Chapter Text

Okay. This is fine.

That’s what he has to tell himself, right? Right.

Jason has been lying in his bed for a good portion of the day, trying to work up the confidence to get out of bed. He’d asked Percy to meet him soon. The thought of confessing to Percy had been eating away at him for months, and he told himself he’d do it today.

And all though he was so nervous he felt like he was going to throw up, he was also relieved to finally get this off his chest. Percy has been distant the past few weeks, and Jason missed him.

Bad.

He told himself that it was perfectly fine to miss another person like this.

Right?

With a groan he pushed himself up, sitting with his legs hanging over the edge of his bed and hair falling in his eyes. Okay.

Getting ready was a blur. He stood under the hot spray of the shower, shoved a toothbrush in his mouth, and got dressed. The journey to the cafe was filled with shouting people, the bustle of New York, and crowded subways. He sat in the little cafe for about ten minutes before Percy showed up.

Percy, with his windswept look and skater-boy attire. Messy black hair with a gray streak in the front, spreading through the rest of his hair. Sun kissed skin littered with scars and freckles, the latter little gifts from his summers at Montauk. Sea glass eyes that shine in the dim light, crinkled in the corners with that breathtaking smile.

The other man makes his way through the nearly empty seating, taking the chair across from Jason. Jason slides him a cup with a soft smile. Blue jasmine bubble tea, which Percy ordered every time they came here.

Percy instantly broke into a bright grin, all worry on his face instantly disappearing. “Thank you, Jace.” He murmured, voice so soft and genuine that Jason just about melted right there. He watched as Percy sipped the blue drink, features melting into satisfaction.

“Of course.” Jason whispered, a lazy grin adorning his lips. He propped his chin in his hand, trying to work up his courage. A hot feeling like molten rock was dripping through his chest, making him feel sick and nervous.

“So…” He and Percy both started. Jason had to force back a blush.

“No, you. Please.” He insisted, waving his hand absently. Percy gave him another pretty boy smile.

“Well, I’m sorry I’ve been ignoring you.” Percy said, voice soft and full of regret. “I didn’t know how else to deal with it.”

“Deal with what?” Jason asked instantly, tilting his head in an almost wolf-like fashion.

Percy spread his hands helplessly. “A lot of things.”

With a quiet hum from Jason, they lapsed into silence. Percy cleared his throat. “What were you going to say?”

Jason took a deep breath. He could do this.

“I want to tell you something.” He started avoiding Percy’s gaze. “And I’d understand if you reacted badly.”

He felt rather than saw Percy’s face change. It morphed from calm to momentary panic to a neutral mask. “Okay.”

Jason’s nerves felt like they were on fire. Okay. “I uhm…” He cleared his throat once. Twice. Runs a hand through his hair. “I think I like you? A lot?”

Percy’s breath hitched. Something like guilt flickered over that mask. “I know.” He said softly, eyes never leaving Jason's face.

Jason immediately snapped his gaze to Percy’s, eyes wide with growing panic. “What?” His voice broke over the word. Had he been that obvious? Did someone tell him?

“You uh… told me. Two weeks ago, when you were drunk.” The other man confessed, face softening.

Jason felt like he’d been hit over the head. The cafe was spinning, hands shaking slightly, eyes blurring despite his glasses. “Oh.” He never knew his voice could get so small. “I… I’m sorry.”

Percy shook his head sharply, reaching over the small table to grab Jason’s hand. The world narrowed down to that simple contact. “No, Jace… please don’t be sorry. I… didn’t want to take advantage of the situation.” His voice wavered and his eyes dropped. “But I’d wanted to hear that for longer than I want to admit.”

Something like relief broke out in Jason’s chest, washing over his limbs like a cold shower. “Really?”

Percy swallowed, Adam's apple bobbing, and met his eyes. “Yeah.”

………

Hot kisses were trailed over his neck. Warm hands wandered over his cold body, tracing the contours of his muscles. Jason’s head was tilted back, allowing Percy better access to his throat. The other man's teeth grazed his skin, sending hot spikes of adrenaline and pleasure through his blood.

His own hands were tangled in Percy’s soft hair, fingers brushing through it. Hips moved against his in a steady beat, and he moved his own to match. Lips met his, soft but insistent. A song was blaring through his apartment, but he didn’t recognize it.

I need,
I need,
I need,
I need,
I need-

Percy’s hands were soft and patient, not probing him into anything he didn’t want. His voice, low and soft, brushed against Jason’s ear to ask consent to everything. Is this okay? May I?

Yes.

Always yes.

I need,
I need,
I need,
I need,
I need-

Soon both their shirts were discarded. Jason’s mouth explored Percy’s bare chest, pressing little kisses to each muscle and scar and freckle. Hands were buried in his hair. Soft noises of encouragement rang out.

Buttons undone, zippers pulled down, pants pushed away. A hot mouth around him. Sharp cries echoing through his body. Fingers tugging at soft hair.

Soft afterglow and heavy eyes. Falling asleep in each other's arms. Warmth washing over them.

I need you here with me
