Chapter Text
namjoon was about to press the password to his house when his phone rang and finding out it was seokjin calling him.
“hello?” greeted namjoon as he took off his shoes— voice unable to hide the delighted tone.
”want to come and be a guinea pig?”
”wow, straight to the point. is that all i am now?”
namjoon could hear the other line stifling a laugh and honestly, namjoon had been missing this for the past week. it was safe to say that the sashimi night developed into something more, albeit it was still hard for namjoon to pinpoint where they were but it was all going smooth.
it had been a little over a month. a time filled with a subtle flirting and knowing gazes but still a heck lot of playful bickering. it seemed like that would always be their dynamic already and frankly, namjoon enjoyed it a lot too.
there was a steadily growing amount of times namjoon paid a visit to sugar and whisk. sometimes it would be a quick stop by at the stores, either for a quick chit chat with seokjin or a take away of desserts— to which up until this day, seokjin still refused to let him properly pay for what it was worth. there was a lot of nights where he would come nearing the closing hours so he could help around but most of the times, he would spend time with seokjin eating from a take away food, talking about their days, gossiping on clients or customers and also a lot of learning to understand who seokjin really was as a person.
the other staff at sugar and whisk had gotten used to his presence at the store and knew him well. they didn’t miss the chance to tease their boss and namjoon at every chance they got.
”kidding. have you gotten home well?”
”yeah, i just did,” said namjoon as he dragged his luggage together with him. he had just returned from a week of business trip and he missed seokjin a lot.
”okay then,” ended seokjin, seemingly like he was about to hang up the call too.
this got namjoon lifting his brows and quickly said, “that’s it?”
”yeah, that’s it. were you expecting something else?”
“guinea pig,” namjoon replied instantly and seokjin burst out laughing then namjoon realized a little too late that he walked right into seokjin’s trap. seokjin could be heard still laughing to his heart's content and there was a lot of movement and a sheepish sorry before hearing a door shut behind. namjoon could guess that he just made seokjin laugh in the middle of a busy store.
“okay, my personal taste taster. want to come over tonight?”
”you played me right into it,” groaned namjoon. “have you eaten dinner? want me to bring anything?”
”i ate with jeongguk earlier. just bring your empty stomach. you don’t have to rush. i still need to close the shop and you once mentioned that you want to sit in if i ever do rnd so here is me inviting you.”
”basically a guinea pig,” namjoon concluded.
seokjin laughed once more and followed by, ”see you.”
spring was approaching. namjoon vividly still remembered the cold winter morning when he first stepped into sugar and whisk. a lot of things had changed for the better. the neon light was off and he was met with all of seokjin’s staff that were clocking out.
”oh, namjoon hyung!” jeongguk greeted him. “you are back?”
namjoon nodded and jeongguk slid beside him to whisper, “glad to see you are back. any more days you are gone, seokjin hyung is going to drive us nuts.”
that tiny tip off got namjoon amused and he glanced at seokjin who was busy taking a phone call. “what happened?”
”he had grown moody over the past week. none of the things seemed to be alright in his eyes. strangely that only happened when you left for the business trip,” said jeongguk. “i wonder why,” with a pat on namjoon’s shoulder.
the rest of them bid goodbye, leaving seokjin and namjoon alone in sugar and whisk. namjoon made sure to lock the door so that no strangers would suddenly barge in after closing hours.
“hi,” namjoon greeted once he saw seokjin got off the phone.
“hi,” breathed seokjin, looking a bit nervous and unlike himself that it got namjoon arching his brow.
seokjin looked to be wandering around, unsure of the task that he needed to do. he placed his phone on the counter then picked it up again, only to place it on another side. seokjin glanced nervously at namjoon then said, “come in.”
they walked behind the door that namjoon often saw seokjin disappear into but had never explored inside. the baking station was spacious, looking neat and silky clean from the cleaning they did before ending the day. namjoon expected they would work in the spacious open area but instead there was another station tucked in the corner room.
