if Soobin’s response amused him. "Oh? So he’s ignoring you, then? How sad." He sighed, shaking his head mockingly. "I wonder if he’ll even bother coming for you."

Soobin stiffened. His hands clenched into fists against the ropes binding him.

Of course, Yeonjun would come for him. Right?

His kidnapper leaned in further, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Well, I guess we'll have to see if he still cares about you, hmm?"

A heavy silence filled the room. The men standing around chuckled darkly, clearly enjoying the show.

Soobin bit the inside of his cheek, refusing to let them see how rattled he was. He wouldn’t let them get to him. He wouldn’t—

BANG!

Chaos erupted as men started shouting, scrambling for their weapons. But it was already too late.

Yeonjun had arrived.

The doors burst open, and there he was. Yeonjun, striding in like he owned the place. His men followed behind, but he was the one leading the charge, moving with the deadly grace of a predator.

He didn’t waste words. The fight started instantly.

Gunshots rang through the air, but Yeonjun was faster. He weaved through bullets, dodging with impossible agility. When he got close, he didn’t even need a weapon. His fists were enough. A single strike sent one man crashing into crates, another into the concrete floor.

And then, in the middle of the fight, Soobin saw it.

A blur of movement. Yeonjun shifting in and out of his cat form like it was second nature. One second, he was a man, disarming an enemy with a swift kick, and the next, he was a sleek gray cat, dodging an incoming attack with inhuman reflexes.

Then back again, grabbing a gun mid-shift and using it without hesitation.

Soobin’s brain short-circuited.

Yeonjun was fighting like a terrifying mix of mafia boss and supernatural force, claws flashing, gunfire ringing, men dropping one by one. His enemies never stood a chance.

A mix of mafia ruthlessness and feline instincts.

It was absolutely terrifying.

And somehow, ridiculously cool.

Soobin barely noticed when the last of the Snake Mafia men collapsed, groaning in pain. The fight was over.

The snake-tattooed boss tried to crawl away, but Yeonjun stepped on his back, pinning him down effortlessly. He crouched, voice cold.

"Touch him again, and I'll make sure you regret it."

A shiver ran down Soobin’s spine.

Then, just as quickly as his ruthless side had appeared, Yeonjun turned to Soobin. The coldness in his eyes softened. Without a word, he moved forward, kneeling to untie the ropes around Soobin’s wrists.

Soobin swallowed. His heart was still racing, adrenaline pumping, but all he could focus on was how it's been so long since he last saw Yeonjun. He missed him.

He took Soobin’s wrist and led him out of the warehouse, past the fallen enemies, past his own men. He didn’t look back.

And for some reason, Soobin followed without question.

They sat side by side by the sea, the golden hues of the setting sun casting a warm glow over everything. The place was alive—kids laughing, carnival machines ringing, waves crashing against the shore—but Soobin felt at peace. Beside him, Yeonjun sat stiffly, deliberately avoiding his gaze.

Soobin giggled at the contrast. Just a while ago, Yeonjun had been a ruthless leader, commanding his men with sharp orders. And now? He was back to being the shy, doting boyfriend Soobin had fallen for. He had missed him so much.

They had been sitting in silence for a while. It had been days since their last encounter, since that big reveal. Someone had to speak first.

“I guess you’ve found out about my second secret.” Yeonjun finally said.

Soobin turned to look at him.

“I also lead a gang. A cat shifter gang, to be precise. We can all shift—even Taehyun. It varies from person to person, but… yeah, that’s basically what we are. We’re a gang. A mafia, technically.”

Soobin’s silence was starting to make Yeonjun nervous.

“I’m sorry for disappearing,” he continued, his voice softer now. “I’ve been dealing with that group specifically. I didn’t want you getting involved, and I’m really sorry that you got taken against your will. You’re not hurt, are you?”

Soobin shook his head but still said nothing.

Yeonjun bit his lip. “And… I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. It should’ve been my responsibility to explain. You were taking care of a cat who was also a human—shit, that’s weird, right? But I was just enjoying our time together so much that time flew by. That night, I was exhausted and forgot to shift back before you saw me.”

Soobin kept his gaze on the waves, letting the orange glow of the sunset wash over him. Yeonjun thought he looked beautiful like this.

“I’ll understand if you want to break up,” Yeonjun murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. He looked like he was bracing himself for the worst.

