Chapter Text
“You have to agree that it’s a little bit absurd!” Soojin exclaimed.
“I don’t know,” Miyeon pouted. “I just feel bad for her.”
They were standing in the kitchen, pouring themselves another glass of champagne as they heard the muffled voices of the other girls talking in the next room.
“She’s just shamefully pointing out all her flaws in front of all of us,” Soojin shook her head. “Feels a little too harsh if you ask me.”
“I agree,” Miyeon nodded. “And the poor girl looks so uncomfortable just being here.”
Soojin shook her head. She got another glass from the cabinet, poured some champagne into it and then grabbed that glass and her own. With certainty, she marched towards the living room.
“You coming?” she asked Miyeon as she gave her a glance.
The slightly older woman nodded and hurried behind her.
The mansion was so big that it took a full minute to get to the living room, but all of the girls’ heads turned towards the door when Soojin stormed in.
“Okay, we’re not doing it like this,” Soojin shook her head and motioned towards Yuqi, who was pressing Miyeon’s clothes against Soyeon’s shaking body. “Yuqi, back away.”
When Soojin raised her voice like that, everyone just had to listen. It was a rule. So, Yuqi dropped the dress and backed off. Minnie and Shuhua, who were both sitting on the opposite couch, naturally straightened their backs. When Miyeon sat down next to them, Minnie looked at her with a raised eyebrow. Miyeon just shrugged and looked and Soojin sit down next to Soyeon.
“Did you even introduce us, Yuqi?” Soojin frowned at her.
When Yuqi slowly shook her head, Soojin sighed. She put the two glasses on the table and turned to Soyeon.
“My name is Soojin,” she said and smiled to a wide-eyed, but nodding, Soyeon. “This idiot right here is Yuqi, who I guess you somewhat know already unless she kidnapped you here which wouldn’t surprise me too much. That’s Shuhua, Minnie and Miyeon. It’s nice to meet you.”
Soyeon slowly lowered her head as a greeting.
“Now, if you want to leave,” Soojin said, “I’ll have Minnie hold Yuqi back and you can make a run for it, but if not,” she reached forward towards the glasses and grabbed them again, “have a drink with me. You will need it.”
Soyeon looked between all of the girls. She knew who all of them were, of course. Yuqi, who scared her to death since the second she spilled her drink on her, but who, despite how she carried herself, was sweet about it and didn’t scream at her like she thought she would. Yuqi who’d been weirdly interested in her since that moment, as if she was studying her. Yuqi who’d have walked up to her in the middle of school, to invite her to this dinner.
Then there was Soojin, who was the lead in all of the dance shows. She made Soyeon nervous, but she was captivating to look at. All of the girls would show up to the shows and would bring the loudest cheers.
And then there was captain Minnie from the football team. Soyeon wasn’t a very big fan of sports, but there was no way to escape all the shatter about how the team brought home yet another win. Minnie was especially praised, everyone knew who she was.
And then Shuhua, who was the only one who prior to the Yuqi-incident, had looked at her. Just in the hallways, or in the cafeteria. And it was often a stare followed by a weak smile. Soyeon would just look away, because each time Shuhua looked at her, if felt like she was looking into her soul.
Of course everybody knew Miyeon. She was famous, and not just at their university. Soyeon regularly saw her videos as she scrolled and her pictures showed up every time she went on the explore-page. She was gorgeous and sweet, so everyone loved her.
Soyeon always wished to be like them. To be pretty, to be popular. To have friends. Anyone would be dumb to pass up on this opportunity.
With that in mind, Soyeon slowly grabbed the glass from Soojin’s hand. She cheered with her and took a sip, but couldn’t hide her dislike when the sour taste hit her tastebuds.
“Alright,” Soojin said. “Let’s start with getting to know each other.”