”this was my personal working station. the place i would usually play around with recipes or when i want to bake quietly. it’s also the place where i’m allowed to get it messy and use all the tools. the baking station is separated because there is a certain protocol i must keep to ensure the food safety and hygiene,” explained seokjin and namjoon scanned around the room, fascinated by the completeness of tools that seokjin had displayed.
namjoon could take hours to pour his curiosity and nag seokjin with all the questions about baking but there was something else he needed to urgently settle first.
he could see seokjin shifting on his steps and then approached him gently, pulling him to sit together on the high stool and gently asked, “what’s going on, hm?”
“hm?” seokjin perked up, “what do you mean?”
”you are nervous. you keep wandering around and get jittery. is everything okay?”
”i’m okay. everything is perfect.”
”seokjin,” namjoon called his name tenderly, “we don’t have to do this if you are uncomfortable. we can go back outside and eat a take out box like we usually do.”
seokjin huffed out a breath and lowered his gaze instead of answering namjoon. namjoon added more, “i have never seen you like this and you’re worrying me.”
namjoon moved to hold seokjin’s hand in his and circling a soothing touch on the back of his hand.
”i guess i’m being so nervous.”
”about what?”
”showing you everything. my personal work space and more.”
”then we don’t have to do it if you aren’t ready.”
”no, please don’t get me wrong. i want to show you. i want you to be a part of it. i guess a tiny part of me is scared to let you really see how i work. what if you don’t like what i make or what if you realize that i’m actually not as great as you think.”
namjoon released a shaky breath, relieved to finally hear the cause of seokjin’s action. he moved to tilt seokjin’s chin so they could stare into each other, “from the moment i have tried any of your creations, i have never doubted the talent you have. i love everything you make and my admiration for the effort you put has just grown over time. i have seen you paying for such small details just to make sure all your customers are receiving the same quality so never doubt yourself like that ever again, seokjin-ah.”
”besides, rnd literally stands for research and development. you are doing countless trials and errors to perfect the menu you create from scratch. mistakes are bound to happen but this is why you are spending hours, racking through your brains and energy to bring a lot of joy to people. understand?”
seokjin slowly nodded.
”chin up. where is the seokjin that would yell at me because i almost dumped hundreds grams of salt into cookie dough?”
seokjin chuckled upon remembering it and bat namjoon’s hand away, “you should be grateful that i saved you from a high blood pressure cookie.”
”to my defense, sugar and salt look similar. they are both white,” said namjoon, anything to make seokjin feel better.
”how in the world you couldn’t differentiate them?”
”years of baking and you are saying you have never made that honest mistake? kim seokjin, you are telling lies,” namjoon eyed him suspiciously.
seokjin contemplated for a short moment, “okay, fine. i did.”
”ha! see?”
“but that was years when i first started to bake and i have learned from my mistakes. i start smelling all ingredients before putting them in and labeling my containers in different colours.”
”you and your reasons. i can never win them,” namjoon chuckled fondly. “okay, so what are we tasting today?”
“i was going through the sugar and whisk menu then i realized we don’t have any chocolate cake. do you know how huge betrayal is this? a dessert shop without my own ultimate chocolate cake? i must be nuts,” rambled seokjin as he pulled opened the fridge to bring out a few cake samples labelled in numbers.
“i have baked chocolate cakes several times in my life but it was never the perfect recipe so i spent the past week making one.”
namjoon was handed forks by seokjin, gesturing him to quickly dig in. the samples were all made in small portions, looking similar yet different at the same time. namjoon tried the first one, enjoying the taste and hummed in approval.
”hmm, this one is good. light, airy but i don’t think the chocolate essence is hitting enough.”
seokjin listened attentively and jotted down some notes in his books, personal research book namjoon assumed. “how about this one?” and was pushed with container number 2 with a brand new fork.
judging by the appearance, the cake sponge and cream was a lot darker than the first sample. namjoon’s brows shot up in surprise, stunned by the taste and turned to seokjin. “wow, what’s happening? the taste is totally different now.”
“you like it?” asked seokjin in a grin.”i changed into the dutch processed cocoa powder, it is more intense in flavor and darker in colour.”
”yes, a lot better. you are seriously amazing,” said namjoon as he served himself another bite.
“stop eating this one. i got more and you will be full before you know it.”
”how does it get better than this?”
