Chapter Text

— The warm gold sunlight shines though the thin curtains, illuminating the dorm room of Dazai and Chuuya in the early morning. Their room contains two beds, each one placed next to each other against a wall, leaving space to walk in between, and one big wardrobe.

On the wall opposite of the door where the headboards of the beds are, is a large window along with thin grey curtains left and right.

The bathroom door is on the right side of the main door.

Chuuya slowly stirs awake against the bright morning sun but she's too sleepy to move yet. She recognizes the familiar feeling of bandages against her arm, Dazai is still sleeping lightly close to her.

Or at least their eyes are closed, but Chuuya can't actually tell.

She sighs softly and snuzzles her face into Dazais neck and closes her eyes again. She wants to at least doze a bit until the actual day begins and she has to let go of her grip around Dazai.

It's very warm under the blanket in the bed, almost too warm with Dazais added body warmth but it's still somehow comforting. It reminds Chuuya of their own little space, in their room with the sunlight peaking through the windows and adding a golden sparkle. Like their own bubble where they can withdraw from the rest of the world.

It's childish, it really is and Chuuya is very aware of that, but she still finds herself hoping and believing in it. In someplace safe and comfortable, quiet and peaceful like the few short seconds after you wake up and don't yet remember all the stuff you stressed about yesterday.

Chuuya falls into a light slumber again but when Dazai shifts from their position, she opens her eyes. Dazai had turned around to face Chuuya and now offers her a sleepy grin.

'Morning…'

Chuuya hums softly in response.

Dazai takes a breath leans back in a tired motion. She talks quietly, saying what both of them think.

'It's really hot here right now…'

She catches an agreeing nod from Chuuya and both up them lean out a bit, still touching but not pressed together as much anymore, and the redhead lies her head down on Dazais shoulder.

‚I really don’t wanna get up…‘

Dazai murmurs as she starts to run their fingers through the redhead’s messy hair, occasionally untangling some waves. Her eyes linger on Chuuyas almost pale face, on the light brown freckles sprinkled over her cheeks and nose.

‚Me neitherr~‘

Chuuya pouts and pulls the blanket up over her whole face to hide beneath it. She groans into the fabric, which makes Dazai chuckle, but she doesn’t say anything about it.

For a moment, they just lie there and don’t really talk much, they just enjoy the silence and closeness with each other. Chuuya has to remove the blanket from her face though to be able to breathe after a short time.

Eventually, Dazai stops playing with Chuuyas hair and rests their hand on Chuuyas stomach. She exhales and their stomach growls.

Chuuya unsuccessfully tries to suppress a laughter. She turns her face up to Dazai and grins.

‘Hungry?’

‘Maybe a little bit.’ The brunette replies with a chuckle and raises one eyebrow.

Chuuya hums and reluctantly gets up, legs swinging out by the side of the bed. She rubs her eyes and yawns.

‘Try not to set anything on fire while I’m gone.’ Chuuya comments while she ties her messy hair into a quick ponytail.

‘Wha-‘ She snorts. ‘Where are you even going?’

Dazai looks up at her and pouts. She sits up on their elbows.

‘Kitchen.’ The quick reply comes from the redhead, who’s already halfway trough their dorm room’s door.

On each floor of the college’s dorm, there is a shared kitchen free for all the students to use. It’s combined with a small living room with a couch and seats to hang out. There even is a tv and some Nintendo players for the Movie And Game Nights which are organized by older students or staff , but those are only accessible on Thursday and Friday nights and weekends. Chuuya comes here rather often with her friends or to make herself some tea, but Dazai has always preferred to avoid the common room.

Chuuya finds herself standing at the kitchen island, with her dark red pyjama-combo and a musli pack in hand. She knows that Dazai doesn’t often eats in the mornings, but when they do, it’s really most probably cereals. Luckily, Chuuya found the same ones that Dazai likes, so she pours them into a white bowl and adds milk shortly after from the fridge.

It’s still fairly quiet in the common room, there are only some younger students that Chuuya only knows by sight sitting on beanbags and chatter. But besides that, no one else is in the kitchen.

Chuuya shrugs, that’s fair, considering the early morning time. Even the campus that can be seen through the windows is illuminated by the early golden morning sun, but she can tell that it won’t last long until the sun stands higher and the students slowly get up.

With the filled cereal bowl in hand, Chuuya makes her way back to their dorm room.

Meanwhile, Dazai has sat up on the bed cross legged and is unbraiding their hair from the braid Chuuya made yesterday. She actually wanted to keep it like that but it was really fuzzy from sleeping anyway. They’re finished when Chuuya bursts trough the door. Dazai glares at the cereal bowl and her face lights up. ‘

Chibi got me cereals?~’ She grins and grabs the bowl from Chuuyas hands without waiting for an answer, already dipping the spoon into in to eat.

Chuuya mutters something under her breath that Dazai doesn’t even want to try to understand.

The mattress shifts a bit under Chuuyas weight as she sits down next to Dazai and lets out a long breath.

‘Aren’t you gonna get yourself anything?’ Dazai ask with a full mouth and Chuuya takes a second to understand what they were saying and respond. She shakes her head.

‘Nah. I’m gonna grab something in the cafeteria, probably.’ She leans her head on Dazais shoulder and looks out of the window.

The brunette hums in response, too concentrated on the breakfast to give an actual verbal response.

She quite unsuccessfully tries to blend out the thought of college classes that are waiting for them in a few hours. She doesn’t say anything though, she doesn’t want Dazai to be reminded too and ruin the mood.

She keeps looking out of the window and notices something.

‘Look, Osamu. It’s raining today too. Isn’t that odd?’

Notes:

PLEASE someone tell me they got the reference (even tho this isnt an angst fic)

Aaaanyway, i feel like Dazai would most definitely let their cereals soak in the milk before eating them, and Chuuya would find it disgusting.

Hope you liked this!!<3

(PS: first day of school and guess what i didn’t die)

Notes:

I hope you liked this first part I know it’s still a bit messy.
I’d really love to know what you thought about it!!<3
Also if it wasn’t clear yet Dazai is a demigirl in this fic^^
