Chapter Text

A man staggered out of his home, limply slamming the door behind him accidentally.

He swung side to side like a drunk. The man looked up with a dazed expression, entering an alleyway next to a building a girl sat on as she sang to herself, her eyes closed as if enjoying the breeze.

She opened her eyes to stare into the alleyway, watching as the man picked up a broken glass bottle. She averted her eyes to look at what was below her from her sky view up from the building.

She heard the jab of the bottle breaking skin, letting her eyes closed, relaxing knowing that she was successful yet again and wouldn’t have to worry for another week or so, the humming going silent.

Shoto took a sip of his coffee, before setting it down, his hand against his forehead in frustration as he leaned forward on the table in his apartment. Staring at a paper in his free hand with a print of a missing man’s name, he let out an exhausted sigh. People had been going “missing” for a bit now, no evidence or clue to why.

Well, it wasn’t exactly missing.

People would go missing for a day or two, sure, but eventually they would be found in some secretive place like an alleyway, dead for suicide.

The best lead they’ve got is some singing voice, and that’s only a rumor since only some people at the scene heard now. Now, it’s rare for someone to catch ear of this odd siren song.

It seems that the singer might be using a quirk, since only some can hear it. If that is the case, then whoever it is is getting better at using it, for better or for worse.

Most of the victims had some minor business like family issues, the most recent one being a child abuser. Used to hit his wife, too.

That doesn’t excuse the fact that this is still murder though. So far, the killer is looking at 50 years in prison.

That is, is it is a killer considering these are all still considered suicides. Shota knew, though. The timings were too perfect. Always at night on a Sunday, around 2-4 am from autopsy reports.

None of the victims had a plausible motive, either. They just did it. “Doing alright, Sho?” A man with blonde hair walked in, causing Shota to look up. “oh, Hizashi…”

He gave the paper in his hand a single shake. “Another case.” Hizashi’s expression went stern, as he went over, looking down at the paper from behind Aizawa.

“This one was some drunk child abuser. There is no known motive so far.” The blonde’s eyebrow poked up. “Guilt?” The man stared at the paper as if he hadn’t heard him, though he was thinking about the possibility.

“Guilt from abusing his kid, you mean? We got a report though that everything had been normal before then, in fact, when we went to check the home the kid had some pretty fresh wounds..”

“Not that typa situation, huh..” Even Hizashi had a curled finger to his chin now. “So you think it’s a quirk?” Shots shrugged. “Probably, some heard some weird singing.”

“Singing? Like a siren.?” he was skeptical, but in this world what wasn't possible? Aizawa gave him a nod. “You should get back to this tomorrow, Sho. You need sleep.”

The black haired hero let out another sigh, rubbing his temples. “Fine..” He got up from the table, leaving the papers there and walking to his room in their shared apartment.

In order to save on rent, they lived with each other. Economy sucks these days, you know?

Aizawa shut the door behind him, walking over to his bed and falling backwards onto it. He stared up at his ceiling, still thinking about the case despite saying he was going to leave it for tomorrow morning.

It was his last thought before his consciousness drifted off. He knew it wasn’t a coincidence. It couldn’t’ve been.

“Waaaaa!” A girl with short blonde hair with black tips stared at a shelf in a bookstore. “I came here last week, but they didn’t have the gl she wanted in stock yet, and so they said they would have it in stock now..”

Her eyes scanned the shelves. “So where are they.?! There’s no way they’re already sold out, right? It’s only been a day since they restocked!” After scanning the shelves a last time, she let out a defeated sigh.

“Guess I’m gonna have to wait til next week.. I shouldn’t be busy on monday, anyways..” It was pretty late, so the green eyed teen quickly left the store, walking back home.

She had to get back before her dad woke up, otherwise there’s a high chance she’d get hit. It’s about 4:34 right now.. And he gets up to go to work at around 5. She gets home in about 10 minutes if she runs, so she’ll make it on time.

Hopefully.

As she walked home, She heard a ruckus coming from an alleyway just steps ahead. She stopped walking, leaning forward to look into the alleyway at what could be in it. She spotted a boy who looked around her age with green curly hair bouncing off of the walls.

Huh.. weirdo. Was he using his quirk? And what’s with the clothes? Could he have been a hero? He seems too young..

Vigilante? Well, it didn't matter to her. She noted the face in case it was someone else to watch out for while she was out at night, even if he didn’t seem like much of a threat. She checked her phone to see how much longer she had till she had to be home..

4:40. She quickly cursed under her breath, running back home and entering through her window, gently closing it, locking it, and hastily tip-toe-running to her bed, throwing the sheets up and hurrying to lay.

She was fast enough that the sheets still had been slowly falling down onto her. She reached up, grabbing and pulling them down onto her. Then she heard the light switch. Her father’s heavy footsteps followed.

She shut her eyes, praying he wouldn’t check on her since she felt like she was too tense from the panic she felt of being caught that he might realize she was up. The footsteps fade away, causing her to sigh in relief.

The pink eyed girl decided maybe it was about time to go to bed after all, as she tried to calm the last of her nerves and drift off to sleep.

Notes:

So like I actually don’t know when I’ll put the next chapter out so don’t expect one unless you ask for one (previous notes said “next Wednesday!!!”) because you see I like to write on a laptop so I used my school one but summer came and BOOM laptops were collected so uh, give me minimum a month

Notes:

First fic! I’m trying to figure out a good schedule so the notes on chapter 2 will say, but expect another chapter minimum Saturday and maximum next Wednesday