“try comparing with sample three,” seokjin nudged.
namjoon froze mid-chew from the new discovery, “did you put chocolate chunks into the cake?”
seokjin nodded, pleased with the sharp sense of taste and judgement that namjoon had.
”the cake just becomes more gooey and ugh, i hate how amazing this is,” said namjoon and he never put down the fork.
”i actually have another set of samples but i haven’t got time to assemble the cake because it was still cooling down. give me a minute and try if this is better,” said seokjin as he pulled out a bowl with the other ingredients.
seokjin immediately got busy with mixing some powders. namjoon sat beside to wait while he watched seokjin worked his magic, “do you always do rnd at night?”
”not always but most of the time. i find myself working the best at this hour and it is a lot more peaceful. morning usually would be filled with a lot of calls and texts to reply so it messes up with my focus.”
”and you are always tasting all these amazing things at night?”
seokjin laughed lightly and looked at namjoon incredulously before switching on his mixer, “i need to try them so i can know what to improve. who else is eating them if it’s not me.”
”so you are saying even after all those sweets in the middle of the night, you still manage to keep your sculpture-like shape?” yelled namjoon in disbelief to fight the loud mixer noise.
seokjin barked out a loud laugh and stopped his mixer, “what did you say?”
“seriously, how do you even stay in shape? i’m putting on some weights after all those cakes and pastries.”
”you are saying that i have a sculpture-like feature?”
“come on, don’t pretend like this is the first time you hear people praising you. you know how you look,” namjoon rolled his eyes.
seokjin stepped closer to namjoon and stared at him in the eyes, “i’m well aware how i look but hearing such flattering words from you is totally different.”
”i wasn’t sugar coating any of it. you are really handsome which is more unfair because you bake and eat cake for a living but you got this body.”
seokjin batted his lashes, “really?”
”yes. so how do you do it?” asked namjoon, seemingly unaware of the flirting attempt seokjin was trying to make— too keen to know what kind of workout and diet plan seokjin was implementing.
seokjin huffed in annoyance, mentally slapping himself for falling little by little for this oblivious goofball. he punched namjoon in the arm as revenge. “do you think kitchen work is an easy task? there is a lot of daily arm workout here. these muscles are made from years of laminating croissants.”
“but don’t worry. you still look cute even after all those sweets i’m feeding you,” added seokjin with a wink before he got back to whipping his buttercream.
the remaining time namjoon stayed quiet, admiring seokjin spreading the cream onto the cakes, skillfully turning the spatula like his second nature. seokjin probably didn’t even realize it but he got an adorable habit of scrunching his nose when he tended to get absorbed in his work.
the cake was finished off with a round of dark chocolate shaving and seokjin turned the cake standee slightly to make it spin before presenting his brand new baby, “tadaaaa.”
“here you go,” seokjin slid the first slice of cake to namjoon. “i have no idea how this tastes. i literally wrote the recipe this morning so just hit me with your brutal opinion.”
namjoon hovered the fork in front of his lips, peeking an eye at seokjin that was waiting for him to taste and caught the reaction. seokjin nibbled nervously at his lips, gawking worriedly when namjoon didn’t give away any expression.
namjoon stared at the cake on his plate before let out a long drawn moan, pupils dilated and repetitive approval nods, “this is it. you have made your own ultimate chocolate cake.”
“are you playing tricks on me?”
”seokjin, there is no coming back from this. how could it get this moist, perfectly balanced sweetness and bitterness in one bite?”
seokjin took a bite for himself and hummed in satisfaction when he realized this was what he was looking for.
“wow,” namjoon exclaimed over and over again with a series of low cursing, nearly finishing the first slice. “what in the black magic.”
”do you want to know what i put in here that's different from the other samples?”
”what?”
”mayonaisse.”
”the fuck? are you serious?”
seokjin nodded, “you will be surprised that it was more common than you think in recipes. it was added just enough that you can’t ever taste it and become the key in creating that moist cake. i also mixed espresso with stout to kick the chocolate flavor.”
“whatever it is, i can only say this is the best.”
”so the earl gray cake has been dethroned?”
”uhm,” namjoon gave it a deep thought, “nope. they are on par. one is delightful in all its lightness and this one is full of depth and richness. you can’t make them compete.”
