Chapter Text
Sonic looked at the time on his phone, 8:34. He dropped his phone on the couch and groaned. This was torture. He turned his attention to the tv but it was just some cooking show that only made him hungry even though he ate not too long ago. He grabbed the remote and turned it off. If he just goes to bed early then it will be morning faster, and he won’t be alone. He slid off the couch and his socked feet hit the floor without a thud. No doubt due to his small size. “Just a little bit longer Sonic. You can do this.” He walked around the couch and towards the stairs, but he didn’t know where he was going to sleep tonight. He kinda wanted to sleep on Tom and Maddie’s bed, instead of his own. But he didn’t know if that would make them upset. He has slept there before, but that was with them. So Sonic isn’t too sure if he would be allowed to sleep there without them.
However, before Sonic could make up his mind, the tv turned back on. His ears turned towards the sudden noise, quills raised slightly but once he turned around, his quills dropped. “I thought I turned you off. Oh well. I better go turn you off.” Sonic doesn’t want the electricity bill to be high because he didn’t turn the tv off. He walked back over to the couch and grabbed the remote then hit the power button. The screen turned black. Sonic put the remote down but as he was turning around, the tv shot back to life. Filling up the otherwise silent house. “Hmm.” Sonic turned the tv off once again. He tilted his head as he stared at the black screen for 1 second, 2 seconds, 3. It turned back on. “Come on. You piece of junk.” He clicked the power off button but it didn’t even turn off. “What?” Sonic did not like where this was heading. What if it was one of those hackers? He tried one more time and it turned off. But instead of turning off, the tv screen filled with static, then the channels began to change on their own. “Oh my god…” Sonic saw what the tv stopped on, “The news? I don’t wanna watch that junk.” He clicked the power button and the tv turned off.
“Okay. Just stay off, okay?” He waited for around 10 seconds. Sonic did tell himself he was going to wait a minute but that was too long just standing still. Ten seconds is basically a minute, right? When it didn’t turn back on, Sonic shrugged and headed towards the steps. When all of a sudden, the lights started to flicker. Sonic’s head snapped to where the switch was but no one was there. “That’s odd.” He would go investigate but the switch was pretty high up on the wall and he doesn’t know if he can reach it without a step stool. He made his way to the first step when a putrid smell caused his nose to scrunch up. He really didn’t know how to describe it, but it did come out of nowhere. The smell was completely forgotten when he heard a footstep. His quills bristled and his heartbeat sped up to uncountable speeds. He froze, his triangular blue ears twitched as he listened for anything else, another footstep caught his attention.
“Okay. Okay. No need to panic. Maybe… the wind knocked a window open? No that’s stupid. Okay, you got this. You are Sonic the Hedgehog. Fastest thing in the universe.” After his small pep speech, Sonic crept towards the living room where he heard the sounds. If there was someone, he could just spindash at them… or he could just run away. Probably the latter but nothing is set in stone. He made it to where the wall ended and looked across the living room, when he got to the christmas tree, he gasped and pulled his head back. There was definitely someone… something over there. Sonic didn’t think it was a human, cause it just didn’t look like one. He looked back over and it was still there, facing the ‘tree’. He learned the hard way when he bit it and it was just plastic. Sonic’s eyes widened as he looked at the mysterious stranger more. It looked to be about his height, it had black fur with some red, and it looked like it had quills like him. Not exactly like his cause his were blue and this person’s were black and red streaked. He wished he had a streak going through his quills, but what color? Sonic doesn’t know, just seeing the streaks in the others quills made him long for some.Wait a second. Sonic’s eyes widened to an impossible level when he realized what the intruder was. It was a hedgehog! Just like him, well, not exactly like him but close enough.