“Is that all?” Soobin finally spoke.

Yeonjun nodded.

This was it. The end. He was about to lose the best thing that had ever happened to him—both as a human and as a cat. It had been nice while it lasted. He would probably cry about this for weeks on Taehyun’s shoulder.

“When are you coming home?”

Yeonjun’s head snapped up. “Huh?”

“I said,” Soobin finally faced him, his expression soft, “when are you coming home?”

Yeonjun stared at him, completely baffled.

“Soobin, I… you don’t understand. I’m a gang leader. I can shift into a cat.”

“Yes, I know.”

“I’ve been living as both your cat and your boyfriend this whole time.”

“No, yeah, I got that the first time.”

Yeonjun let out a frustrated breath. “By being with me, you’re risking your life.”

Soobin simply smiled. “If that’s what it takes to summon you, then I don’t mind.”

Yeonjun exhaled in disbelief before chuckling. It was ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.

Soobin laughed along with him, and just like that, the weight in the air lifted. The two of them sat there, laughing by the sea, the sun setting behind them.

Yeonjun closes the distance between them, cupping Soobin’s cheek before pressing their lips together. He had almost forgotten how soft Soobin’s lips were, how they sent shivers down his spine. He missed this—missed him. He didn’t even know why he ever thought he could give it up.

Soobin doesn’t hesitate to kiss him back, his fingers tangling in Yeonjun’s hair as if grounding himself in this moment, making sure Yeonjun was real and here.

They only pull away when the need for air becomes too much. Foreheads resting against each other, they breathe in the same space, eyes locked, lost in each other.

Soobin reaches for Yeonjun’s hand, intertwining their fingers. A small, teasing smile plays on his lips.

“I just can’t believe I had to get kidnapped just to see you again.”

Yeonjun chuckles at the joke, shaking his head.

“Soobin, there’s one more thing I have to tell you. So you know how cats are independent animals, but they—”

Soobin presses a finger to Yeonjun’s lips, silencing him. “I know. Kai told me everything.”

Kai? That traitor.

Before Yeonjun can process it, Soobin tightens his hold on his hand, eyes serious yet filled with warmth.

“Yeonjun,” he says softly, “if you’ll have me, I’d like to be your human companion. I’ll take care of you. I’ll love you. Both as a cat and as a human—if you’ll let me.”

Yeonjun feels his eyes sting. His human is perfect. His human is everything.

He nods. Fast, desperate, unable to contain the overwhelming joy swelling inside him.

Soobin grins, and Yeonjun mirrors it, their hands still tightly clasped.

Yeonjun rests his head on his taller boyfriend's shoulder, watching the sunset together.

Boyfriend.

He can say that now without guilt and without hiding a huge secret from the most important person in his life.

With the golden hues of the setting sun casting a warm glow over them, they sit there in silence, holding onto each other—warm, content, and finally home.

“Also, why do you keep on calling me ‘princess’ when you can literally see my kitty balls? Now, I have developed a kink.”

/ᐠ。‸。ᐟ\

Soobin was woken up by noises at his window. Instead of being alert to danger, he lazily checked his phone. 5 AM. With a sigh, he closed his eyes again, ready to drift back into sleep.

Minutes later, he felt warmth settle beside him—soft, fluffy warmth. Juni was back.

Voice still thick with sleep, Soobin murmured, “Yeonjun.”

Juni let out a questioning ‘meow?’, curling up comfortably on Soobin's bed.

“Yeonjun.” This time, his tone held more certainty. Juni hesitated before finally shifting into his human form.

Without a word, Soobin scooted closer, pressing against Yeonjun’s warmth. Yeonjun, in return, wrapped his arms around him, sighing contentedly. He assumed Soobin had already fallen back asleep when a sleepy voice suddenly broke the silence.

“Can you please tell Taehyun to tone down while guarding me?”

Yeonjun chuckled.

The sight of Soobin walking across campus, four cats tailing him like bodyguards was the famous news lately. Three chonky, well-fed felines and one smaller gray kitten with three white-pawed gloves in front. The way the kitten led the group bigger than it made it even funnier.

The three cats might be fat and chunky, but in their human forms, they were towering, muscle-bound bodyguards. Everywhere Soobin went, he drew stares and sneaky phone recordings, students whispering and pointing at his feline bodyguards.