“i know i shouldn’t do this but can i please get another slice?” the pleading and innocent tone set seokjin off and he sliced another one for namjoon.
seokjin gazed at namjoon fondly, “every time you praise what i make, i always wonder what kind of dessert they have been feeding you your entire life, that such a sweet tooth like you were once a dessert-hater.”
”honestly i don’t know. none of it could ever taste close like how you do it.”
”skill is one thing but finding the right ingredients will change the entire taste. you would never want to eat any dessert with artificial sweetener in them.”
namjoon nodded in understanding and he remembered something, “by the way, i was told that someone was being moody and a handful to handle?”
seokjin stored back the remaining cake samples into the fridge for the others to try tomorrow and snickered, “tsked, such tattletales. did something like that happen?”
”yes, i heard so. nothing seemed right they said and kept throwing tantrums, commenting on a lot of cake decorations that were already perfect.”
“oh yeah? i can’t recall such things.”
”it is even weirder that the particular person who is usually not a picky eater suddenly refused to eat the food like the others and insisted only eating certain food he recently had.”
seokjin hummed and pretended like he was entertaining the conversation. he made a mental note to cut jeongguk’s salary next month for being such a snitch.
“strangely, they say, it only happened while i was away. i wonder why.”
”yes, indeed. i wonder why too, namjoon-ssi,” replied seokjin with a roll of his eyes, although namjoon couldn’t see it because he was still busy cleaning the station.
”wait, so we are back to honorifics?”
”i think it’s more fitting that way because you can be such a giant clueless teddy bear.”
“am i? when was i?”
”yes, you namjoon-ssi,” seokjin highlighted the honorifics more and squeezed the wet clothes with all his strength. ”did a week of spending time overseas somehow lower your intelligence?”
”i believe it is functioning at its best condition,” shrugged namjoon but deep down he was about to break out of character, too amused at the frustration seokjin was showing.
”ugh, figure it out by yourself,” and he slapped down the wet clothes to clean the countertop.
“come on, seokjin-ssi. are you sure you don’t have something to tell me?”
”nope.”
”your face is saying another thing.”
”my face is filled with nothing but a handsome look.”
“that’s true but your ears are giving away. it is all red now,” namjoon leaned forward to give it a soft flick and seokjin gasped in surprise at the sudden touch, consciously covering his ears and he could indeed feel it all warm.
namjoon laughed out loud, feeling pleased to be the reason seokjin was reacting this way. seokjin groaned, throwing the damped clothes at namjoon to which he caught it easily.
”do you know that you are such a pain in the ass?”
the frustrated response made namjoon cackled even more and he was having a quick internal debate and decisively took this conversation into an entirely different direction before replying. “i wouldn’t be so sure as i’m not that knowledgeable in that part.”
it got seokjin tilted his head, trying to understand what namjoon was saying.
namjoon smirked and leaned forward to whisper into the night, “because i have only ever given pleasure. unless you like it rough.”
seokjin continued to stare at him and as soon as it sunk in, a bright shade of red creeped all over his neck and he gaped before retorting a series of flustered words, “kim namjoon, you better come here. you did not j—.”
”hold up. not so quick. what are you trying to do?” it was now namjoon’s turn to look scared when he saw seokjin turning on the faucet and ready to spray some water at namjoon.
he barely managed to make an escape to the other side of the room and turned into a battle of who would give up first. seokjin eventually turned off the faucet when he realised that he might be making a whole mess that he had to own up in the end and yielded in.
realising that it was already safe from the threat, namjoon trailed behind seokjin and caught the right moment to cage him between namjoon’s hands that rested against the countertop. “i missed you,” putting an end to his teasing to confess first.
”i have always known that my face is unforgettable,” seokjin retorted back.
namjoon shook his head fondly, pride would always get in between their steps, “even after me saying this, you are still not going to say something?”
”i told you i got nothing to say. get away from my face,” followed by a punch that namjoon blocked with his hand. namjoon uncurled the fist and held the hand tenderly in his, slowly feeling it in between his grasp.