Feeling a little more confident but still a little wary as this was just a random hedgehog. Sonic stepped forward, “Hello? I notice you didn’t use the doorbell. Well, honestly, even if you did I don’t know if I would have let you in because Maddie said no strangers. And while you are an alien like me you are still a stranger…” No response. That was certainly rude. “Uhmmm… Hellllooo? It’s kinda rude to break into someone’s house and not acknowledge them. Well technically, it’s Tom and Maddie’s house and they let me stay here, but it would be a mouth full to say ‘Tom and Maddie’s house’ everytime i talk about this place, you know?” ….... “Anyways… Who are you?! And what are you doing here?!” On the outside Sonic put on a brave facade but internally. He couldn’t help but question if Santa fulfilled his wish already. Sure, it’s not Christmas yet, but what if Santa sent him this hedgehog to be his friend? Though, he didn’t see ten million dollars. The other hedgehog still didn’t respond and Sonic got closer, “It’s kinda rude not to respond to people when they ask questions. Hello? Hello? Hello? Hel-”
“Silence!” Sonic’s ears folded when he was yelled at. “Your grating, annoying voice displeases me greatly.” Well that was very rude. Sonic put a hand on his hip.
“Well so-rry. I didn’t realize that I was so ‘annoying’. Mr. breaks into people's houses.” The other hedgehog’s glare died down and he shot Sonic a smile. Sonic didn’t like where this was going. He wanted a friend, not a boyfriend. Though, he guesses just because he was smiled at doesn’t mean that the other new mysterious hedgehog wants to be his lover. Since he smiles at Tom and Maddie a lot and he doesn't want to be their boyfriend.
“I didn’t break in… You invited me… sort of.” The other alien shrugged
“Wait…” Sonic’s eyes widened once again, “You’re muncherbooty1000!” Sonic can’t believe this. He was playing Roblox one day and he told that person where he lived so they could meet up. Of course, when he told Tom and Maddie this, they didn’t seem too happy and grounded him from roblox and when he returned, they disabled the chat feature. So this might be a big W. Because then they could play Roblox together now.
“No. I don’t even- No.” The suspicious stranger shook his head. There was always time, maybe muncherbooty1000 could find him another day. “You wrote a letter. You should be careful what you ask fo-”
“OMG!!!” Sonic noticed but didn’t care about the look of surprise and how the black ears folded down. He can’t believe it. Santa is real, and he got his letter. Though, Sonic is pretty sure Santa is supposed to be a fat man in a red suit. But maybe because of magic, Santa appears as a hedgehog because Sonic himself is a hedgehog. “EEEE!!” Sonic’s tail began to act on its own, and his feet stepped up and down without moving him any. Sonic finally found his footing and shot forward and enveloped Santa in a hug. He was just a couple inches shorter which was a giant confidence boost. “Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. I can’t believe it. You’re real. Where are my presents?” Sonic shook his head against the other hedgehog, unintentionally nuzzling the other’s chest, “ You know what? That doesn't matter… Actually, hold on a second.” Sonic disengaged from the hug. Well, if it could be considered a hug since he did all the work. “It does matter.” Santa looked genuinely confused but Sonic won’t fall for that act. “I mean, the past ten years I never got anything. Sure, I didn’t write a letter or have an address. But aren’t you supposed to be magical? I don’t see why I need that stuff when you can just use your powers.” Sonic crossed his arms and turned away from Santa.
“I-Uhm, Say little boy, do you have a cat or something?”
Sonic turned back towards Santa, “A cat? So you’re just gonna ignore what I just said. About how you never got me anything the past ten years?”
“Usually people are terrified and don’t want to see me. Well, I guess more so the person you actually wrote. But me too.”
“Wait a second…” Sonic uncrossed his arms to point at the imposter, then rubbed the bridge of his nose. “You’re not him? Are you telling me he couldn't even be bothered to show up? Instead he sent some minion? Of course. I shouldn’t have expected anything else.” His chest hurt a little. Since Santa was real, and he was apparently not important enough to get a visit from the big man. Not even an apology, instead there’s some… elf. Though, it is a little weird that Santa would use alien hedgehogs as elves.
“You should consider yourself grateful that I showed up instead of him. You know not of what he would do to you. I on the other hand, am much more reasonable.”
“‘Lucky’? I’ll tell you what…” Sonic sneered at the minion but he had to look up to do so. Which would lessen the effect of it. So Sonic got on his tippy toes where he was almost the same height as the imposter. “You can just forget about it. Tell your boss too. He lost his chance… Unless… You give me ten million dollars right now.” Sonic’s sneer turned into a straight line, and he raised a brow. “It’s the least you can do since the big man couldn’t be bothered to show up himself.” The other hedgehog matched his brow before he sighed.
