Will fell asleep tangled up with Nico at some point, but Nico couldn’t close his eyes with the storm still raging outside. It was impressive how long this was lasting considering the camp’s climate control. Nico clung to Will, fully wrapping his arms and legs around Will’s torso beneath him. He only let himself do this because they were alone and Will wasn’t awake to see how soft he had gone.
Will woke up when he felt his boyfriend weighing down on his chest. It was hard to breathe with Nico there even though the skinny emo kid only weighed maybe a hundred ten pounds. Nico didn’t seem to notice that Will woke up yet since his head was resting on Will’s shoulder facing away towards the wall. Nico’s state didn’t go unnoticed by his boyfriend though, Will could tell that Nico was struggling to sleep even with the cuddles. It was too quiet when Will slept, there was no good distraction for Nico to be content awake or enough peace to fall asleep, but Will had a solution for that.
Will moved Nico off his chest so he could breathe easier and looked in his boyfriend’s eyes. “You know it’s not good for you to stay up the whole night. I could help you if you’re struggling.”
Nico adjusted, less clingy now that he knew Will was awake. Sometimes he wished he could just be less self conscious around showing his boyfriend affection, but he couldn’t force that. “How?”
Will answered that by humming, his hair starting to glow, acting as Nico’s personal nightlight.
“Oh so I can’t overuse shadow travel but it’s okay when you do your glow in the dark thing all night?” Nico smiles, touched by the gesture despite how he teased Will for it.
“I promise I won’t overdo it, it’s just until you fall asleep.” Will says, though he has no intention of keeping that promise. He would do anything for Nico, and besides, overworking himself was nothing a Kit Kat and some rest would fix. So he stroked Nico’s hair until he fell asleep, and stayed awake watching his sleeping boyfriend as he continued being a dutiful nightlight.