“seokjin-ah.”
seokjin suddenly turned quiet, sensing the change of mood. namjoon took the time to admire seokjin’s hand, it was considerably a large hand but somehow in namjoon’s hand they turned tiny yet fit perfectly against each other. even after all years of working in the kitchen, the hand remained soft.
this time namjoon held seokjin’s gaze and smiled, “go on a date with me.”
seokjin titled his head cutely and namjoon giggled lightly. “a proper dinner. outside. allow me to wine and dine you the way you deserve, sweetheart.”
seokjin diverted his gaze, intensified by the tender look namjoon was giving him and he hardly could breath from the endearing nickname namjoon just casually added one like it wasn’t a big deal— as if it did not send seokjin’s heart thumping loudly and awakened the butterflies in him.
”seokjin, you really gotta give me something here, hm,” namjoon pleaded in desperation, gently nudging seokjin’s chin to look him in the eyes again.
”fine, only because you ask so nicely,” seokjin finally said and namjoon breathed again, he didn’t realize he was holding it. he ignored the playful snarky comment seokjin added, knowing full well he was trying to cover the awkwardness. “you must know that i am not easy to impress.”
“oh, don’t you worry. i don’t think that will be difficult at all.”
when the city was finally asleep and heart was a little braver, seokjin finished doing round checks at the shop to make sure all things were turned off and safe, he noticed namjoon leaning against the cake display counter, scrolling through his phone and typing for a short while that seokjin could guess must be replying his clients’ email.
”namjoon-ah.”
”hmm? ready to go?” namjoon balanced his stance, preparing himself to leave together.
“just so you know, big guy.”
namjoon stopped typing to give seokjin, who was standing quite a few metres away, a proper look, “what is it?”
”i missed you a lot.”
and seokjin watched the smile that gradually grew brighter— so bright that it lit up seokjin’s universe.

namjoon parked by the roadside, sending a text to seokjin to let him know that he had already arrived while he waited in the car. they were finally going on that date that seokjin promised him, found themselves an evening within the next few days that happened to be seokjin’s day off on a rare weekend but somehow seokjin ended up clocking in to work this afternoon to discuss some upcoming collaboration menu launch.
minutes later seokjin walked out from the alley, eyes scanning around to spot namjoon, and he took his time to appreciate how good seokjin looked from his car. he had seen seokjin a lot in casual looks but no one warned him of the danger seokjin could bring with a neat business look.
he took the time to style his hair up, dressed in white shirt with a loosened top button tucked into black slacks and dress shoes with the hands that remained in his pockets as he walked. everything about him screamed attractive and namjoon could hardly hold himself back.
namjoon honked lightly, catching his attention and seokjin carefully looked into the car to check the person inside. he approached once recognizing namjoon and slid into the seat. this would be the first time namjoon drove seokjin around.
”ohh, fancy,” praised seokjin as soon as he saw the interior of the car. namjoon laughed at the greeting.
”judging from the tone, i suppose the date is off to a great start then?”
seokjin made himself comfortable and pulled the seatbelt to secure himself, “i know a great taste when i see one. a man that picks up his date, choose himself a good car and a watch on his wrist. that's the definition of sexy.”
“look at you, such a smooth talker.”
”don’t get ahead of yourself. you still have the promise to impress me for the rest of the night.”
the two arrived just in time as the golden hour disappeared and they found their way into another side of the city, that was secluded and private. seokjin checked the area, knew where exactly he was and he asked namjoon in surprise yet unable to hide the giddiness in his tone, “is it this one? how did you even manage to get a reservation here?”
“a man got his own secret,” winked namjoon. “i know people inside and they helped me to put in my name.”
”first date and you are already bringing me to omakase? what if i keep asking this for every future date?” seokjin whispered to namjoon as they walked inside and were assisted by the staff when namjoon mentioned his reservation.
namjoon smirked hearing that, “already thinking of the second one when the first hasn’t even really started?”
”a man can dream, namjoon-ah.”
”no issue if all future dates require an omakase. i would suggest you to get started with the list of places to visit.”