“Money? I get that request all the time. Usually we’ll just have a lighting strike or cut the brakes of the person asking for it. But since you’re apparently upset that Satan didn’t visit you in person. I suppose a deal can be made.” Satan? Sonic is pretty sure that that is bad juju.
“Satan?” Sonic shook his head and got off his toes. “I’m not mad that satan didn’t visit me. Are you crazy?! I don’t want the devil to visit me! Why would I even want that anyways?” This elf is really beginning to get on his nerves. Talking about Satan and stuff. Sonic knows Tom and Maddies don’t want any of that stuff in their house.
“You can’t change it now. You should have thought about it before you sent the letter. Now you will face the consequences.”
“Consequences? Excuse me? You have some nerve showing up here uninvited and talk about consequences. You tell Santa that I don’t even want his stuff anymore and to stay away from this house.” Hopefully this hedgehog would just leave cause Sonic might be at a disadvantage if the minion gets orders from Santa to attack.
The other hedgehog opened his mouth then closed it. He put a finger up, “Did you say Santa? Nevermind that, your tactics to confuse me into lettin-” Sonic interrupted the other hedgehog.
“Yes I did. And you can tell him that I don’t want him here. And that he sucks.” Sonic nodded in agreement with himself.
“Santa..?”
“Yes!” What part of that was so hard to understand. He was just a lonely alien hedgehog who wanted a visit by the big man in red so he could get what belonged to him. What was taken from him all those lonely years in his cave where he got nothing. Nothing at all under the little plastic tree he found.
“Say… You don’t happen to be retarded?”
“What does that mean?”
“Hold on a sec.” The other hedgehog whipped out his letter, and begun to read it.
“Are you telling me you haven’t even read it? That Santa hasn’t read it? I’m not surprised. You know, im gonna leave a bad review on google. I'm gonna say, Santa is a bitch.” (Sonic truthfully doesn't know what that word means but it's one of the words that he's not allowed to say. So it must be hurtful.) Sonic turned away and crossed his arms. It looks like the only people he can count on in his life are Tom and Maddie. Which… isn’t that bad. But still.
“Oh. Uhm. You wrote to Santa?” Sonic whipped around to face him.
“Yes! What about that is so hard to understand!? But I see it was useless now cause he doesn’t even care about me. So shoo!” Sonic waved his hand at the other hedgehog, but instead of leaving. The other hedgehog’s eyes flashed orange and he snarled at Sonic. Which had the blue hedgehog take a couple steps back while his quills raised slightly.
“Don’t you talk to me like that. You have no idea who you’re messing with or the power that I hold.” The black and red hedgehog took a step to him and Sonic took one back.
“You’re just some elf.” Sonic pointed at the approaching hedgehog but he still took steps back. This is very unprofessional.
“Elf? I am not an elf. I am black hearted, a harbinger of suffering and pain. The actions I have committed have gone past the nightmare your pitiful brain could conjure. I could make you stuff-” Sonic rolled his eyes and stopped back tracking.
“So you’re an edgy elf? What, do you paint all the toys you make black?” Sonic squinted his eyes and smirked at the other hedgehog. “Does Santa allow that?”
“That’s enough!” Sonic’s ears folded back down. He hated getting yelled at. He never had to experience it during his time in the cave. And only experienced it once since living with Tom and Maddie. But the feeling is unforgivable. And this elf just keeps yelling at him. “I was thinking of perhaps sparing you given my new founded circumstances, however, now? I will make you suffer.” That certainly didn’t sound good.
“You-You can’t do that! Santa and his elves are supposed to be jolly! Not whatever you are.” He was so gonna complain to Tom and Maddie when they got home tomorrow. And he's gonna make them complain to all those movie studios about how Santa is actually a bad person and not anything like in the films. Cause come on. Talking about making him suffer. That elf is lucky that Sonic didn’t want to get on the naught list or he’ll give him a butt whopping.
“No, you imbecile. How many ti-” Red streaked quills bounced as the hedgehog shook his head, “I… am the devil…” Yeah right, and he was bigfoot. Though, strangely enough, his feet were pretty large compared to the rest of his body, and his hands. But best not to think about that. The head is understandable cause he needs somewhere to store his massive brain.
