Chapter Text
So around the next day, we can see Izuku and his mom inside the waiting room—waiting for their names to be called so they can see the type of quirk he has. While they wait, Izuku is having a conversation with Aizetsu and Urogi.
“Izuku: (This is still kind of cool, it’s like having brothers but they are inside my head.)”
“Urogi: (Yeah, I get that but also, I think we can do more than that, I have noticed that I could move very fast, and I can generate force that can be used to make shockwaves! I was thinking that maybe I can do it while running fast to build up momentum or using it as a scream like how that present mic guy does it!)”
“Izuku:(Woah that's so cool! Do you think the shockwaves could be around the same as All Mights if we get stronger!?)”
“Urogi:(Maybe but I am always willing to try!)”
“Aizetsu: (how depressing I just want to get this over with and go home, but if you are on the topics I think I can create spears and use them to make energy like projectiles, though I feel like it’s lame...)”
“Izuku:(Now don’t think, I personally think it’s a cool ability and besides I doubt not everything is going to be the same, you can find a way to make it longer, OH! What if you can find some way to make it that you can just summon a bunch of spears and throw them at once!)”
“Urog:(Yeah that would be Super Cool! Also, I think we should start making some more friends! We can ask that girl near us!)”
“Izuku:(wait what girl?)”
Izuku then starts paying more attention to his surroundings—and Urogi is right. There is a girl around the same age as him. She has auburn-colored, bobbed hair with the ends curving inwards, brown eyes, and a seemingly permanent blush on her cheeks. She’s wearing a bright yellow hoodie with the word “Super” on it, along with aquamarine-colored pants and pink shoes. He notices her sitting down a bit away from him with her parents a little farther off.
“Urogi:(she looks friendly, WE SHOULD APPROACH HER!)”
“Aizetsu:(are you sure it’s a good idea, what if she thinks we are weird?)”
“Urogie: (Well we won’t know until we ask, so go ahead might as well try to make a new friend while we can, our only friend doesn’t have to be Kacchan you know.)”
“Izuku:(well you do have a point, plus I might as well try since I don’t really talk to anyone but kacchan)”
Encouraged by his joy clone, Izuku gets down from his seat and approaches the girl.
(The Girl’s POV)
Her name is Ochako Uraraka. She is about 4 years old and loves her parents very much. Recently, about a day ago, she had been playing with some of her toys when she touched one of them with all five fingers. After she finished, she let go to pick something else—only for it to float all the way to the ceiling of their house.
She was excited that she got her quirk, but she didn’t know how to stop it. In her excitement, she touched several things before she began to feel sick. Then her parents found her and, together, they discovered a way for her to cancel it out. After that, she barfed rainbows on the floor—she wasn’t sure why it was rainbows, but either way, now she was on her way to the quirk doctor to get a confirmation on what exactly her quirk was!
She was wearing some comfy gloves that her mother had given her, which had cat prints on them. According to her, they were meant to ensure she didn’t accidentally make something float on the way there.
While sitting and waiting for the doctor to call out their names, a boy around her age approaches her. He looks a bit plain, but he carries certain features of himself—curly green hair that seems so fluffy it casts little shadows on his head, bright emerald green eyes, and freckles arranged in a diamond pattern on his cheeks.
“Green haired boy: H-Hello there! My n-name is Izuku Midoriya. What is your name?”
The green-haired boy fidgets in place as if he isn’t sure whether he should do this. Ochako, however, was not the type to be rude—her parents had taught her better.
“Ochako: I’m-”
Before she can finish, a nurse comes through the door of the waiting room. The doctor is calling for the next people.
“Nurse: Will the Midoriya's please come through the door, the doctor is waiting.”
Ochako looks at the boy and notices that he seems to get quite sad at the call for their name. As a woman with green hair rises and begins making her way to the doctor’s door, she glances back at Izuku.
“Green Haired Woman: Come on Izuku honey, it’s time to go.”
The boy—named Izuku, whose eyes now seem… wait, his eyes are blue now, and so are his pupils. They were not that color before. He lets out a sad sigh and turns to her with a more sorrowful expression.