“shouldn’t be that hard. on the other hand, big guy, your wallet should get ready for it.”
namjoon whispered his response to seokjin, so close that he could smell the soft flowery scent from seokjin. “don’t worry, sweetheart. i make more than enough to support all your expensive taste.”
seokjin couldn’t hide his big smile, thrilled by the chef that was explaining the theme of tonight's dinner and started showcasing all the fresh ingredients they would be having. namjoon sipped his champagne, thoroughly relieved to know he had made the right choice and he glanced sideways— just in time to catch the beam on seokjin’s face.
namjoon had come to fairly few omakase treated by his clients and he had never really liked the experience, mainly too focused on talking about business but this— namjoon wanted to keep whatever they were doing right now, it brought him a great joy to see seokjin was having fun and sitting close like this side by side gave namjoon access to admire his side profile while he kept talking.
they arrived at the dessert after many courses of meal that got namjoon overwhelmed by the amount of food. the chef served a yuzu mousse cake, shaped exactly like the fruit that fooled namjoon for a moment.
“thank you for bringing me here. i had so much fun, just eating, sipping champagne and talking with you,” said seokjin with so much sincerity that sounded unlike the dynamic they usually had.
namjoon teased him, “what? already swooned after one date?”
”your confidence one day will get you hurt, namjoon-ah,” seokjin played along with him.
”how do you eat this?” asked namjoon, unsure what he should do with this beautiful dessert presentation.
seokjin moved his plate a little closer and showed namjoon, “crack the cake with the spoon and you will start seeing the mouse and bit of cake.”
”fascinating,” commented namjoon as he took a bite.
”how is it?”
“good,” nodded namjoon but the reaction got seokjin furrowed his brows. seokjin had seen namjoon eating a lot of desserts from sugar and whisk but he always expressed it with his entire face— looking almost mad whenever the sugary goodness entered his mouth.
seokjin leaned sideways, adjusting his voice just enough for namjoon to hear, “you don’t like it?”
namjoon turned his head slightly to whisper back, too close that it got his lips accidentally brushing against seokjin’s ears, “too tangy, i don’t know what the yuzu skin is made from but it is too sweet.”
the feedback got seokjin even more confused that he took another bite, “i think they do quite a good job. kim namjoon, what’s wrong with your taste?”
namjoon sighed, took his third bite of the cake and decided he had had enough. “i don’t know. i don’t like anything else aside from what you make. i guess yours have ruined my palate for good.”
”not even going to finish it?”
”don’t think can stomach it anymore.”
seokjin bit down on his lips, thoughts circling inside his head. he patted namjoon, “come on, let’s go. i will make you something.”
🍰ᢉ𐭩🧁
“come in, just put on any slippers you want,” said seokjin as he unlocked the door to his apartment.
namjoon took a small peek at the alley way that led to the entire well designed apartment and chuckled, “kim seokjin, such a sly fox. you own an apartment this nice and you are trying to get more omakase meals out of me?”
”free food is free food, namjoon-ah. i was raised well by my mother.”
namjoon trailed behind seokjin that was already heading to his kitchen. honestly when seokjin mentioned that he was going to bake something, he had expected them to go to the shop and stay in the kitchen but this was definitely better— having known that seokjin felt comfortable enough to share his personal space.
”this is off the menu and i have only made this for myself to eat or my friends occasionally. not sure if you like lava cake,” said seokjin as his hands were busy opening the cupboard to take the essentials.
”never tried that but there is always a first time for everything.”
namjoon walked by and happened to see the contents of seokjin’s fridge— eyes bulking in surprise. “is your fridge always this empty or you haven’t gone on your grocery shopping.”
”it has always been empty like that,” said seokjin in between his laugh, caught in embarrassment.
“what the hell are you eating for your meals?”
seokjin pointed to the restaurant flyers that were stuck on a small board, “the world has become convenient. they deliver everything at any hour now.”
”you never cook in this kitchen?”
seokjin preheated the oven and started cracking eggs, “ever if you consider boiling water, frying eggs and instant noodles cooking.”
namjoon pulled the chair around the countertop to sit across seokjin in disbelief, “but you are a patissier.”
seokjin rolled his eyes at namjoon, “baking and cooking are never the same thing. just because i bake, it doesn’t necessarily mean i’m a great cook and vice versa. common misconception you have right there.”
“have you ever tried cooking before?”
