Chapter Text
It was weird to feel so content.
Zoey hadn't felt this way in a long time. She was cuddled up in-between Rumi and Mira, there were snacks all over (Zoey's favorites of course) and they were watching a compilation of short turtle videos.
Zoey smiled and laughed as she watched the turtles minder around without a thought in their minds or a care in the world. Occasionally Zoey would spout out a turtle fun fact.
“Did you know that, like flamingos, turtles get their greenish color because of what they eat?”
Zoey says excitedly, one arm pointed at the screen and the other wrapped around Rumi. Mira smiles and presses a kiss to Zoey's cheek who giggles in response.
“And turtles date back to over 200 million years ago! Isn't that cool?”
Pulling her arm back in Zoey leans into Rumi more subconsciously looking for affirmation.
“Whoa, so they're like living dinosaurs?"
Rumi says glancing back at the screen to let that process.
“Yeah! Like crocodiles!"
If Zoey had a tail it would be wagging, instead she pulls the other two girls closer to her, trying to squish herself between them. If she could she would melt into their warmth forever.
Mira pops another chip into her mouth, smiling at their youngest member. Looking closer Mira realized she recognized the outfit Zoey was wearing.
“Is that my shirt?"
Mira asks, raising an eyebrow at Zoey whose eyes go wide.
"What? No- look at Rumi!’
Looking at Rumi, Mira realizes that she is also wearing her shirt. Sighing, the eldest drops her head onto Zoeys shoulder in exasperation.
“Et tu Brute?"

Eventually Zoey had fallen asleep on the couch between the two other girls.
Rumi must have carried them both to bed because while Mira was dead asleep Rumi was nowhere to be found.
Wandering out into the kitchen Zoey quickly spots the purple haired girl. She watches from the doorway as Rumi grabs some stray bread from one of the cabinets and heads to the living room.
Following her silently Zoey peeks into the next room and watches as Rumi sets the bread down on the floor before sitting down. From the darkness of the room two huge yellow eyes open.
Zoey at this point is both spooked and intrigued, Rumi's calm attitude preventing her from taking any offensive action.
In the end she's glad she didn't as she sees a giant tiger step out from the darkness slowly, a similar thoughtless attitude to it as the turtles they were watching earlier.
She starts to smile as it lazily gathers the bread on the floor in its mouth before chewing slowly. As it continues to eat Rumi brings a hand out and starts to pet it.
Deciding it was time to ask what's up Zoey sneaks up behind Rumi before leaning over her and whispering.
“Hi!"
Zoey watches in delight as Rumi screeches, falling away from her. The cat slowly moves his head up to face her, one eye rolling to her and the other one not quite looking in the right direction.
A huge smile on her face Zoey leans down and offers her hand out to the cat seeing how it reacts (Mira later tells her that that was a terrible idea and her hand could have been bitten off). The cat slowly leans forward and rests its cheek in her palm.
Zoey squeaks in excitement at the development not even paying attention as Mira bursts out of Rumi's room, weapon raised and Rumi who had finally caught her breath was once again scared shitless.
“WHAT IS GOING ON?!?"
Mira yells, waving her weapon around, eyes wide. Seeing as Rumi is out of commission on the floor Zoey decides to answer for her.
“Look at this cat Rumi has!!!!"
Zoey tilts his head further up so he and Mira could see each other, in turn the cat's tongue lolls out in a derpy smile.
“He's so derpy! We should name him Derpy!"
Mira looks increasingly more confused with every word that comes out of Zoey's mouth. Before she was able to question further both girls are interrupted by a blur of black rushing through their vision.
They watch as the blur lands on top of Derpy’s head revealing itself to be a six eyed bird with a top hat. Zoey, who is very excited to see this development, smiles wider and looks back at Mira.
“Look at his top hat!"
Zoey whispers so as to not disturb the bird. Mira looks around one more time to make sure there wasn't any more danger and puts her weapon away. Walking forward Mira crouches next to Zoey to get a closer look at the two animals.
“It is a nice top hat."
Mira comments, reaching out to touch the bird who pecks her. Rumi slowly gets up from the floor, taking a headcount to make sure that there was no one left to jumpscare her before making her way over to the other two.
“Yeah they were Jinu’s, they only really show up during the night so I was waiting for us all to be around to introduce them."
"I love them so much!!!”
Zoey says rubbing the cat's cheeks in circles, watching his face contorted in a jellylike manner.
Rumi crouches down behind Zoey hugging her from behind.
"Yeah I thought you'd like them.”
Rumi says with a smile, the younger girl leaning back into her.
"As fun as I think petting zoos are, it's the middle of the night and we should all be getting back to sleep.”
Mira says neutrally looking away from the animals.
“Aw, are you jealous, Mira?"
Rumi responds, looking up at the taller girl. Mira scoffs, grabbing the collar of Rumi's shirt and pulling her up off the floor.
"Jealous of a cat and a bird? Absolutely not, just sleepy.”
"Its ok to say if you want some extra cuddles Mira!”
Zoey says standing up with them. Mira rolls her eyes but they can both see the small smile on her face. They all link hands as Mira drags them all back to Rumi's bedroom. They all fall into the bed giggling and soon slide into a comfortable sleep.
•••
Zoey had been writing lyrics non-stop for the past two hours.
What could she say, she was on a roll.
She didn't notice as the door creaked open slowly or as a tired Mira shuffled into her room, Zoey was too lost in the imaginary beat in her head and the flow of the lyrics on her page.
She didn't stop writing until her rolly chair spun around and Mira threw herself into Zoey's lap.
“I missed youuuu."
Mira whines into Zoeys chest. Zoey feels her heart melt in that moment, Mira had sought her out, had missed her enough to come find her. Zoey wraps her arms around Mira and rests her head on the girl's head.
Normally Mira would sit taller than Zoey on her lap but Mirai also currently had horrible posture and was curled into a C shape, allowing Zoey to temporarily be taller than her.
They stayed like that in the chair for what seemed like forever, Zoey's neck started to cramp but she wouldn't dare move from this position.
They continued like that until her door creaked open again, revealing Rumi. Rumi had spent all day at a photoshoot for her new more revealing outfits and all three of the girls knew how exasperating the photoshoots could be.
Without a word Rumi wheels Zoey’s chair over to her bed before dumping both girls onto it. Quickly stripping off her photoshoot clothes Rumi jumps into the bed with the two of them.
Both of the girls curl around Zoey on both sides, each claiming an arm and a leg.
As the three of them started to fade into sleep Zoey smiled at her girls. She was so grateful for them.
“I love you both."
She whispered into the night, not expecting a response from her tired girlfriends.
“Mm love you too Zo-"