“Izuku?: Sorry that I couldn’t stay to talk more, have a good day...”
As he turns to walk away, he goes a few steps before turning around and saying, “Oh and the others wanted me to tell you my name is Aizetsu is nice to meet you...”
Then, the boy walks off, holding his mom’s hand as they disappear into the doctor's rooms. As the door closes, Ochako wonders why he had two names and why his eyes changed colors. But before she can really ponder it, another nurse emerges from the door calling her family's name. Holding her parents' hands, she stands and walks through the door—all the while, her mind wandering back to the green-haired boy with eyes that can turn blue, wondering if she will ever meet him again.
“Ochako:(Izuku Midoriya... or is it Aizetsu Midoriya?)”
Cutting back to Izuku—or rather Aizetsu, who is currently in control of the body as the emotion of sadness takes the driver's seat over his inability to even remember the girl’s name—they continue their conversation inside his mind.
“Urogi:(Man, that was literally bad timing we didn’t even get her name either.)”
“Izuku:(Well maybe there is a chance that we might meet again, who knows?)”
“AIzetsu: (it’s a bit sad because she looked like a nice person, also why did I have to say my name, she might get it confused with Izuku's name and call him that instead of his own name?)”
“Urogi:(Because you were taking control if we were to become her friends we might as well make sure she knows each of our names since it would be weird to call us just by Izuku when we have our own name. OH, look we are in front of the doctor QUICK PAY ATTENTION!)”
With that, Aizetsu quickly pulls his attention back to the real world. He and his mom are now inside a room with a doctor named Dr. Tsubasa—a fairly old man of portly, short stature. He is completely bald with a very large, bushy mustache, and he wears a peculiar set of goggles shaped somewhat like gears. His white, buttoned-up lab coat does nothing to ease Aizetsu’s foreboding feeling; something about the man seems dangerous.
“Aizetsu:(I don’t trust this man, I can’t help but feel like he is dangerous in some kind of way...)”
“Urogi:(this old guy? Bro, he looks so old his teeth are possibly fake)”
“Izuku:(There is no reason to be mean, Urogi, maybe it’s just that he is a bit intimidating? But that doesn’t give us a reason to not exactly trust him)”
“Aizetsu:(How depressing... fine but if we end up on some kind of missing list, I’m blaming you)”
As Aizetsu finishes his internal conversation, he focuses on his mom and the doctor discussing his quirk.
“Inko: So he can create clones of himself, but I have only seen two of his clones; they seemed to act like an emotion, and they even gave themselves names—one named himself Aizetsu and the other Urogi.”
“Dr. Tsubasa: Interesting, well we just need a sample of blood so we can get a bit how his quirk works.”
Then he turns to the still-blue-eyed boy—as he looks sadder than what a four-year-old kid would feel upon getting their quirk—and continues, “it will just be a little prick. Will that be fine?”
Though Aizetsu still does not trust the man, he eventually holds out his arm as the doctor takes out a small medical device to collect a pinch of blood. The wound barely bleeds before it seems to close up—a detail that intrigues him. The doctor then tells them to please wait as he exits the office. About 30 minutes later, he returns with some papers and reads them aloud.
“Dr. Tsubasa: Alright, Ms. Midoriya, your son does have a quirk but it seems to be a little complicated.”
He pulls out a chart and places it on a board, using a small extending rod to point out some of his cells from before, and then after he got his quirk.
“Dr. Tsubasa: You see these pictures, right? The one on the left is before your son got his quirk, and this on the right is after. His cells seem to duplicate at a very fast rate. It also seems to grant him a regenerative ability along with his main power. Incredibly, it appears that he can even regenerate things like an arm, a leg, or even a head. Can you tell me if he had any injuries prior to coming here?”
Their mother hesitates—traumatized by the events surrounding Izuku—but Aizetsu, who is currently in control of the body and eager to get the examination over with, replies for her.
“Aizetsu: Izuku fell on a rock—neck first—and the impact caused his head to be severed from his body. Then we regenerated and became two instead of one, but can you just please get to the main point? I just want to go home...”
