Chapter Text
To oversimplify it, SBURB is a game.
It is one of the first "digital" (played on a device such as a computer or specific console) games to come to Ninjago. Created by a currently unknown game company, SBURB was advertised to the general public via a classified ad in the national newspaper, an image of which has been embedded below.
[ISSUE: M, LOOKS LIKE YOUR LINK IS BROKEN.]
[it shouldn't be, the image is in the site data.]
[I'M AWARE, BUT THE LINK DOESN'T WORK. IT SEEMS LIKE THE IMAGE FILE IS CORRUPTED AS WELL.]
[well, I lost the original copy when my Digipad got destroyed, and any copies of the original paper are long destroyed. Sadly.]
[Your Digipad was destroyed?]
[Yeah. I'll tell you later. I guess I'll just edit this part out in post.]
To be philosophical, SBURB is an act of creation.
[NOTE: yeah I completely forgot where I was going with this one. I'll get back to it.]
[SUGGESTION: DELETE THIS PORTION.]
[REPLY: No.]
To play SBURB, you will need the following:
- Two people to play the game (minimum, there seems to be no real limit to the amount of people who can join in, as long as you create a "chain," which will be further discussed in a future section.)
- Two devices for these people to play the game on.
- A copy of the game for each player. When ordering SBURB, you will receive two discs, one is the "Client" version and the other is the "Host" version. If you wish to link your sessions, you will need both versions.
- The ability to quickly adapt to stressful situations.
Easy enough, right?
Beginning a game of SBURB is the easy part. The harder part comes in playing it. It's going to go fast. Nothing is going to be explained. It's all trial and error, with very little room for the latter.
But hey, like we said before, this guide should help you.
As mentioned prior, we're a group of friends—probably much like you and whoever you're sharing this with—who were curious about SBURB and decided to play it.
Unlike you, we didn't have a guide to help us.
So now, as we go forward with our mission, we plan to update this guide with all the information and necessary tips you'll need for a successful SBURB session. A lot of gameplay relies on unintuitive controls and a near encyclopedic knowledge of the game's construction, which makes the barrier of entry for players something akin to a very large, very heavy wooden door, which is also locked and for which you don't have the key.
And with any luck, you too can create your own world, in your image.
[First draft done! Any suggestions, J?]
[LOOKS PRETTY GOOD. SOME REDUNDANCIES WITH THE INFORMATION AND A BIT OF DIVERSION, BUT I HAVE NOTHING TO ADD HERE THAT I DIDN'T ADD ABOVE.]
[I'm not deleting my philosophy.]
[YOU HAVEN'T WRITTEN IT. I DON'T SEE THE ISSUE IN DELETING A SINGLE LINE.]
[Because it ties into the end line. It's for dramatic purposes.]
[THIS GUIDE HAS NO ROOM FOR UNNECESSARY PROSE. THE GAME ITSELF IS ALREADY DIFFICULT ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND, WE SHOULD STRIVE TO MAKE OUR GUIDE AS STRAIGHTFORWARD AS POSSIBLE. NO BLOATING.]
[Whatever. I'll delete it later.]
[UM, FOR WHATEVER IT'S WORTH, I BELIEVE IT WOULD'VE BEEN A VERY INSIGHTFUL SECTION, M :-) The boys think so too.]
[Thanks, T. And tell them I said so.]
[DO NOT USE THE NOTES FOR DISCUSSION! THAT SHOULD STAY IN PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS.]
[Killjoy.]
