VALERIE POV :
it’s been a month since I met Aki and so far it hasn’t been bad at all, she hasn’t switched up on me so I guess things might work out.
I could just be paranoid about everything but, it wasn’t like popular girls liked me, I constantly got made fun of just because I didn’t have a dad anymore.
Maybe things’ll be different this time.
I walked into my next class which happened to be with Aki, who was sitting next to her boyfriend.
‘they look cute together’ I thought.
I heard from rumours recently that the two of them started liking each other when they were ten?! And only got together last year, no wonder they’re practically attached at the hip.
Whilst taking my seat beside Emma who for some reason is always sleeping in class so I’m surprised how she always aces her exams, but I guess that’s better then having a super chatty desk mate which would just annoy me.
We were starting a new project in class with assigned partners, looking at the projection on the board showing who everyone’s paired with I squinted my eyes to make sure I was seeing that right, I’m paired up with Aki?
I wasn’t complaining but since this is the biggest project of the year we’d have to work at each others places. Aki didn’t look upset by it if anything she looked relieved, I’d imagine she’d wanna work with her boyfriend but, it’s not any of my business.

I felt someone tap my shoulder, thinking it was just another classmate wanting to ask about what we have next period, but to my surprise it was Aki.
“Hey, Valerie! You wanna come over after school? We could start our project there if you’d like, either way I’ve been meaning to give you my address just in case!”
“Huh? Oh, I’m free today so why not. I won’t need to tell my mother or anything it’s not like she’ll be home tonight, we could go straight to your place.” I replied.
“If your sure! Feel free to have dinner or at least some snacks while your there, I’m sure it’ll be a while.” She smiled before turning around, gesturing me to follow her.

We had been walking for a good 10 minutes before we got to her place, she apologized to me earlier saying she’d normally be picked up but today she felt more like walking home and didn’t realize she’d be having to take someone back with her. I never realized how much I hated seeing her guilty until now.
”I hope you don’t mind if James stops by some time sooner or later, His family makes the best food ever so he brings me some nearly everyday!” Aki mentioned.
”it’s no problem, hey, I have a question. Your house it’s pretty big, do you have a large family?” I said, mainly ignoring what she said about James because I was too in awe of her damn mansion in-front of me.
”Oh, no I only have my dad and my brother! This is only one of our houses we have multiple in other countries and lakes cause my dad loves travelling quite a bit. I could give you a tour before we start!” I knew plenty that Aki away filthy rich as well as her boyfriend, but I didn’t know it was to the point where she has multiple homes, cars, and a huge backyard with a koi pond in it?! It looks like her dad loves gardening too..
“How do you guys manage to take care of all of this?!” I exclaimed.
”We don’t, we pay professionals and maids to take care of everything while we’re gone.”
Growing up Nolan has always been the richest person I knew but now it seems like Aki might take that place or Atleast tie with him..

We finally got to her room which was really nice, she had a lot of band posters up and bookshelf’s full of collectables, all genres of books, Lego builds with their boxes. From the outside perspective Aki looks like a totally basic but nice person but now that I’m in her room she looks like the biggest nerd ever.
”sorry about all my stuff here, I hope it doesn’t get in the way of anything!..” she scratched the back of her neck in an awkward way.
“Don’t worry about it! I think it’s really cool.” I said, in the most reassuring voice I could.
She took out pen to start sketching out a layout for how we want it to look. I never realized how talented she was in art.
”since it’s a diagram how about we go all out! I don’t particularly like going beyond ‘the limit” of assignment’s but since this is the project worth most of our homeroom grade we might as well!”
Seeing the bright and determined look on Aki’s face helped with my courage as well, I heard people say that her energy tends to match the people she’s around asides from people she’s comfortable with. I guess that’s true.

We took a break a little while after, as I was observing Akie’s room I noticed how many video game and anime CD’s, Posters, Dolls, figures and other stuff she has, Akie doesn’t seem like the type of person so collect “weird” things but looking at it all now if she were more open to it we could probably get along more.
the bookshelf’s we’re filled with different Superhero Comics, mangas and Greek, Norse and Chinese mythology books? Asides from those which seemed pretty normal I tried not to focus on the stacks upon STACKS of empty ramune bottles there were on top of the bookshelf, and I thought I only liked those drinks.