“Uhmmm. I don’t think so. Isn’t the devil supposed to have horns and be like red or something?” Maybe he’s not an elf. Maybe he was just some random hedgehog that somehow found him. Which, would be a giant coincidence but Sonic doesn’t know how else to explain it.
“That’s on me. I’m not like- the devil, devil. Like satan. I’m one of his minions. Kinda like a demon but I don't really look like anything else down below so…” A demon ? Well, good thing he prepared for this. His heart beat picked up. As he plotted the best way to trap this demon in the salt circle he made earlier today. He’ll never complain about a pop-up ad or commercial again.
“I-Uhm-Uhm. For real? Like you’re actually from hel- h e double l?” Maddie doesn’t like him using language like that and even if he explained the situation to her then there could be no guarantee she would be okay with it. Barring earlier though, since he was high on emotions when he used the b word. But he just won’t tell her that.
“Yes. And you wrote a letter to satan instead of Santa. You really need to pay attention in school, your spelling was atrocious.” If this really was a demon then he probably should stop talking and just run, but Sonic couldn’t let that slide. And who was he to judge? So what if he wasn't the best speller out there. He could run fast, and was the best hedgehog ever, in all of the galaxy according to Maddie. So he doesn't care what this so called demon punk has to say.
“Well… How about you spend ten years alone and see how good of a speller you are.”
“Sympathy won’t work on me.” The demon paused ever so slightly, and if Sonic wasn’t the super speedy hedgehog he was, he wouldn’t have noticed, “Besides, lying is a sin… Which I guess is a good thing in this case? I’m not too sure. You’re my first child, and I guess… whatever the hell you are since you aren’t human, I have to torment.”
“Whatever I am?” Sonic put his hands on his hips and leaned forward slightly. “You’re literally me… well, not literally-literally, but you’re like me.”
“We’re nothing alike child. And I will prove it to you.” Sonic completely ignored the ominous undertone.
“Yes we are! You’re a hedgehog, like me.”
“I am not a hedgehog! I don’t know what kind of delusions you’re under but I’m sure torture will fix that.” Once again, the undertone flew right over him.
“Yes you are! Obviously not an Earth one, but an alien hedgehog. Just like me, except less handsome.”
“You’re lucky it’s me and not one of my co-workers or that comment would have gotten you raped.”
“Is getting raped a bad thing?”
“Uhm… Yeah? What kind of question is that?”
“Well excuse me. Sorry for living in a cave and not having a formal education.” How was he supposed to know what all these words meant if no one ever told him? His tail flicked in irritation.
“You’re- You’re being serious. You actually lived in a cave?”
“Yes! I only started living with my par- err- Tom and Maddie recently.”
“Hmm. Well I still have to punish you.” That set off alarm bells in Sonic’s head.
“What! You can’t do that. That’s- That’s illegal!" The other hedgehog brought a hand to his own forehead.
“Did you not listen to a single word I just said? I literally told you I’m from hell and am a demon… kinda.” Oh yeah…
“Well guess what? I’m not gonna let you punish… or-or do anything freaky to me.”
“I just told you i’m not gonna ra- you know what? I’m just gonna get right too it.” After he said that, the hedgehog disappeared.
“Uhmm.” That was odd, Sonic thought that he was for sure going to have to fight, run, something. Well, he does suppose he is pretty threatening and he probably scared the demon off. Sonic looked around the room and his ears folded down, he still has to clean. Maybe he could just pretend to be super sleepy when Maddie goes to wake him up and ask why he didn’t do his chores. That way he could ge-
A flash happened behind him and before he could react, Sonic felt a hand grab his forearm and pull him off the ground, “Boo.”
Sonic did in fact scream, but in his retelling of the story, that didn’t happen. He kicked his feet out and thrashed wildly, but the grip that held him was like titanium, unbreakable.
“Let Go!” He thrashed around some more.
“Will you stop? Doing that is not gonna help you.” Sonic didn’t care, until he started to move way more violently then before, his light and small body swinging all over the place as the other hedgehog shook him around. “Stop it. Bad.” Sonic only stopped because things got a little too dizzy. The shaking stopped and before he could demand to be let go. Because not only was this embarrassing, Sonic was pretty sure it was illegal.
