Chapter Text
The first thing Mirror Matt saw when he opened his eyes was an unfamiliar steel roof. It had pipes and wires running across it, and just in his peripheral vision, he could see hanging lamps. He slowly gained his senses back, first, smell. It smelled… like pizza! Wonderful! Secondly, hearing. It was quiet. It seemed like nobody was around. That gave Mirror Matt a nice break. There was too much going on at Freddy’s recently. Wait! Freddy’s…. Where was he? He sat up, and oh dear god. It wasn’t… quite Freddy’s. It had the same overall vibe, with the same wall decals and patterns and similar enough flooring. The one thing that stood out the most, was the animatronics (can you even call them that?) on stage. Their silhouettes were familiar, but they weren’t the animatronics Mirror Matt was familiar with. The one on the right was a tall, chunky yellow bear. He had a purple hat and bowtie, and a microphone. On the left, was… Afton?!
Wait, no, that’s not Afton. It was a yellow, slim rabbit. It also had a purple tie, but carried a banjo.
“Welcome! You must be the new hire! NIce to meetcha!” A cheery voice came from behind Mirror Matt, and he spun around in shock. A tan man, with maybe shoulder-length dark brown hair stood behind him.
“...What?” Was this Afton?
“What?” … “Oh! Right! I forgot. Welcome to Fredbear’s Family Diner! You’re a new figment, right?” The man asked. Mirror Matt simply nodded, completely lost.
“New hire?” Another man came up behind him, with very.. Piercing blue eyes and short blonde hair.
“I’m Mirror Matt. Who are you?” Mirror Matt introduced himself, and the blonde haired man snickered.
“Nice name. Matthew’s really running out of ideas.”
“Anyways! I’m Chris! That guy back there is Jason. We’ll help you out on your first day here!”
“Oh, thank god! You didn’t use–”
“Oh, by the way, if anything ever goes wrong, we say #BlameJason here. We blame… Jason. Anyways, let’s get you settled!”
“--never mind.”
“So, usually what we make the new hires do is get them started on Idea Sorting! It’s relatively simple. All you have to do is look at the title of the page or folder, and organise them into the corresponding drawer in the next room over.” Chris explained, pointing to relevant objects as he explained
“Don’t try reading the papers, though. You’ll go nuts.” Jason added, peeking from through a doorframe.
“Eh… why?” Mirror Matt asked, picking up a folder titled ‘ Freddy’s ’
“W-wait, Freddy’s? I was just there!”
“Oh. I bet that wasn’t fun. Matthew must have been talking your ear off.” Jason sighed, rolling into the room the other two were in on an office chair.
“No, he was a bit more worried about rescuing his wife from Afton.” Mirror Matt laughed, and after a few moments of silence, looked up. Chris and Jason were staring at him in horror.
“What?”
“What? What? You just told us Stephanie was in danger! Did she get possessed by him?” Chris gawked, and Mirror Matt nodded in response to the question.
“Is that why we suddenly got an influx of folders about stress and the medicinal qualities of remnant?” Jason muttered, rolling over to a filing cabinet in the distance.
“I could only assume so.” Mirror Matt said, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
“Okay… well… cool, I guess.” Jason hummed, rolling back with a few folders in hand.
“Jason! I told you to stop touching those damn number folders.”
“Sorry! I wanted to test the newbie.”
Ding!
A sound that Mirror Matt could only describe as Woosh echoed throughout the room, and the two managers (he didn’t think they were managers, but they were in his mind) perked up.
“Delivery! I wonder what sick ideas Matthew’s mind has conjured up today…” Jason muttered, rolling over to the source of the sound.
“Awesome! With that, he won’t torture you with the numbers, and instead, make you do those,” Chris smiled, and Mirror Matt furrowed his eyebrows.
“What the heck? Pineapple Torture Ideas?” Jason came back into the filing cabinet room, flailing a folder labeled those exact words.
“Oh boy. You’re in for a doozy, Mirror Matt.” Chris said, and Mirror Matt prayed he could at least find anything funny within the files.
“Okay… page 12, Oh!” Turns out, he did find something. Not funny, but something to push him through the rest of this work.
All the prior pages were a bit out of context, not listing a name for who’s being tortured by pineapples. However;
Sneak pineapples in Ash’s smoothies!!!
“So she’s still kicking, hm? Good for them.” Mirror Matt murmured, and sighed.
At that moment, a fruit fly decided to assault him.