”many times and that’s as many times i cook horribly too. cooking is so complicated. like why does the tutorial always tell me to eyeball it?”
namjoon barked out a laugh, amused by this unexpected charm that he had just discovered.
“do you cook at home?” asked seokjin.
”a little, not like some kind of fine dining chef level. i can make basic home cooked meals and that’s enough to get me through my living alone lifestyle. usually i unwind by cooking a warm meal after work,” shared namjoon, slowly learning more about one another.
seokjin whipped up the dessert so quickly, pushing the tray into the oven within the minutes they talked. the cake was flipped onto a plate and topped with cold vanilla ice cream that seokjin pulled out from his fridge. they sat side by side and seokjin handed over one spoon to namjoon, “here.”
“isn’t it hot from the oven?”
”best eaten warm and cold together.”
namjoon carefully took a bite, afraid of burning the roof of his mouth and there it was, the expression that seokjin adored so much whenever namjoon ate his dessert— jaw dropping in stun and brows pinched together as if he was mad to eat something this good then he would start singing praises.
”best experience ever. see? i told you you have ruined me.”
elbow propped on the table and head rested on his hand, seokjin watched namjoon loving every bite of the cake. “an omakase meal and a dessert personally made by the rising star patissier kim seokjin. there is no better way than ending the date this way, isn’t it?”
”i doubt it,” namjoon disagreed and stopped eating, “on second thought, i don’t really like this dessert.”
“what?” seokjin abruptly stood up in surprise, glancing at the plate that was already half eaten and he saw how much namjoon enjoyed it earlier. so what happened to his cake?
“it’s not sweet enough.”
“but you don’t usually like sweet that much.” seokjin scooped himself a bite and examined the flavor. everything was perfect. “this is how i have always made it.”
“it is not sweet enough for me.”
“are you crazy? how sweet again do you want it to be?”
“this sweet,” said namjoon as he slid a hand to the back of seokjin’s neck to pull him into a kiss.
seokjin yelped in surprise, eyes widening as their lips touched. it took him a while to gather himself, to catch up with the moment and he allowed to close his eyes to let himself feel.
namjoon smiled in between kisses when he felt seokjin melted against him, yielding in to the touch and namjoon took the time to learn how seokjin tastes like— sweet from the lips and the chocolate from the cake.
seokjin circled his arms around namjoon, finding ways to connect more. the groan slipped out in frustration when namjoon wanted to hold seokjin even closer, pulling him tight by the waist. they could feel their breath starting to stutter but they couldn’t find it in themselves to stop or take a small break. there were so many words unspoken but for now, this would make do— this was everything they had been suppressing.
namjoon nibbled on seokjin’s soft pillowy lips— finally knowing how it felt against his. seokjin put a little distance, smiling ear to ear and unable to hide the giddiness, teasing namjoon to chase after him for another taste and everytime namjoon leaned in closer, seokjin pulled a little further. he giggled in between— enjoying the push and pull.
realizing that he was being toyed, namjoon put an end to it. he lifted the corner of his lips, carefully watching how seokjin’s expression shifted from a pure delight to a genuine surprise when namjoon held one of seokjin’s leg for leverage and lifted him to sit on the countertop.
even after they were all over each other. namjoon slid seokjin closer, crashing their body and together they moaned in pleasure. seokjin hid his face in the crook of namjoon’s neck.
“now this is the perfect ending i want,” said namjoon to break the silence.
“stop saying embarrassing thing. can’t believe you are this corny,” said seokjin, voice muffled from speaking into his neck. lightly, seokjin could feel the strong pulse pounding in namjoon’s neck.
“seokjin-ah.”
”hm?” he hummed, turning a bit drowsy from being drunk in the moment and body swaying lightly.
namjoon pulled seokjin away from his embrace so he could take a good look. he gently brushed the strand of hair that covered his. “in case you don’t already know, i like you a lot.”
”that day, i didn’t say it then, but you were the most gorgeous one i have ever seen and i still think you are so beautiful. there is something in you that you carry with confidence and know what you are actually good at. i don’t really get anyone arguing with me because they always found it pointless to argue with me as i always win but i find myself losing to you and that losing in argument slowly becomes falling for you. you glow but do you know when you glow the most? when you are baking. the sight of you, pouring your everything into your work and taking the time to craft small details, was breathtaking.”
