Chapter Text
BRUCE
Bruce was troubled. To say the least actually. A strange man barged into his house, claimed to be Nico’s father, refused to take him home with him and even said some… questionable things. He was in deep thought over the current matter, practically staring holes into Nico and his supposed father but as much as he tried he couldn’t not see the family resemblance. They were both pale, they had sharp face features but most importantly, they had those eyes. Those deep, black eyes that reminded you of the darkest place you could imagine. A place full of pain and unfairness. Bruce’s thoughts were interrupted by the man answering Richard’s question, and those few words shocked him quite a bit. A deal? What kind of deal? Nico’s father, as if he could read minds continued.
“As I already said, it would be quite difficult for Nico to come home with me right now. That’s why I want you and your family, the Waynes, to give my son a peaceful experience for a few years. A little time away from all the bad things he’s been through. If you could do that for me and give him a proper family I would be immensely grateful to you.” Those words left everyone speechless. Some boys were staring at the mysterious man with wide eyes and Bruce raised his eyebrows at this speech. He also noticed Nico with his mouth gaping open.
“F-father that’s a bit-“ Nico began but was cut off by his father giving him a stern look.
“Nico, I know you might not remember what happened in the past, but you and I both know you have some vague feelings here and there. I also know you care about the Wayne family, so if they’re not opposed to taking care of you for a while, then I’d gladly give you even years off your little job .” Harry turned his head towards Bruce as if asking his thoughts on the matter. Bruce acted like he was thinking it over, but he already decided anyway. He needed Jason to have someone who would get along with him and he also liked having Nico around. All in all, he had no problem with Harry’s suggestion even though it was quite suspicious in a few things, but he could overlook those little details.
“Of course. Is there something I should know about Nico before anything official?” Bruce questioned with a calm tone.
“Nico can’t bear tight spaces and pomegranates and he can tell you anything else he wants you to consider.” Nico’s father glanced at his son with an understanding look before looking back to the billionaire.
“As for any legal procedures it would be best if you listed Nico as an orphan and stated that you adopted him. It would make a lot of things easier for me if you will.” At that, Bruce just nodded and perked up when he saw that the man was about to continue.
“Also, if you’re not too opposed to it, I’d like to send some of my son’s friends over sometimes, so as to help him jog his memory a bit. If that’s not an inconvenience.”
A few of the Waynes looked at him, a little confused.
“Why would that be an inconvenience?” The oldest of Bruce’s sons asked, his head tilted in confusion.
“They can be… a riot for sure” Nico’s dad stated, pausing a bit to try and find the right words to describe the group of teenagers.
“Well, I’m sure it won’t be too much trouble.” Bruce smiled at Nico and his father. After that the tall yet pale man got up, said his goodbye to Nico and walked out the door. Without hearing the door open and shut, much less creak, he was gone. It was as if he disappeared into thin air. The room fell into silence as both the Waynes and Nico were thinking over what had transpired.
“So…” The second oldest of the Waynes started, “that was your pops huh…” Nico just stared at him for a little bit before shaking his head.
“Yes. My father. In the flesh…” The teen grimaced at his own words before running a hand through his hair. He felt a bit overwhelmed so he decided to sign instead of speak.
“I think you guys are gonna regret this. I can already smell the trouble I will get you in” The Waynes only seemed to laugh it off, not taking Nico’s words too seriously. They were soon to regret doing so.
