“Kaito!”
Aoko’s voice startled Kaito and he answered.
“Yes.”
“Did Shinichi-kun just confess to you?”
Kaito blinked, waiting for his brain to process everything that had happened. Once the brain was finally at peace, Kaito gasped and grinned.
“Yessss! He said he loves me, Aoko!!!”
He said excitedly. Aoko squealed happily on the phone too before asking.
“So, where's he?”
Kaito's smile dropped and he started to sweat heavily.
“He's gone…”
“What! And you're still calling me! Go after him, you idiot!”
Aoko yelled at him. Really, he didn't blame her this time because he was at fault. And a really big one this time. Thanking his best friend and quickly putting off the call, he ran.
Kaito started to curse the university for having such a big layout. He ran and ran, kept asking anyone if they had seen Kudou and finally. Finally, he saw the person he had been searching for, with his silly cowlick bounce right and left.
He wanted to shout at Kudou because how could he just leave Kaito after saying something like that. How could he say he loved Kaito and not wait for his answer.
Kaito ran faster and pushed aside anyone who came in between him. He didn't want to lose Kudou just because of misunderstanding.
Because Kudou was–

“Shinichi!”
He finally caught his shoulder and pulled him to face him.
“I love you too!!!”
Ku- Shinichi's eyes widened and his face turned red. When the detective looked away, silenced, Kaito looked at him confused. Then, he realized the reason when there was a murmur. There were students around them and Kaito started to blush too.
Quickly, he took Shinichi's wrist and pulled him before walking out from the crowd.
“Let’s go.”
“Eh, K-Kuroba.”
Kaito turned at him with a smile.
“It's Kaito, Shinichi.”
Shinichi blushed harder and nodded.
Arriving at the area behind the university, where rarely people came, Kaito sadly released his hold. Taking his breath he looked at Shinichi, who was still blushing and looking away from him.
“Shinichi.”
Shinichi just hummed, still didn't look at him. Kaito stared at him and sighed fondly.
“Why did you leave?”
Kaito watched the detective bite his lips before answering.
“Because I was scared of you rejecting me.”
“And why did you think like that?”
“Because I thought you loved Aoko.”
Kaito really wanted to wipe off the sad smile in front of him. Before this, he had been late and stupid but not this time. So, he cupped both of Shinichi's cheeks, made him look at him and smiled.
“Idiot. All these times, I have only been in love with you, Shinichi.”
Shinichi blushed brighter again and Kaito amused how easily the detective can blush.
“But didn't you give Aoko red roses sometimes?”
Kaito blinked twice before chuckling. Shinichi started to glare at him and Kaito apologized.
“That’s because Aoko wants to give it to a senior that she likes. She sucks at selecting flowers so I help him…”
He thought for a second before adding.
“It would be a lie if I said I didn't have another motive though.”
Looking at Shinichi who waited for his continuation, who stared at him intently, made Kaito nervous suddenly too. He cleared his throat for a second before confessing.
“I want to make you jealous… and know if you… well have the same feeling as me. That this love of mine is the same as yours.”
“Oh…”
The only answer he got and Kaito wondered how could a smile be so cute and beautiful. Another need to kiss the man in front of him came at Kaito but he stopped himself again. He wanted to take it slow, Kaito didn't want Shinichi to run away again.
“I'm glad that this feeling is mutual.”
That's all that was needed to break Kaito's restraint. He kissed Shinichi and he could hear how Shinichi gasped for a while. A second after, Kaito felt Shinichi kissed him back and his heart jumping happily at the response. Pulling out to take a breath, Kaito grinned.
“I love you, Shinichi.”
“I love you too, Kaito.”