”i keep finding myself missing you like crazy, i love talking with you, all those late nights eating dinner together becomes something i look forward to a lot and simply spending time silently is fun when it’s with you,” said namjoon as he saw numerous of emotion displayed through seokjin’s face.
seokjin lifted a hand to brush on namjoon’s check. his heart ached. how could a man talk so beautifully like this and worship him like he was everything. this was the man that took the extra length to take care of seokjin,
“since when do you talk this well? you got me speechless, namjoon-ah. this time i couldn’t win your argument. i lost and i will keep willingly let myself get lost in you,” seokjin said softly and he leaned down to give namjoon a chaste kiss— short but sweet.
”i like you a lot too, big guy,” and that was everything namjoon needed to hear.
he surged forward, taking seokjin into a bruising kiss. forget about slow, this was battling against time to catch up for all the missed moments. this was rougher, greedier and the urgency to taste more and more. he couldn’t get enough of seokjin— not after he knew what he tasted like.
a hand flies out to grip onto his shirt— seeking for more. without breaking their kiss, namjoon secured seokjin’s legs around his waist, lifting him up off the counter in one single swoop and made their way around slowly.
the temperature in the apartment rose and body turned heated. namjoon got seokjin pressed against the couch— hardly any space was found between them. the kiss explored and slid to the neck, teasing the skin there by pulling before blowing a soft kiss that triggered seokjin even more.
”baby,” seeming to want to catch his attention but the endearing term only got seokjin melted under him even further. seokjin’s impatient hands touched everywhere, any way to get himself to be closer to namjoon.
“talk to me,” taking a brief break to make seokjin focus on him, “come on, baby, you have to let me know what you want.”
”namjoon-ah,” sounding breathless and completely gone when namjoon grinded against him.
”hm? what do you need?”
”anything. just anything, namjoon-ah.”
namjoon chuckled lowly hearing that and teased, “careful, baby. you shouldn’t surrender yourself so easily like this to me.”
seokjin shuddered when he felt a hand sneaked into underneath his shirt and let his body got familiar with the touch. the cold finger brushed on his sensitive area and he twitched, numerous moans in pleasure escaped involuntarily from him. it was even worse with the persistent grind on him.
he could feel it coming but he hardly could speak, “namjoon-ah, i t-think i—,”
namjoon’s brows shot up in surprise, “already? just from this?”
”namjoon,” he chanted like a prayer
”senstive much, baby? it’s okay. let it go,” he whispered right into the ears, adding more stimulation and the bite on the ear finally triggered it, “i got you.”
namjoon smiled in satisfaction, boosting with pride from seeing seokjin coming undone just from his fleeting touches. seokjin dazed for minutes, staring at the ceiling before covering his face with his arm when it caught up to him. he couldn’t believe he just spilled himself like some teenager.
“earth to seokjin?”
even when he wasn’t looking at him, seokjin could hear the satisfaction and smugness in the tone. namjoon gently pulled him to sit up, took a glance and pecked seokjin in the mouth, “beautiful.”
”have you always been such a smooth sweet talker?” asked seokjin, barely able to hold the smile that stretched across his face.
”cheeks turning into a beautiful shade of blush because of me and you expect me to be normal about it?”
seokjiin punched namjoon in the stomach and he pretended to double over from the pain. “how about you?” asked seokjin and namjoon fully understood he was referring to the hard on he was still having.
”it’s okay, i will be fine,” namjoon reassured, not wanting to put any pressure on the other. afterall, this wasn’t in the agenda tonight. “you know i’m a gentleman that’s taking it easy on the first date.”
seokjin barked out a laugh— blown by the shamelessness after everything he did to seokjin. seokjin crawled a bit to drop himself on namjoon’s laps, catching the groan of frustration that he made from the contact, “too late. what if i say the final dessert for tonight is me?”
“you better not regret this,” said namjoon as he stared at seokjin, who kept getting bolder and pushing his limits.
”my treat,” seokjin said in final and namjoon pulled him to the bedroom with his last straw.