“Dr. Tsubasa: Interesting... Well anyway, it seems your quirk allows you to split into a clone of yourself based on an emotion of your own, and it is special—unlike other clone quirks. Each of your clones not only has a personality and mind of their own, but they also exhibit a different ability. Also, note that the clones can regenerate if damaged. However, if you try to cut something off to form a new clone, it would be weaker than the original and could be destroyed without further cloning. The most interesting factor is that young Izuku also has a regenerative ability and his own power—size alteration, making himself smaller, faster, and more durable. But be careful: unlike the clones, if you’ve already separated your fear self, you can’t regenerate from something like losing your head. So if you plan on being a hero, avoid keeping yourself exposed.”
“Inko: Well, thank you for the examination—but what about the other emotion clones? I have only seen joy and sorrow so far.”
“Dr. Tsubasa: They will come later in your son’s life or might already be present. Now, young man, what would you like to call your quirk?”
At that moment, the eyes return to their regular color as Izuku, now back in control, lets the others—Urogi and Aizetsu—think. They settle on a name.
“Izuku: I want it to be named emotion manifestation!”
“Urogi:(I still think emoticon would have been a better name, but on the bright side we finally have a name to our quirk and what we can do!)”
“Aizetsu:(I will try not to slow you down, but I still don’t trust this guy—he’s just causing me to get sadder. Can we go home now?)”
With an excited Izuku, they leave the doctor’s room and return home. As they exit, Izuku looks around to see if the brown-haired girl is still there. She isn’t. Since her family was called in, he feels a pang of disappointment over the missed opportunity for a new friend. His mom quickly cheers him up by saying that since he now has his quirk, there’ll be a little celebration. She’ll invite the Bakugou’s over for a playdate with Katsuki, plus she will make his favorite dish—which excites him. So, they go home for the day.
Once home, Izuku immediately runs to his room to clean it up while his mom starts making some calls. In his tidied-up room, he takes out his little notebook—one he still writes in with crayon—and begins to record the day’s events.
“Izuku: ‘Izuku Midoriya, Quirk: Emotion Manifestation. This quirk allows me to split into two clones—Urogi and Aizetsu. When we separate, I also have a different ability that allows me to shrink in size, making me faster and more durable. For Urogi, we’ve only seen him move slightly faster but we haven’t tested his full potential yet, and the same goes for Aizetsu as we haven’t seen exactly how his spear works. We’ll test these abilities later.’”
After writing, Izuku decides to take a break and lie on his bed, feeling very happy about what happened today. He is now more acquainted with his new “brothers,” his quirk is registered, and Kacchan is coming over. Plus, he’s getting Katsudon for dinner. It has been a very pleasurable day.
“???:I Know right?”
Abruptly, he opens his eyes to see Aizetsu and Urogi looking at him inside their shared mind space. Sitting up, he glances at the TV—which is black because the body’s eyes are closed.
“Izuku: wait huh? I don’t remember switching out and who was that?”
“???:That was me, man nice to meet ya’.”
The TV shows the body’s eyes open before it gets up and starts walking toward the bathroom. Using a stool, the body peers into the mirror. In it, Izuku is reflected with green eyes—his normally green pupils now entirely green, with the top a dark green and the bottom a slightly lighter shade of emerald. His pupils, now a lighter hue than usual, seem to offer a lazy wave.
“???:Hiya, it’s nice to meet you guys, I have been sitting in the back for a while now so I decided to show up seeing how relaxed you were—and nice notes by the way.”
The new clone lets his tongue out slightly, revealing the kanji for “pleasure” (楽, raku), and then begins moving out of the bathroom.
“Inko: Izuku, honey, come down—the Bakugou’s are here!”
“???:Coming Ma!”
The clone, now known as “Pleasure” (Karaku), starts walking down the stairs. Their mom welcomes the Bakugou’s—a family headed by Mitsuki Bakugou, from whom Katsuki inherits his looks and personality. Mitsuki is a woman with spiky ash-blonde hair and red eyes; despite being in her late thirties, her quirk keeps her looking youthful.
