Two weeks later, Joe was home again, feeling much better, thanks to Nicky and his Mother's care. Nicky came into the living room with a glass of water.
Joe: "Dad has just picked up Mom from the airport."
Nicky: "That is good to hear. Here."
Nicky held out the glass and the pills. When Joe saw it, he made a face.
Nicky: "It is the last pills and tomorrow there is a check-up with the doctor."
Joe: "If I eat the pills, do you promise to go with me and hold my hand?"
Nicky: "Try stopping me."
Joe swallowed the pills before smiling at Nicky.
Nicky: "For eating your medicine, you deserve a kiss."
Joe: "I like that kind of payment."
Nicky kissed Joe, and after four kisses, Joe took his iPad while Nicky decided to water the plants.
Nicky: "Joe?"
Joe: "Hmmm."
Joe looked up from the iPad.
Joe: "What is it, Babe?"
Nicky: "While you were ill, you told me I should tell your Mom to keep the promise she had given you regarding me. What was that about?"
Joe patted the seat next to him on the sofa, and Nicky sat down. Then, Joe took Nicky's hand in his hand.
Joe: "Before I asked you to marry me, I asked my Mom to make sure you would never be alone in the world again if something happened to me, since you don't have any parents - something Mom promised me."
Nicky: "Being without parents is often the fate of an orphan, but thanks for thinking of me, Joe, I really appreciate it."
Joe kissed Nicky before he leaned his forehead against Nicky's forehead.
Joe: "As long as Mom and I are around, you will never be alone again or without a family. Do you want to hear something funny?"
Nicky nodded.
Joe: "When my Aunts heard that Mom wanted to adopt you, they all started to argue about who you should stay with in case we ever got into a big fight."
They both laughed.
Nicky: "I can imagine it happening, so did they come to an agreement?"
Joe: "They are still arguing about it, but Nicky, it tells me that my family loves you and that you are considered as one of the family members- something I am very happy about."
Nicky: "So am I, truly."
They sat a bit in silence until Nicky saw what Joe had been doing on the iPad.
Nicky: "Joe? Why are you looking at boats? None of us knows how to sail one."
Joe: "Oh, that, well, do you remember you said I could choose our next roleplay?"
Nicky nodded.
Joe: "I can tell you that it will take place on a boat."
Nicky: "Uhm, okay, I still don't get it."
Joe: "I won't give too much away, but the theme is 'The Pirate and The Stowaway' and for that theme we need a boat."
Nicky: "Where did you get that idea from?"
Joe rolled up his tank top before pointing at the scar after his surgery.
Nicky: "A scar doesn't make you a pirate, Joe."
Joe looked a bit disappointed at Nicky.
Joe: "So, you don't like my idea?"
Nicky: "I love it, but couldn't be on a boat, because I get terribly seasick as soon as I see a wave?"
Joe: "I know all about your seasickness. That is why I have taken that into account, because I was searching for a hotel at the harbour front, so we are staying on dry land. Or do you think it is a terrible idea?"
Nicky kissed Joe.
Nicky: "I love your idea of a romantic getaway. Get back to planning because I can't wait."
Joe: "On it. What will you be doing while I plan? And your answer better not be the laundry because I will do it tomorrow."
Nicky: "I was thinking of buying that orchid I saw yesterday."
Joe looked around the living room and at all the flowers because they were the reason why he called it the jungle.
Nicky: "Or else I will just get milk."
Joe kissed Nicky.
Joe: "Buy all the flowers you want, My Love, because I love them all."
Nicky: "If you are sure."
Joe: "I am sure. Cross my heart."
Joe did the gesture before kissing Nicky.
Joe: "Now, and I say this with love, please leave so I can plan our next romantic getaway. I love you."
Nicky: "Not as much as I love you. Be back in an hour."
Joe: "I will be counting the seconds until you return."
Nicky: "Incurable romantic."
Joe smiled, and after a kiss, Nicky left to buy the orchid he wanted, while Joe planned the rest of their romantic getaway.