And then there was the daily ritual before entering the classroom. Soobin handing out cat food to the three larger cats and offering the smaller one a chocolate cornet. It had started to raise suspicions among the campus cat enthusiasts. Everyone knew chocolate was bad for cats, yet this one would bite the cornet and vanish, leaving no trace of where it went.

Yeonjun only grinned, tightening his hold around Soobin. He loved his warmth too much.

₍˄·͈༝·͈˄*₎◞ ̑̑

Soobin loves his life. Nothing has really changed. His boyfriend still walks him home, and his cat still cuddles him before he sleeps.

Juni is still a menace, but now there are wanted posters of him all over Soobin’s apartment. Apparently, a certain cat has been caught on CCTV stealing from the convenience store near his place. Yes, stealing. You wouldn’t believe it until you saw the footage of a kitty trotting out of the store with a bag of Cheetos clutched in its teeth.

Soobin has lost count of how many times he’s apologized to the owner, offering to pay for Juni’s crimes.

Still, while Soobin fulfills his owner duties, Yeonjun makes sure to fulfill his boyfriend duties in return. As if having four cats trailing him on campus wasn’t enough, Yeonjun now insists on picking him up from school. Dressed in full black leather, riding a bicycle, and bringing a different bouquet of flowers every time.

Soobin rolls his eyes. Yeonjun is obviously showing off that Soobin is taken. Because what if that bastard Chaemin comes back for you? Yeonjun had said. But deep down, Soobin doesn’t mind. He wants to show off his annoyingly handsome, ridiculously cool boyfriend too

Yes, Soobin loves his life. A cat and a boyfriend. But even better… a cat shifter boyfriend!

Once, Soobin tried scratching Yeonjun’s chin. Yeonjun had only sighed, saying it didn’t feel the same as when he was in his cat form. But then came the discovery of butt scratches which led to three whole hours of Soobin stuck in one position while Juni had the time of his life.

Not all days are chaotic, though. Some are warm and calm, like their double date at the park. Soobin and Kai sat on a bench, chatting about anything and everything—mostly anime—while their cats wrestled and darted across the grass. Eventually, the two owners had to grab them by the scruff just to take them home.

So yeah, Soobin’s life is pretty great.

Like right now, on a lazy Sunday afternoon, with Juni curled up on his lap while they watch XO, Kitty. Soobin scrolls through TikTok, occasionally showing Juni random videos. One clip of a cat and dog bonding earns an immediate eye roll from Juni. Soobin had recently learned about his beef with dogs.

Which makes Soobin curious about something.

“Hey,” he asks as Juni shifts into his human form, stretching beside him. “If I could transform into an animal, what would I be?”

Yeonjun doesn’t hesitate. “A bunny or a Samoyed dog.”

Soobin chuckles. “That was fast. Have you thought about this a lot?”

“Well, you do look like a bunny with your tiny lips and teeth peeking out. Which is most of the time.” Yeonjun hums in thought, completely ignoring Soobin’s indignant Hey! “And honestly, I see you as a Samoyed every time you tilt your head.”

Ironically, Soobin is tilting his head as he listens to Yeonjun’s reasoning. He looks too cute like this. Yeonjun is never letting him go.

They go back to cuddling. This is Soobin’s life now, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Soobin shows Yeonjun another TikTok of a real cat dancing perfectly on beat, chuckling and smiling as he watches. Yeonjun, jealous that some random internet cat got that reaction from his boyfriend, scoffs. “Pfft, AI videos these days. I could do better than that.”

Notes:

finding out 1% of the story shows off kidnapping or mafia boss vibes made me realize i only wanted an excuse to write yeonjun as a chaotic little kitty and do i regret it? no, absolutely not

i hope you guys enjoyed this story as much as i enjoyed writing it! ᯓᡣ𐭩 ~ ≽/ᐠ _ ̫ _マ≼

Notes:

i'm not sure if i did the kidnapping trope right but i've always felt that there's a lack of animal transformation yeonbin fics so... why not kill two birds in one stone?

also as a reader, i would avoid unfinished fics at all costs and here i am now uploading one... i have the next part planned out TRUST! i need to upload this asap because this plot has been plaguing my mind while studying and i have a window to release this yeonbin from my mind before uni takes over again heol

as always, join my agenda and drop a yeonbin fic now! and appreciate our yeonbin writers! toodles ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ ♡
