Chapter Text
Black Pearl cookie laughed. She often did.
These cookies were fools.
“Please, spare us!” One shouted, arms gripped to the ship’s railing.
“We were only here to hunt!” One begged, falling to his knees for good measure.
It was always great to hear their pleas for mercy. Like a seasoning to the fear buffet. She raised the ship up, the water swirling around her.
“We only wanted to hunt mermaids! That cookie on the dock said we’d make a fortune!”
She froze for a brief moment before widening her sharp-toothed grin.
“You found a mermaid, cookies!” She started. “It’ll be the last thing you ever see!” She laughed loudly, each giggle causing the cookies to flinch.
Her tail flapped under the water before striking at the boat. Cookies always used wood for their boats. They never thought about how fragile that material was. How easy it was to break apart. She should thank them for never changing that. It added some extra fun to see the terror in their eyes before they died.
She finished up her meal before letting the remains drift slowly down, before she swam down with it.
She couldn’t help but think of what that one cookie said.
A cookie on the dock told them about mermaids.
Could it be…
No.
Black Pearl Cookie was immortal. The land cookies were not.
That- What was his name? Blueberry Milk? He was certainly dead by now. Even though she loved when those cookies died, she frowned at the thought of him.
She wondered if he’d be proud of the cookie she had become.
Certainly not. He was a professor, if she remembered the look of him right. A cute one, but a professor nonetheless.
He would be disappointed.
She shook her head.
Dead cookies don’t have feelings.
She closed her eyes. She felt the water move in particular motions. Her smile returned.
Back to the hunt.
