Chapter Text

On a bright sunny morning, rays of sunshine seep through the closed blinds. Alex's eyes flicker awake to only kick off the blanket off of her legs to control her body heat better. Rolling on her side, her shoulder hits against a stocky upper body, which she realizes it to be Rafe's.

How drunk was she to bring him home with her?

She was praying on the inside that Barry had left or was locked away in his dusty old room with the door shut. Knowing he was a deep sleeper it wouldn’t be too hard to get Rafe out.

Forgetting that she was watching him sleep, Alex stood over him. His chest rose and fell at a slow speed, and she could even observed how long his eyelashes were when his eyes were closed. She thought to herself that she preferred him this way, quiet, and not furrowing his eyebrows at her, or screaming at her when he grew frustrated.

"Are you just gonna watch me sleep, Alex? Or are you gonna put on a shirt?" Rafe muttered, growing a cocky smile across his countenance. The girl froze with fear, scrambling away to pull a shirt she had found on the floor over her head.

"Sorry." She mumbled. Rafe rolled over to his side, rubbing his eyes to rub the sleepiness away. Still lightly flustered, Alex spoke, "Why- Why are you in my bed?"

Rafe brought his feet around the bed, sticking his feet on the ground, "You went to a party, fucked another dude in front of me, I took you home, didn't want me to leave, so now I'm here."

Giving the whole run down to Alex, Alex rubbed the temples of her forehead, hoping to rub off the occurring headache drilling in her head. She knew alcohol was not a good coping mechanism she had, and It always led to the worst outcomes. She didn't even want to explain herself to the guy sitting on her bed, she just wished to go back in bed and get rid of her hangover with going back to sleep.

"I'm sorry, Rafe for whatever happened yesterday. But I can lead you out now." Alex's tone shadowed more of a embarrassed strain instead of a uncaring tone, the embarrassment dug deep.

"Yes, that's fine. I'm meeting with Liz anyway." Rafe tells, finding it necessary to inform Alex.

"Oh, meeting up with another girl after waking at some other girl's house, classy." Alex wits, tossing him his shoes.

"I don't want to hear it from you, Alex. You got fucked by some dude-"

"While you watched and jerked off," Alex reminded, having a smug look while the blood rushed out of Rafe's face, "Yeah, I remember now, Rafe."

Rafe rolled his eyes, slipping on his shoes. "Maybe we do have to stop whatever this is."

Alex took a deep breath, she was aware of this situation with Rafe was going no where, but no matter how many times either of them said that they were going to end it, somehow they found themselves in one of their beds. It was like a never-ending cycle of fighting, fucking, then waking up next to each other.

Rafe had no direction in his current life, he had no clue what life would look like without Alex, but couldn't see Liz in his future. He wanted to end things with her, but ending things would make it seem like Alex won, as if she got what she wanted. Rafe couldn't have that.

In a visible rush to leave, Rafe sped out of her room with no warning. Alex jumped into action, praying that Barry was not in the common room. "Rafe, be quiet on your-"

"Don't tell me what to do." Rafe sterned. His walk was focused and long swift strides took him straight to the door, he was quiet up until passing the door frame. He gave a little extra push to the front door, earning a ringing slam throughout the home.

Alex internally cursed at herself, hearing a loud groan from Barry's room, "Shut the fuck up, Alex!"

--

Back in her room, hearing her phone ring she picks it up. The contact reading Sarah, made her hesitant to answer. Although, due to routine of always answering her calls, her finger pressed the green button.

"Hey Alex, I know it's been some time, but do you want to meet me at Kegger beach?"

Alex takes a short breath, unknown to the idea that Kie would string along too, "Sure, I can you there."

In the time that she got there, the sun beamed heat giving everyone the same idea to head down to the local beach for that day. The beach was packed as it was on every hot day, and it made things more difficult to find the blonde amongst every other blonde on the beach. Thanking her eyesight for picking her figure up, she made her way over to the girl. However the girl wasn't alone.

Alex grew anxious hen she could tell that her other brunette curly haired friend had joined them at the beach. Scared to approach, she made it look awkward when she waved hello. Though, telling by the looks of her face, she had no clue that Alex was showing up to their plans.

"And who invited you?" Kie sassed, folding her arms over her chest. Before Alex could even defend herself, Kie shrugged her off, "Actually it doesn't matter, I was just leaving."

Sarah stopped her before she could walk off, she wanted to fix the friendship Kie and Alex once had just like how Alex helped restore the friendship her and Kie had. It was like she was paying it back, "Wait, don't leave. Don’t you think it's time to forgive Alex? Or at least talk about it?"

Kie scoffed, "This isn't a therapy session?"

Alex chimed in, "Look, I can start, I am sorry for not telling you guys but hopefully you can see from my side. I knew it wasn't right to hold it from you but if I did tell you guys from the beginning would that change on how you feel right now?"

Alex had a point, even though if she told them that she was strictly sleeping with Rafe from day 1, Kie would still would have questioned her decisions. Things wouldn’t have been different and Kie knew that. Due to her silence, Alex knew how she felt as well.

"Do you like him, Alex?" Kie asked, growing uneasy at her own question.

Alex shrugged, "No, well-" She cut herself off, she has never really been in tune with her feelings when it came with Rafe. In the beginning it was truly just for sex, but somehow as time passed there were other feelings that got mingled in, Alex just had no idea what those feelings were. Most of the time she ignored whatever she felt, it felt wrong to care for Rafe. However, with the situation that is going on right now, Rafe being with Liz and all, she didn't want to say anything because in the end she could potentially look stupid. "I don't know."

Kie nods, "Look, I know this is your life, and I don't want to be mad at you forever, I just wished it was someone else, you know? Like Rafe is a bad person."

"I know he could be, and I don't want to sit here and tell you that he is perfect, but sometimes I don't know who to turn to and he's been there, that's all." Alex sighed, earning empathetic stares from her friends. They didn't want to see her hurt from their own doings of being mad at her, just cause of a person she affiliated herself with.

"I'm sorry, Alex. I didn't mean to cause more problems in your life that you already have." Kie apologized, opening her arms so that her friends could embrace her. Which when they did, they laughed it off, regaining the happiness they felt when they were on good terms.
