Work Text:
Joe stood up after eating his lunch.
Joe: "Going to the outhouse."
Nicky disappeared behind his book, laughing over something Nile didn't know what was.
Joe: "It will never be funny, Nicoló."
Nile knew now that the something Nicky was laughing over had to be a great story.
Joe: "And no, you can't hear that story, Nile."
Nile: "I didn't say anything, I was eating."
Nile took a big bite of the sandwich.
Joe: "And Nicky. If you hope for sex the next decade, you keep your mouth shut."
Nicky: "You do know that denying me sex for a decade will also affect you? And I know one thing for sure about you..."
Nile looked at Nicky.
Nile: "Whatever you were about to say, please don't say it in front of the youngest Immortal."
Nicky: "Okay, I'll tell Joe later."
Joe tried to scare Nile and Nicky with a mean look, hoping it would keep them both in place, before he left.
Nile: "So, Nicky..."
Nile moved her chair closer to Nicky.
Nile: "Wanna tell me why you were laughing before?"
Nicky: "And risk going without sex for a decade?"
Nicky closed his book with a smile.
Nicky: "Hell yes, because I know that before the day ends, Joe will come begging for sex."
Nicky rubbed his eye with his finger.
Nicky: "Okay, a long time ago, when we were still called Yusuf and Nicoló, we were travelling through an area in North Africa that was in the middle of a tribal war, something we didn't know at that time."
Nile: "Joe has told me stories about how, before the time of the internet, you would often find yourself in the middle of wars you didn't know of because you didn't have access to TV or Google."
Nicky: "Things were different back then."
As Nicky got older, he missed the times before the internet, when he didn't know most things in advance, something he also knew Joe felt.
Nicky: "Okay, so we were travelling and after days on foot, we found an outhouse. You do know what an outhouse is?"
Nile: "Yes, a toilet outside the building."
Nicky nodded.
Nicky: "And Yusuf, being Yusuf, he wanted a moment to himself after peeing out in the open for days."
Nile: "I can relate to that."
Nicky: "So, Yusuf sprinted for the outhouse without knowing that the outhouse was a part of one of the tribe's big plans."
Nile: "Oh, this is going to be good."
Nicky smiled.
Nicky: "The tribe had built the outhouse as a way to lure in people from the other tribe who needed to relieve themselves, and the moment Yusuf closed the door, a rain of arrows hit the outhouse, well..."
Nicky laughed.
Nicky: "Let's just say that if Yusuf didn't heal as he did, he would have died in the outhouse that day."
Nile also started to laugh.
Nicky: "After we ran for the hills, I noticed that Yusuf, not alone, had lost his pants, but also still had two arrows sticking out of his ass."
Nile: "Oh, this story gets better and better. Did you pull out the arrows?"
Joe: "Yes, he did, after he was done laughing, which took forever."
Nile and Nicky looked at Joe, who leaned up against the doorframe with his arms crossed and a grumble on his face.
Nicky: "I did say sorry for laughing."
Joe: "Yeah, you did."
Nicky: "And you forgave me after I kissed your ouchie."
Joe: "Also true."
Joe winked at Nicky, and Nile knew she wouldn't ask about how Nicoló said sorry to Yusuf, but she did have other questions.
Nile: "So, Yusuf had lost his pants. Did he have others with him?"
Nicky: "No, it was his last pair, so he borrowed a pair of mine."
Joe: "We have done that before and will still do it in the future."
Nile: "That's sweet, but for how long did Yusuf walk around in your pants?"
Nicky: "I think it was for around eight days until we reached a town, where Yusuf could buy new pants. It was also there that we heard of the tribal war and were warned not to go East, which was the direction we were coming from. And what the tribal war was about, I have forgotten because it was so long ago."
Joe: "I can only say the same thing."
Joe walked over to Nicky, where he placed his hands on Nicky's shoulders.
Joe: "Now that you have gotten your story, Nile, I need to talk with my husband alone."
Joe dragged Nicky to his feet with a smile.
Joe: "It will properly take the rest of the day. Right, Nicky?"
Nicky: "If you say so, but if you don't see me by tomorrow, please come search for me, Nile."
Nile: "I promise. Get out of here."
Joe and Nicky hugged Nile before they left, hand in hand. While Joe talked with Nicky, Nile took advantage of having access to fifty TV channels and a big bowl of popcorn.
