Chapter 6: hard launches, concerts, and soulmates

Notes:

This is an excuse for me to write an unnecessarily dramatic hard launch. Thank you.

Chapter Text

The crowd was electric, the air crackling with anticipation as the lights dimmed, the stage suddenly shrouded in darkness. Katsuki stood at the edge of the stage, her fingers flexing around the mic stand, ready for the final song of the night. The pounding bass of the intro reverberated through her chest as the opening chords blared from the speakers, the crowd roaring in response.

Her heart was pounding, but not from the usual adrenaline rush of performing. No, this was different. Izuku was backstage, waiting for her cue. This wasn’t just a guest appearance—it was a declaration. Katsuki had never been one for fanfare, never liked making a spectacle of herself. But tonight, with Izuku standing there, about to step into the spotlight, it felt like everything that had been unsaid between them—the tension, the years of unspoken feelings—was about to break wide open.

The song roared to life, the heavy guitars and pounding drums filling the stadium. Katsuki’s voice, rough and gritty as ever, cut through the noise, commanding attention. The lights flashed in time with the rhythm, the crowd feeding off the raw energy she always gave on stage.

But as she sang, her eyes kept flicking to the side, searching. And then, as the chorus hit, she saw her.

Izuku stepped onto the stage, bathed in a soft spotlight, her figure a sharp contrast to the chaotic energy of Katsuki’s performance. Dressed in a leather jacket, tight black jeans, and her signature white chunky heeled boots, Izuku didn’t look like a pop star—she looked like someone who had always belonged there. She was fierce and confident, a perfect complement to Katsuki’s own rockstar vibe.

The crowd went wild, chanting her name, but Izuku’s eyes were only on Katsuki. She gave her a small, knowing smile, and for a brief moment, the chaos of the performance seemed to fade. There was only them, the shared history, the unspoken words. The space between them had always been filled with tension, and now, in the heat of the moment, it was finally about to explode.

Katsuki barely skipped a beat, keeping her focus on the song as she threw Izuku a look, a silent invitation. Izuku didn’t hesitate. She stepped closer, her voice joining in on the chorus, harmonizing perfectly with Katsuki’s rough, gritty tone. The chemistry between them was palpable, a magnetic force that could have pulled the entire room in.

The final bridge of the song came, and as the last verse approached, Katsuki’s gaze met Izuku’s, the connection undeniable. Without breaking the rhythm, Izuku slid closer, her fingers brushing against Katsuki’s as they sang the final lines together.

As the song drew to its electrifying conclusion, the crowd screamed in excitement, the music still pulsing in their ears. But for Katsuki and Izuku, everything else seemed to fall away.

Izuku reached out, pulling Katsuki into her space. They were inches apart now, their breath mingling, and in that moment, it was just them—no cameras, no crowd, no lights. Just two people who had always been drawn to each other, caught in the current of something deeper than either of them had ever been ready to admit.

Katsuki’s hand found Izuku’s, fingers intertwining, and for the first time in years, the wall between them was gone. The silence between their lips was electric, filled with years of longing and unspoken words. Then, with no more hesitation, Izuku leaned in, her lips meeting Katsuki’s.

The kiss was everything—familiar and new, the culmination of everything that had been building between them. It was urgent, a release, but also a promise, as if to say we're finally here. The crowd’s cheers were distant now, a faint background noise to the moment that felt like it had been years in the making.

As they pulled apart, breathless and wide-eyed, the stadium erupted into a roar. But for Katsuki, the only thing that mattered was the way Izuku was looking at her, the way her chest rose and fell in time with Katsuki’s, as if they were finally in sync.

Izuku grinned, her fingers still intertwined with Katsuki’s, and she leaned in just enough to whisper against her ear. “I guess we’re hard launching now.”

Katsuki let out a breathless laugh, her heart still racing. “Damn right we are.”

The crowd didn’t stop cheering. The lights didn’t stop flashing. But in that moment, everything was still. Because this was real. No more hiding. No more second-guessing. They had said what needed to be said, and now, they were finally together.

And it felt like everything was exactly where it was supposed to be.