Shortly thereafter, Masaru Bakugou, Katsuki’s father, enters. He’s a middle-aged man of average height and build, with short brown hair similar in style to his wife and son, a short mustache, and rectangular glasses. Though calmer than his wife and son, he remains a loving family man—albeit often startled by their occasional arguments.
“Mitsuki: So, I heard about how little Izuku had gotten his quirk, but I am pretty sure that his eyes weren’t always so green though?”
“???: And you will be right about that because I am not Izuku, rather I am one of his emotion clones that decided to say hi. You guys can call me Karaku.”
“Katsuki: So, wait, now there are like 3 more of you now? What do I need to expect more of or something?”
“Karaku: Most definitely, though I'm sure you won’t mind after all—you're supposed to be the great Kacchan, aren’t you~?”
Karaku gives a teasing wink to ruffle Katsuki’s feathers, just like a brother would.
“Inko: Anyway, let's all eat, everyone!”
Dinner passes smoothly. Later, Urogi separates from the main body, and it’s primarily Urogi and Karaku conversing while Aizetsu and Izuku—now in his fear emotion since his quirk is officially activated—realize that he only transforms like this when two of his clones are active. At this moment, he even has a smaller body hidden inside Karaku’s. Once dinner finishes, Urogi and Karaku practically drag Katsuki along to go and play in Izuku’s—or, rather, their shared room.
“Katsuki: So, is there actually anything different that you guys can do, or can you only just make clones?”
“Urogi: Well, I have been feeling like I can move very fast and create shockwaves, but I don’t think our room is the best place to practice that.”
“Karaku: well I have something that I can, here watch this”
Karaku closes his eyes and concentrates a bit. To the surprise of Katsuki, the other clones, and Izuku alike, a maple leaf-shaped hand fan materializes from his hands. Its base is orange, and as it extends to the ends of its leaves, a green tint appears. While Izuku and Urogi express their amazement, Katsuki remains unimpressed and Aizetsu is, well, just being Aizetsu.
“Katsuki: Pff- that's it, just a weird looking fan? What are you going to do at a villain with that, fan them to cool them off?”
Karaku grins, then moves the fan upward. In a matter of moments, the fan flaps in Katsuki’s direction. Nothing happens immediately, until a sudden big woosh of air sends the young Katsuki flying off his feet a little, landing on his bottom near the door. The gust pushes him about five feet away from his previous position—so much so that some of the All Might merchandise nearly falls over. Urogi quickly steps in to steady the items as the winds generated by the fan glow a bright green. Once the wind subsides, Karaku grins at the downed Katsuki.
“Karaku: You feel cool enough, Kacchan?”
“Katsuki: Yeah, yeah, laugh it up, Fanboy. Won’t catch me off guard next time.”
“Karaku: Fanboy?”
Before Karaku can continue, Mitsuki’s voice is heard yelling from downstairs.
“Mitsuki: KATSUKI IT’S TIME TO GO HOME!”
“Katsuki: YEAH HAG, I’M COMING, GIVE ME A SEC!”
“Mitsuku: DON’T CALL YOUR MOTHER A HAG YOU LITTLE BRAT!”
Later that evening, after the Bakugou’s leave and Inko tucks them in for bed, all the clones combine again. Just like before, as they fall asleep, they enter their subconscious—a place to talk and play with their imaginations. Now, Karaku is among them.
“Izuku: So that does raise a question: if you were already there watching us, then how come you didn’t show up before?”
“Karaku: Well, me and the other one decided to only come when the emotion we represent is raised the most—it helps our development. The only one you haven’t really felt in a while is anger.”
“Aizetsu: Anger? How sorrowful, he isn’t going to be the loud type of angry, is he?”
“Urogi: Well, if we do have an angry one, I guess he probably won’t show up as much since Izuku doesn’t get angry often.”
“Izuku: Well, even if they are an angrier person, he is still a brother to me so I will accept him with open arms!”
The conversation drifts into light-hearted banter as they use their minds to alter their surroundings—a playful space where imagination meets reality. Yet, in the back of it all, a figure draped in a red aura watches silently, contemplating what the original said before sighing and continuing to observe their fun.