He felt a stinging sensation and a… not a loud smack, cause he does have a rather small rear. “Ow!” Sonic jumped in the air and tried to cover his butt with both hands, but ended up with one as his other hand was being held. Once his natural reaction to getting smacked on the ass was over, he could put thought into it, “Did you just.?! Did you just spank me?! You can’t do that?!” He wiggled around to try to look at the perpetrator. And do what? Sonic doesn’t know but he’s not just gonna let this creep do this. Sonic yelped again as he was once smacked again. He didn’t really have a lot of ‘cushion’ so it stung a lot. “Stop!” His voice was kinda a growl.
“I told you I had to punish you. Just be glad I’m not sodomizing you with that zucchini on the table over there.” Sonic had no clue what zucchinis and salt had to do with anything. But his butt was hurting and he needed this creep to stop. He tried to swing his leg around in a kick, but it just bounced off the body of the other.
“Stop this! I swear I’m gonna- Yow!” The hardest smack yet had him seeing red. Sonic was done with this. He’s not gonna let some demon… hedgehog… whatever do this to him. He was getting hit so he’s gonna hit the other right. But not actually a hit, something a little more effective. He pulled his body up as best he could so his chin was right next to the arm that was holding him. Opened his mouth wide and chomped down on the black furred arm. And he would have smiled if he was able too, at the shout the other let out.
“Let go you fucking rat!” Sonic was shook violently around, as the other hedgehog swung his arm around in an attempt to dislodge him. Sonic did not let go, in fact. He bit harder, and shook his head, not unlike a rabid dog, and admittedly, he kinda growled like a rabid dog. But he was upset and in a vulnerable spot. “Shit!” Sonic didn’t let go even when a salty and metallic fluid trickled into his mouth. His stomach at the knowledge that it was blood. “ Let go.” The other hedgehog growled at him, but Sonic wanted him to feel what he felt. A fist pounded against him, but even though it hurt. Sonic did not dislodge.
After… who knows how long. Sonic felt a hand ruffle around in his quills before it reached the back of his neck and squeezed. His mouth was still around the arm, but there wasn’t any pressure. His body seized up and before he knew it, he was thrown. He crashed against the wood floor and slid just a little as his fur didn’t have much traction. He propped himself up on the floor and shook his head to try to shake the dizziness off. Through his dizziness, Sonic could see two black furry legs approach him, and he tried to get up, but before he could stand up on his own accord, he was yanked up. And instead of being held up, he was simply thrown again. He groaned and could hear the footsteps of the hedgehog getting closer, but this time. Sonic would have a surprise for the mysterious stranger. As he was getting pulled up, Sonic extended both his feet into the other’s stomach in a double kick. The hand let go of him and it was the other hedgehogs turn to groan.
Sonic wasted no time getting up. And once he was up, he zoomed to where he put the circle of salt with the other hedgehog right behind him. “I’m gonna murder you.” If there was one thing he was excellent at, it was taunting. And it was strategic too, if he made the other alien mad enough then he wouldn't even notice he’s being led into a trap.
“Your mamma.” Well. He's better at coming up with taunts when there isn’t a psychopathic hedgehog chasing him. But it seemed to work. Sonic dove over the pile so as not to disturb it. So he couldn’t see if it worked or not, but he didn’t need to see when he could hear.
“What is this?! What did you do?!” Sonic quickly spun around so he was facing the other. Just in time to see a hand push through the air and then suddenly, and somewhat violently snap back inside the circle.
And despite the fact that he was just about to be murdered or something. Sonic frowned a little and felt a little stone of guilt in his chest at the actions of the other. The other hedgehog went berserk. Trying to run out of the circle, punch his way out of the circle, just like a wild animal. Then, as if he needed more evidence that the other was a hedgehog just like him. Orange lighting crackled around the body of the other. Just like it did to him, well, his was blue.
“Uhmm. Calm down dude?” He was meant with a glare so hostile and venomous, that Sonic was surprised he didn’t spontaneously combust. A bit of nervous laughter escaped him, “Uhm… Well what now?” That was a very good question.
